Two Steps Back

by Wintervalley

Summary

There was no doubt about it: Wednesday was clearly the most adorable baby to ever have
existed. Those soft little cheeks, and her impossibly large, brown eyes… How was Enid
supposed to handle her being so cute? This girl was going to be the death of her.

***

Wednesday messes up a spell and gets stuck in the body of her 2-year-old self. This vessel
lacks the skills she is used to, making independence a little tricky… She has no choice but
to accept the help of her friends, and it’s safe to say she’s not happy about it.

Notes

Hello and welcome!

I got inspired when I read ShadowMP's fic "Very Little Problems", and I felt this fandom
needed more fics featuring Wednesday as a child!

2-3 year olds are particularly interesting. I work with that age group at my preschool, and
they are fascinating let me tell you. The difference in how they’re perceived from one
minute to the next is unreal. Like, most of the time, I feel like they’re much older than they
actually are, because most of them are quite articulate and you can have really interesting
conversations with them.
But then they go ahead and do things like fall asleep in their food at the lunch table (yes, I
am ABSOLUTELY including that in this fic), and suddenly you realize that they really
aren’t that big after all… I love them so much

So, this is what Wednesday will need to balance between. While the spell did not affect her
mind and she still has her intellect, she IS in the body of a toddler. She has the strength and
perseverance of a toddler, the fine motor skills of a toddler, the emotional regulation…

As you can imagine, this will be quite the struggle for her, and things are bound to get
interesting.

I also want to say that I feel kinda weird tagging this Wednesday/Enid, because I need to
make it clear that there is NOTHING sexual going on between them while Wednesday is a
literal baby… I imagine this taking place when they return to school after season 1, and I
definitely feel like they are in some pre-relationship stage. But it’s not like Enid feels that
kind of attraction to Wednesday while she’s a tiny child. However, their emotional
investment in each other certainly grows deeper during all this.

A small draft from the window caused the flames on the candles to flicker a little. Wednesday
focused harder. Once again, she found herself inside a circle of candles on the floor of her dorm at
Nevermore. Only this time, it wasn’t to hold a séance. She couldn’t. That bridge had burned when
Goody saved her life at the end of last semester.

But she’d been back at school for three weeks now, and she was starting to realize that it was all
connected. The stalker she now had at her hands most definitely had something to do with
everything that had gone down with Crackstone, but this time, Wednesday’s spiritual guide was
nowhere to be found.

So, in her desperation to get answers, she’d found herself a spell to try. In the withering pages of an
ancient book found in the Nightshades library, she’d discovered a spell that would allow her spirit
to travel back in time. If she was successful, there was a chance she would be able to speak to
Goody again, and get the answers she needed.

A sound, almost like a whisper, passed through her. Not much longer now. She could feel
something was about to happen. With her eyes wide open she watched as the walls around her
started expanding. So this is what it felt like to travel back in time? She waited in suspense for a
few seconds, before she started suspecting that something had gone wrong.

The room was still now, but somehow it appeared larger than before. And she was still here. She
could see the typewriter on her desk, the cello outside the window, and Enid’s large collection of
stuffed animals. This was definitely present day.

She froze when her other senses kicked in, and she took in the sensations in her body. It felt
different. Had her clothes expanded too? Because the T-shirt she’d been wearing was hanging off
her very loosely. Her otherwise dormant heart was hammering in her chest when she dared look
down.

It became clear to her that nothing else was bigger but, in fact, she was the one that was smaller.
The arms she held out in front of her were short and a little chubby, with round little hands and tiny
fingers attached to them. She brought her hands to her head and discovered that her hair was too
short to braid. Instead, her pigtails were like tiny ponytails, one on either side of her head.

She carefully stood up, only to realize she could barely peak over the top of her desk. She didn’t
need to see herself in the mirror to understand what had happened.

Well, fuck.

It was Sunday, and while none of the students had classes, many of them could be seen around
campus, hanging out with friends and enjoying their extracurricular activities.

It wasn’t unusual for Wednesday to keep to herself, Enid would never expect her to be hanging
around the common areas with her classmates. But she did promise that morning that she would
meet Enid after breakfast to follow up on a new lead she was sure she was about to discover. Enid
knew her to always keep her promises, which is why she felt it was odd when the raven did not
show up.
She’d waited for her in the foyer like they’d decided, and when she didn’t show up, Enid had even
gone to their dorm to check if she was there. But all she’d found was a bunch of candles that had
been hastily thrown into a cardboard box and discarded by the foot of Wednesday’s bed. The girl
had been so obsessed with this new mystery, she was clearly keeping herself very busy and had
probably forgotten about Enid.

