GENERAL RULES FOR WORKING SAFELY AROUND RADIOACTIVE

MATERIALS

General, safe work rules such as these are established at each facility. It is the responsibility of each
employee to follow these rules in addition to all other applicable procedures.

1. Assigned dosimeters shall be worn as instructed.

2. Eating, smoking, drinking, application of cosmetics, and gum or tobacco chewing are prohibited
at all times.

3. Storage of food or drinks is prohibited.

4. Adhere to all posted PPE requirements.

5. After working in an area with unsealed radioactive materials, hands, feet, clothing and any
materials or equipment to be removed must be monitored for contamination, and
decontaminated if required, prior to leaving the area.

6. Ensure radioactive materials are properly stored and labeled.

7. All waste shall be segregated and properly disposed of.

8. Report all spills, leaks, or other incidents involving radioactive materials to the Radiation Safety
Officer.
