MUTUALISM - IT IS THE RELATIONSHIP IN WHICH
BOTH SPECIES BENEFITS
For example: Bees pollinate flower
The bee is benefiting by getting food while the flower benefit from being
pollinated.

COMMENALISM – IT IS A RELATIONSHIP IN WHICH ONE


ORGANISM BENEFITS WHILE THE OTHER IS NIETHER
HELPED NOR HARMED
For example: Cattle egret in the horse
When cattle egret is resting in the horse they tend to move insects that
have been nesting on the grass. The cattle egret catches them and preys
upon them while the horse remains unaffected.

PARATISM – IT IS A RELATIONSHIP IN WHICH ONE


ORGANISM BENEFITS AND OTHE ORGANISM IS HARMED

For example: Parasites in wood
Wood tree is parasitized by termite

PREDATION – IT IS AN INTERACTION WHICH ONE


ORGANISM CAPTURES ANOTHER AND FEEDS ON THE
CAPTURED ORGANISM.
For example: Rabbit chased by tiger
The rabbit is chased by the tiger for food. Predation provides Food for the
prey. And energy to prolong the life and promote the reproduction of the
organism that does the killing.

COMPETITION – IT IS WHEN ORGANISMS COMPETE FOR


FOOD, MATE, AND HABITAT AND CAN OCCUR WITHIN
OR BETWEEN SPECIES.
For example: The hyenas are competing for the food.
They are competing because of the resources not just resources but also
for the habitat and mate. There are two different types of competition the
intraspecific competition occurs between members of the same species
and the, Interspecific competition occurs between members of different
species.