A little disappointed, she set out to try and find her.

“Have any of you seen Wednesday?” she asked a few of her classmates, that she found in the
library.

“Not today, no”, Xavier answered.

Bianca and Divina both shook their heads.

Enid sighed, but continued wandering about the school. Though she asked around everywhere she
went, no one had seen her roommate. And when Eugene told her he’d expected Wednesday by the
beehives earlier in the morning, and she didn’t show up, Enid actually started growing worried.

Heading back towards their dorm, she figured she could look for clues in whatever weird ritual
Wednesday had performed this time.

When the door closed behind her, she immediately approached the box of candles and started
rooting through it. But she didn’t find anything other than candles, and she still had no idea what
Wednesday might have been up to.

Letting out a disappointed sigh, she stood up again, and stayed still in that same spot while she
tried to think of what to do now. That’s when she thought she heard a sound coming from
Wednesday’s closet.

It was so faint, a tiny shuffle, she wasn’t sure whether she’d imagined it or not. But as she didn’t
have any other leads she walked closer. In the doorway of the closet, she scrutinized the contents
closely. All she saw was clothes, hanging unnaturally neatly on the hangers. She couldn’t see
anything, but suddenly she had the strong feeling that another presence was there with her. Maybe
it was her werewolf intuition, that was heightened ever since she finally wolfed out. She just hoped
it wasn’t some ghost that Wednesday had pulled from the other side in her creepy ritual. But of
course, it could also be a racoon or something.

Her eyes falling on the laundry basket, she realized it was the only place a small creature could
hide. She nervously approached it, and reached out her hand to lift the lid.

What she found inside was so far from anything she’d expected, she instinctively let out a shriek in
shock. Staring up at her was the roommate she’d been looking for, there was no doubt about it.
Those glaring, dark eyes could not belong to anyone else. But she had changed so drastically, Enid
could hardly believe her eyes.

The child in the basket was no older than 2, maybe 3 considering how short she would grow up to
be. She had the most adorable, round cheeks and her hair gathered in two small pigtails that curled
a little at the end. Enid immediately thought of Boo from Monsters Ink when she saw her.

As soon as the original shock had passed, she approached the basket again and kneeled down.

“Wednesday?” she said, hesitantly.

Wednesday still looked highly unamused.

“In the flesh”, she muttered.

Enid had a million questions, but the most prominent was what the hell had happened, and how
much would Wednesday be able to recall? Did she remember what had happened? If this was her
younger self, did she even know where she was?

“Do you… know who I am?” Enid asked her in the voice she always used with little children.

“Yes, Enid”, Wednesday sighed. “This… unfortunate change… is purely superficial. My mind is
the same. You can drop the baby voice. It sounds idiotic.”

“Woah”, Enid breathed.

She could not tear her eyes away from the girl in front of her. This was by far the most insane thing
she had ever witnessed, and it was impossible not to be mesmerized. She looked so sweet. Her
voice was tiny and possibly the cutest thing Enid had ever heard! And yet it was so clearly her
same, grumpy old roommate that was speaking. It felt both familiar and completely new at the
same time, and Enid felt herself go a little kooky from trying to make sense of it.

“How did this happen?” she finally managed to ask, and Wednesday recounted the events of that
morning.

“I don’t know what went wrong…” she finished the story with, and frowned slightly.

“I’m sure there’s a way to fix it”, Enid said, looking reassuringly down at the girl, before she
frowned in confusion. “Wait, what are you doing in the laundry basket?”

Wednesday’s eyes were filled with self-hatred.

“What does it look like I’m doing?” she hissed.

Not until then did Enid notice the girl was holding a dusty old book and a flashlight in her hands.
Enid was no less confused.

“Okay… And why, exactly, are you reading inside a laundry basket?”

“I was hoping to spare myself the humiliation of letting my piteous defeat be known”, Wednesday
explained, and finally scrambled out of the basket. “But now that the flee-bitten cat is already out
of the bag, I’ll continue my research by my desk.”

Enid watched in awe as this tiny little human, that was somehow her best friend, moved towards
her desk, and with difficulty climbed onto her chair. She seemed to be wearing nothing but a black
t-shirt, that was many sizes too big for her and fit like a dress. The little raven turned towards her
again.

