    Francis Yazzie (Neighbor)

    1. Hello, Mr./Ms. Yazzie could you please tell the court a little bit about yourself.
    I live at 401 Raptor Road, 3 about a half mile or so down the road from Jamie Cobey and
    Erik Smith. I owned the Blue Agave restaurant, which celebrated my culture and cuisine.
    I was forced to close it because of the pandemic. These days I make a living selling my
    desert-landscape watercolor paintings and handmade jewelry and belt buckles. I do not
    make as much as I did with the restaurant, but I’m an artist at heart and I enjoy the work
    tremendously. I work from early morning until about 4:00 PM each day.
    2. How do you know Mr./Ms. Cobey, are you friends, acquaintances…?
    Good friends with Jamie since Jamie moved in about 10 years ago.
    3. How often would you get together with Jamie Cobey?
    Often, after Jamie’s mom had been cared for, Jamie would come over around 4:00 PM for
    a cup of tea made from herbs from my garden. Jamie started to help me in my cactus and
    succulent garden for free, teaching me about all the characteristics of cacti and
    succulents, how to take care of the plants and how to build a drought-tolerant landscape.
    4. What is the reason behind being friends with Jamie, what drew you to them?
    They are really such a nice and caring people. Jamie would not only take care of their
    poor mother but would also come by to me and teach me all about gardening. Jamie
    really was just a kind person.
    5. When was the last time you saw Mr./Ms. Cobey before today?
    It was on the day of the funeral.
    6. And what happened on the day of the funeral?
    They came to my house at around 4pm and they were experiencing immense grief so I
    tried to support Jamie the best I could. I made Jamie some tea. After cheering them up by
    the time Jamie left we were both feeling a lot better and even laughing.
    7. What were you laughing about?
    We were laughing about Erik, about how absurd his demands were and how Erik was just
    being rude.
    8. Did Jamie ever mention what they were going to do after leaving your home?
    Jamie said that they were going to go do some gardening.
    9. When Jamie left how would you describe them?
    They were calm and back to being their normal self. Jamie looked a lot better after they
    left.
