b) Discus how IEEE 802.11 differs from IEEE 802.16?

c) Which protocol offers better security between WEP and WPA? Why is that?

a) Clearly draw a diagram explaining in detail the hierarchical network design model
(comprising the 3 layers). Clearly state and explain the characteristics and features of
each layer in the hierarchy.

b) Explain in detail the differences between a hub, switch, bridge and router?

a) Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of wireless networks over wired networks.
What issues must one consider when designing and implementing an enterprise wireless
network?
b) Outline any five (5) reasons why IEEE 802.16 has failed to compete with 3/4G
technologies in data transmission.

a) Describe the features of MAC protocol of Wireless LAN in comparison with CSMA/CD
in Ethernet
b) Describe the logical grouping mechanism of L2 VLAN and L3 VLAN briefly. What
situations or conditions are L2 VLAN preferable than L3 VLAN?
c) Compare the key features of IEEE802.17 MAC Protocol in comparison with IEEE 802.5.

Given that M=101101 and G=11001, determine the message and generator polynomials M(x)
and G(x). Perform the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC).

Explain the difference between TCP and UDP. List down at least three (3) advantages of each