“Do not let a soul come in here!” she warned. “I need to figure out what went wrong and fix it
before my reputation is ruined forever and I need to burn this entire school down.”

Enid waited patiently while almost four hours passed, and while Wednesday kept on reading, Enid
had trouble finding anything to do but stare at her. She still could not believe her eyes, and part of
her thought she must be dreaming.

But as time went on, she started getting antsy. Wednesday was by far the most stubborn person she
knew, and Enid knew she would never admit defeat. By the looks of it, she was no closer to finding
an answer, and if Enid was to wait for her to figure things out on her own, it might take all
semester.

“How are things going?” she asked with hesitation.

She was a bit surprised by the level of aggression in Wednesday’s answer.

“Did I say I wanted to be interrupted?” she growled without turning around.

“You’ve been staring at that same page for almost an hour”, Enid said to her stubborn roommate.
“I know you don’t like it, but I really think you should see the nurse.”

Wednesday finally spun around in her chair to look at her. Her feet pointed straight out as almost
her entire legs fit on the seat.

“Over my dead body!” she said. “I will solve this myself!”

“What if it takes all day?” Enid complained. “You haven’t even had lunch. Are you going to let
yourself starve before you accept help?”

“I don’t need help!” Wednesday yelled.

Enid understood the girl was in a stressful situation, but she couldn’t help but feel like Wednesday
was uncharacteristically upset over this. She was always so cold and calculated, raising her voice
was never necessary as her death stare was enough to make people listen to her. But today, she
didn’t seem to be in full control of herself. And Enid got a little worried, seeing her so unlike
herself. Who’s to say this spell was completely harmless? What if it was dangerous for Wednesday
to stay like this.

“What if it’s hurting you to stay under this spell?” she suggested anxiously. “You seem a little… on
edge.”

“What does that mean?” Wednesday whined, but her question was immediately answered when
tears started pooling in her eyes.

She drew a sharp breath in shock, and both her and Enid looked at each other with puzzlement. A
couple of tears started running down the small girl’s cheeks.

“Why is water coming out of my eyes?” the little raven asked. Her voice sounded incredibly small
now.

“It’s called crying, Wednesday”, Enid joked a little.

She knew that Wednesday obviously knew what crying was, but they were both equally surprised
to see tears in the stoic girl’s eyes. If Enid had felt fondness for her roommate before, it amplified
tenfold in this moment. She was in no way prepared to see her upset like this, especially this tiny
version of her. It took everything she had not to run over to her and scoop her up. She needed to
help her feel better immediately.

“It’s okay to be upset”, she tried to console her. “This is really overwhelming, it’s only natural
if…”

“I don’t get overwhelmed!” Wednesday objected aggressively, tears flowing freely now.

“Well, you’re not exactly yourself”, Enid said. “Maybe it’s not as easy to regulate your emotions in
this new body? You’ve been working non-stop for hours… You really should take a break, maybe
eat something…”

“I’m not hungry!” Wednesday cried bitterly.

Something clicked in Enid when she heard her outburst. Wednesday sounded so much like a
toddler, she reminded Enid of when her younger cousins got hangry and there was no reasoning
with them. The more she thought about it, the more likely it seemed that eating was exactly what
she needed.

“No?” she asked. “Prove it.”

She hurried over to her desk and rooted around until she found a bar of Kit Kat that she’d stashed in
there. Walking over to Wednesday’s side of the room, she sat down on the edge of her bed and
patted the spot next to her.

“Come eat”, she said. “If you’re still miserable after, I’ll accept that you were right.”

Wednesday stayed still in her spot on her chair, stubbornly refusing to move.

“Honestly, you’re acting really childish”, Enid finally added. “I’ll go straight to the nurse if you
don’t come eat!”

She figured an insult and a threat was the most efficient way to communicate with her roommate,
and it turned out she was correct, when Wednesday slid out of her seat and slowly made her way
over, climbed up on the bed, snatched the candy bar out of Enid’s hand and sat down cross-legged
with her back towards her best friend. Enid watched as she started nibbling on the chocolate, all
while her shoulders kept trembling in soft sniffles.

When she had finished eating, the crying had subsided, but she stayed with her back turned towards
Enid, still like a statue.

“What are you doing?” Enid finally dared to ask her.

“I’m reminding myself of all my years of training in self-discipline”, Wednesday muttered.

She turned back around in embarrassment, looking at Enid with traces of tears still left on her
cheeks.

“I apologize”, she said. “That was a revolting display of emotions, and I’ll make sure it doesn’t
happen again.”

“Wednesday”, Enid answered softly. “I don’t care. I’m not gonna think any less of you just because
you’re showing some emotions.”

She reached out and wiped the tears off Wednesday’s cheeks with the back of her hand.

“But… I don’t think you’re enjoying this very much”, she continued. “So let’s get the nurse, yeah?
There’s no need to try and reinvent the wheel. If she already has an answer, then lets get it from
her.”

Wednesday’s face was expressionless again, but she let out a long sigh.

“Fine”, she finally gave up. “The nurse may come here, but no one else.”

“Thank you!” Enid said in relief before she stood up and rushed towards the infirmary.
Chapter End Notes

It's begun!

This fic was born from a few random moments that I thought would be cute to write. I
have enough ideas for maybe 4 chapters or something, but if you have any more
suggestions on things that could happen while Wednesday is under this spell, please
leave your ideas in the comments as I would love to write more!
Chapter 2
Chapter Notes

Halloo, we're back! Thank you guys for the reactions on the first chapter, they made
me very happy! One of you wondered about the nurse’s roll in all this. Since this story
is a little AU, you'll see here that I picture her having kind of like Madam Pomfrey's
roll hehe. For those of you waiting for Wednesday to become more clingy, she will be
so! But I want her to gradually become more dependent on Enid, so have patience! I
don't want to change her personality too drastically.

Also, for convenience, we're going to pretend like Enid and Ajax never got together. In
this chapter you'll see protective Enid start to show a little bit, and it won't be the last
we see of her!

See the end of the chapter for more notes

The nurse at Nevermore was just like any other school nurse, but because of the school’s
supernatural residents, she knew a lot more than any nurse at a normie school. In addition to how
to treat garlic poisoning in vampires and the lycan influenza, Enid knew that she had a fair bit of
knowledge about different curses and spells, which is why she felt confident she would get answers
when she knocked on her office door.

“Good afternoon, Enid”, the nurse greeted her once she’d opened the door. “How can I help you.”

“It’s Wednesday who needs help”, Enid explained. “I think you’d better come back to our dorm
and see for yourself.”

Enid nervously bounced on her heels while the nurse locked up her office and then turned to follow
her to Ophelia Hall.

When they got back to the dorm, Wednesday had moved to fetch the spellbook, and was once
again sat cross-legged on her bed, but with the book in her hands. Having seen it all throughout her
many decades at this school, the nurse didn’t even seem shocked when she saw her. Maybe a little
frustrated.

“What have you done now, to put yourself in this mess?” she asked the tiny girl on the bed.

Wednesday’s eyes shot daggers at her as she stubbornly kept her mouth shut. But her death stare
did not have it’s usual effect, as all it did was make her look even more adorable.

As she didn’t seem keen on talking to the nurse, Enid did her best to recount the details that
Wednesday had told her. The nurse walked closer to get a better look at her, and she reached out
her hand, urging Wednesday to pass her the book with the spell that she’d used. Humming a little
while she read, she finally looked at Wednesday.

“This spell is only meant to be performed facing West”, she explained. “What direction were you
facing?”

Wednesday could not hide her horror as she realized what a simple mistake she’d let herself make.
“North”, she muttered.

“Figures”, the nurse said. “Well, the good news is that there’s a potion that will turn you back. I
can start brewing it now and it will be ready in the morning.”

Wednesday’s posture turned a little more hopeful.

“So, I just wait until tomorrow morning, down this potion and I’ll be back to normal?”

“Gulp it down all at once and you’ll die instantaneously”, the nurse said, without an ounce of
humor. “No, it has to be spread out in smaller doses over a month. You’ll need to drink a small vial
each morning, and once the regimen is up, your body will have absorbed enough to turn back to
your regular self. Until then, I’m afraid you’re stuck like this. It should teach you not to experiment
with spells you know nothing about.”

Wednesday’s eyes widened a little.

“I suppose we will have to pretend I am carrying a very contagious and deadly virus”, she said.
“That will allow me to stay in here for a month and not see anyone until I’m back to myself.”

“I can’t let you do that”, the nurse said strictly. “Since your cognition is not impaired, I cannot
grant you absence from your classes. If you skip your lessons without permission you’ll have to
kiss your perfect grades goodbye.”

Wednesday almost growled at the lady before her.

“You’re not being of any help”, she said. “Leave. Now.”

The nurse only looked amused as she turned around to leave, keeping the spellbook in her hands.

“I’ll bring you your first vial tomorrow morning”, she said on her way out. Then, waving with the
spellbook she added: "And I'll be keeping this."

Wednesday and Enid were left on their own, and Enid’s eyes travelled to the oversized t-shirt she
was wearing.

“If you’re going to stay like this for an entire month, we’re going to have to find you some different
clothes”, she said.

“Since it appears I have no choice, you may go shopping for me”, Wednesday said in defeat.

“Wends, I can’t go”, Enid sighed, to Wednesday’s unpleasant surprise. “Remember I have library
duty today? It starts in…” She checked the time on her phone. “20 minutes. I do have another idea
though, but you’re not gonna like it.”

“What?” Wednesday asked.

Five minutes later, Enid peaked in through a slit in their door and looked expectantly at
Wednesday.

“No”, the little girl grumbled.

“Come on, Wednesday”, Enid pleaded. “Everyone is going to have to find out at some point! These
are our friends, we can trust them! You and Bianca defeated Crackstone together for Christ’s
sake.”
“You’ve already made up your mind”, Wednesday muttered.

Enid read her expression for a moment, making sure that she wasn’t overstepping. But it was clear
that Wednesday knew that she couldn’t avoid her classmates forever, so Enid turned back out
towards the hallway, where Yoko, Bianca and Divina were waiting. Enid had tried to prepare them
on the way over, but she knew they were bound to be shocked when they got to see it with their
own eyes.

“You can come in”, she said, and opened the door a little wider.

The three classmates took a step inside and all of their eyes widened in shock when they took in
Wednesday’s new appearance.

“Wow”, Bianca breathed. “Enid was not kidding, Addams. You look…”

“Adorable!” Divina squealed, which earned her a glare from both Enid and Wednesday. “She’s
adorable, right?” she continued, a little more uncertainly, to Yoko and Bianca. “We’re all seeing
this..?”

“Use that word again and it will be the last word you ever say”, Wednesday told her.

But unfortunately, her threat did not have the effect she’d hoped for. It was the first time her
classmates heard her new voice, and let’s just say, they would hardly describe it as threatening.
The three friends could not hide their amusement, and they all tried to stifle a laugh.

This made Enid see red, and she immediately pushed all three of them back out in the hallway.

“I didn’t bring you here so you could laugh at her!” she fumed when the door had closed behind
them.

Divina gave her a guilty look, while Bianca was still laughing.

“I’m sorry, Enid”, Yoko tried. “We’re not trying to be mean, we just… It’s pretty funny, you can’t
deny that!”

“I thought you might be able to make yourselves useful and help us out, but I’m not letting you
back in until you can behave yourselves!” Enid told them firmly.

“Okay!” Bianca said. “You don’t have to be so aggressive about it.”

Enid scrutinized them for a long moment.

“Are you ready to come back inside?” she then asked them.

“Yes, we’ll behave”, Divina assured her.

Enid carefully opened the door back up, and when they opened it they found Wednesday in the
exact same position they’d left her in: on her bed with her back straight.

“What can we do to help?” Divina tried.

“Wednesday needs new clothes”, Enid explained. “I can’t get any for her because I have library
duty today, so I need someone to go into Jericho before the shops close. Can we count on you?”

“Of course, we’ll do it”, Yoko said. “This is gonna be fun.”

Bianca approached Wednesday’s bed and half-circled around it, looking at her from different
angles.

“You look like age 2-3 would do”, she hummed, then, turning towards Enid, she added. “Do you
have a ruler?”

“What for?” Enid asked in confusion.

“Shoe size”, Bianca said with raised eyebrows, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Enid dug out a ruler from her desk and passed it to Bianca, who looked expectantly at Wednesday.
After a moment of hesitation, the sour girl stretched her tiny little foot out towards the siren, who
quickly measured it.

“Alright, so how much do you need?” Divina asked.

“Well, we'll be able to go get more stuff next weekend if we need, so enough to get by until then”,
Enid explained. “I really have to run now. I’ll be back before dinner, Wednesday! These guys will
get you sorted!”

All four of them moved out into the hallway again, and as soon as the door had closed, Enid turned
to her friends.

“Don’t mess this up”, she threatened with a glare. “You know she hates colors, so be nice and try
to find something she’ll actually wear. She’s already suffering, there’s no need to pour salt in her
wounds!”

“Don’t worry”, Yoko said with a smirk. “We’ll take good care of your girl.”

Enid frowned in confusion at her knowing smirk.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” she asked.

Yoko threw her hands up in defense.

“Nothing”, she said. “Off you go. Mrs. Malcolm is waiting for you in the library. You’re already
late.”

Wednesday did not get much done while she was left on her own. Her classmates were gone for
three hours before she heard a knock on the door.

This is just a bit of torture, she thought to herself as she shuffled towards the door in her oversized
t-shirt. You like torture.

On the other side of the door, her three classmates were waiting with multiple shopping bags. She
let them in so that they could dump the bags by her bed. A little curious, she reached in and pulled
out the first item she touched. It was a black t-shirt, much like the one she was wearing. She
wouldn’t have minded it much if it weren’t for the rainbow that covered most of the front. Then,
her eyes filled with horror as she spotted something peaking out from one of the bags. She went to
pull it out, and found herself looking at a small winter coat. It was a light shade of pink, with a
pattern of cute little bunnies covering every inch. She looked up at her classmates, unamused.

“We tried our best, we really did!” Divina said in defense. “It’s mostly black! But there weren’t
that many black options in your size, at least not plain black, and the 'outdoor section' was very
small…”

Yepp, this was definitely going to be torture.

“So, you wanna give us a catwalk?” Bianca joked, but she was met with an unamused dark glare.

The air in the room suddenly felt a little awkward. They all accepted Wednesday because Enid
cared about her so much. But none of them were used to spending any time with her without the
werewolf around, and she did such a good job at keeping people out that in many moments, she
still felt like a complete stranger.

They all felt how ridiculous Bianca’s suggestion was. While she had let them help her, this was as
close as they were going to get.

“Well, goodbye then…” Divina said and awkwardly scratched her neck.

And they scrambled out of the room before they invaded the girl’s privacy too much.

When Enid got back from her shift of dusting off shelves and sorting returned books back into their
places, she found the door to the bathroom locked and closed. Unable to contain her curiosity, she
started rooting through the shopping bags, placing the items of clothing on Wednesday’s bed as she
went through them. She was happy to see her friends seemed to have tried to appeal to
Wednesday’s taste, but there was no getting around the fact that these clothes contained a lot more
color than Wednesday was used to, and that they were simply adorable.

Curious to see what Wednesday had put on, she knocked on the bathroom door.

“Come on out, Wednesday”, she said. “Dinner time has already started.”

She knew that if she made a big deal out of the baby clothes, it would make Wednesday feel bad,
so she hoped to be able to distract her by diverting the subject. She was content when the door
opened to reveal little Wednesday standing in the doorway looking sour. She was wearing the only
plain black outfit she had found. If you squinted really hard, it could almost, almost, remind you of
the dress she had worn to the raven. In reality, Enid realized that it was actually a long-sleeved
leotard with a fluffy, tutu-like, skirt that went down to her knees, and matching black stockings. In
combination with her tiny pigtails, she definitely looked like a kid on her way to her first dance
recital.

“Don’t pout”, Enid said. “You look fine! Since when do you care what people think of you,
anyway?”

Supposing she was right, Wednesday sighed and walked out into the room.

“Let’s go ruin my reputation”, she said, and they were off.

Despite how self-conscious she felt over her current situation, Wednesday reminded herself of who
she really was. She was Wednesday Addams. She was used to people staring at her, talking about
her… And so she held her head high through the corridors of the school, tuning out the shocked
whispers as she passed like she’d had so much practice doing.

They were among the last to enter the cafeteria, which thankfully meant that a lot of students had
already left, leaving them with a smaller audience. They each grabbed a plate of carbonara, and
made their way towards the table where Yoko, Divina, Bianca, Ajax, Xavier and Kent were all
sitting. Wednesday discovered it wasn’t as easy as she was used to to carry her plate. On multiple
occasions she was close to spilling her pasta sauce, before Enid took the plate out of her hands and
carried both of theirs.

The guys had been filled in on the situation as Divina had a hard time keeping secrets, but since it
was impossible to imagine without seeing with your own eyes, they were still stunned when they
saw her approach. The table fell into silence for a few seconds before Bianca spoke up.

“Well, aren’t you two adorable”, she said.

“I advise you to move onto another subject of conversation”, Wednesday said before she stabbed a
bite of food and brought it to her mouth.

Knowing Wednesday wanted nothing more than to not be the topic of conversation, Enid made it
her mission to distract their classmates with other subjects to talk about. This allowed Wednesday
to sit in silence, just as she preferred. Enid ended up getting so into the conversation, she didn’t pay
attention to the roommate next to her. Not until she heard Yoko’s voice from across the table.

“Uhm, Enid?” she said, giving her a strange look. “You might wanna take care of that...”

The last part was said with a nod towards Wednesday’s chair. Enid looked down and she was
speechless for a long moment.

It seemed the eventful day had taken its toll on Wednesday. She’d finished about half her dinner.
Now, her eyes were closed and her head bobbed a little, almost dipping into her plate, before she
sat up straighter again, seemingly fighting to stay upright in her state of sleep.

“Hey, Wends…” Enid put a hand on her shoulder, hoping she would wake up a little when she
spoke to her. “Let’s go to bed, okay?”

But there was no reaction at all. The girl’s eyes were still closed and her head dipped again.

“I think you’d better grab her before she drowns in that sauce”, Bianca told her.

Enid swallowed nervously. She was a little hesitant to cross Wednesday’s strict boundaries, but
seeing as she had no choice, she finally stood up from her seat and grabbed hold underneath the
girl’s arms, hoisting her up. She’d thought for sure that Wednesday would wake up as she was
being lifted, but it seemed she was already long gone. She felt a little heavier than expected, but
that was probably because she was asleep. Her head landed heavily against Enid’s shoulder when
she adjusted her grip, so that Wednesday was now seated on Enid’s arms, straddling her waist.

She shared a surprised look with her friends.

“I guess this is goodnight…?” she said.

She turned around and walked carefully through the castle, carrying her best friend like a very
valuable and fragile cargo. When she got to their dorm, she headed straight over to Wednesday’s
bed, but once she reached it she stopped. Suddenly, she felt reluctant to let go of the warm little
bundle in her arms. A new level of fondness had been awakened within her. How could this be her
best friend? The same one that could easily slice you open with a sword if she wanted to. Enid took
in her long eyelashes, and the steady rise and fall of her chest. This was a whole new side of her,
and it made Enid wonder how many more layers she still had left to uncover.

Last semester, when she’d worked so hard to befriend her, she had hoped, of course, that they
would become closer. But she had never dared to believe that they would ever be this close. That
Wednesday would allow herself to show such vulnerable sides of herself.
Finally, she did place her down on the bed, which looked huge compared to her small form. She
only removed the little shoes that their classmates had bought, but then she pulled the covers over
her, allowing her to sleep in her leotard. She returned to her own side of the room with a smile on
her face, and a feeling that this failed spell was not exactly the worst thing that had ever happened.

Chapter End Notes

Soo, Wednesday will be small for quite a long time! That gives us plenty of time to
explore different situations to put her in!

In the next chapter, Wednesday will be forced to let Enid in even closer as it becomes
apparent she may need a little more help than she initially thought
Chapter 3
Chapter Notes

Hello again!

Thank you for all the love. I'm having a blast writing little scenes to the ideas you're
giving me!! Who knew it was so much fun?? I've never written things off prompts
before, so thank you guys for helping me discover a new interest lol I can't promise
every idea is going to make it into the story, but a lot of new scenes have come to me
after reading your comments (some may be a few chapters ahead).

A couple that made it into this one:

‘tief’ wanted to see Wednesday sleeping with Enid so here’s some of that
‘Wednesday fan’ mentioned tantrums so we’re throwing a bit of that in here too!

Enjoy!

See the end of the chapter for more notes

Wednesday slowly gained consciousness, feeling very disoriented. It was still night outside, and
for a moment, she forgot what had happened yesterday. All she felt was how weird her body felt.
She also had no memory of going to bed. But in her half-asleep state, confusion turned to horror
when she realized why she had woken up.

She sat up and pulled her covers back to reveal the wet puddle she’d woken up in. Feeling the
immediate instinct to fix it, she slid down to the floor, almost losing her balance as she wasn’t quite
awake. She started trying to rip the sheets off of the bed, but it was a bit of a struggle to do so with
her small arms and weak grip, and in her dazed state she didn’t realize where it got stuck, and
continued pulling it the wrong way.

She didn’t even notice when Enid woke up until the werewolf was standing right next to her.

“Wednesday, what are you… oh…”, Enid breathed beside her.

While Wednesday was struggling with her sheets, her best friend faced an internal struggle, when
she realized what had happened. Because now, they had reached a territory that Enid was
absolutely positive Wednesday wanted no one else to witness. Enid herself would not want to be in
such a vulnerable position in front of anyone, and she felt like a terrible friend for intruding.

But she couldn’t just leave Wednesday to her disoriented attempts at cleaning up her mess, that
would also make her a terrible friend. So she wordlessly helped pull the sheets off the bed, it only
took a second with her help. Then, she grabbed Wednesday’s little hand and led her towards the
bathroom. The smaller girl was still so sleepy, her eyes quickly squeezed shut when Enid turned
the light on before she started drawing her a bath.

“I’ll help you out of your clothes, okay?” Enid said, crouching down in front of her.

Wednesday yawned and rubbed her eyes, trying to squint in the bright light. But she then grabbed
onto Enid’s shoulder for balance, and Enid understood it was her way of saying she was accepting
help. The werewolf pulled down her tutu and Wednesday stepped out of it. When she was free of
the rest of her clothes, the tub had a few inches of water, and seeing as Wednesday was so small,
and only needed a quick wash, Enid figured it was enough and turned the water off.

When she lifted Wednesday into the tub, that’s when the other girl finally seemed to begin to wake
up properly. A look of humiliation creeping onto her face, she barely dared look Enid in the eyes.

“I am terribly sorry”, she said.

“It’s okay!” Enid said with emphasis.

“I don’t know what happened, I…”, Wednesday said. “I didn’t wake up.”

“Well, little you is a heavy sleeper”, Enid said. “I know because I carried you to bed.”

Wednesday looked, if possible, even more horrified.

“It’s in the middle of the night”, she said. “You are not required to babysit me. You should go to
bed.”

“Not a chance”, Enid answered. “You were practically asleep like two seconds ago. I’m not gonna
let you fall asleep in the tub.”

She placed the bottle of shower gel in Wednesday’s hands.

“Here”, she said. “Wash yourself off a little and I’ll go see if the girls bought you any pajamas.”

Wednesday gulped, staring down at the bottle in her hands.

“Thank you”, she then mumbled.

Enid left the door open so that she would be able to hear Wednesday, and she hurried to the raven’s
wardrobe where her new clothes had been put away by Thing. She had to look around for a bit, but
to her joy, she found two one piece pajamas that seemed to have been bought as a set. She grabbed
one that was a very dark shade of blue, with a cute and smiling moon covering the stomach and
little stars spread all over the rest of it, as well as a pair of underwear.

After that she hurried back to the bathroom to make sure Wednesday wasn’t drowning, and found
the girl seemed finished rinsing the soap off. Enid placed the pajama on the ground, as well as a
towel. Seeing as the smaller girl was awake now, she knew she could get herself sorted and wanted
to give her a moment of privacy.

“I’ll leave you to get dressed?” she said, but it sounded like a question.

When Wednesday nodded, Enid turned around, gathered up Wednesday’s soaked clothes and went
to put them away in a plastic bag with her sheets to deal with later. She could hear the girl climbing
out of the tub, and the shuffling sounds that followed as she dried herself off and got dressed.

When she emerged, she started heading over to her side of the room.

“Wait”, Enid said. “Where are you going?”

“To bed”, Wednesdays answered.

“You can’t sleep there”, Enid said. “We’ll get your bed sorted in the morning. You can sleep next
to me in the meantime. We have to get up soon anyway.”
It was true, they only had two hours left before they would have to get up. Enid only hoped that
Wednesday could last that long without wetting the bed again. But the coming nights until she was
big again, they would have to take other measures to ensure it didn’t happen again, and she already
knew Wednesday was gonna hate it.

“I don’t want to invade your space”, Wednesday said stiffly.

“Oh, come on, Wednesday. You know you’re always welcome in my space!”

Wednesday seemed to ponder for a moment before she finally relented and trailed after Enid
towards the more colorful bed. They both climbed up and Wednesday settled in her preferred
corpse pose. But she kept her eyes open, staring up at the ceiling with a troubled look on her face.
Enid could only imagine how much she was berating herself over having had to let Enid help her
like this. Enid pulled the covers up over the smaller girl, and propped herself up on her elbow,
giving her a comforting smile.

“Don’t worry about it”, she said reassuringly. “You would do the same for me in a heartbeat and
you know it. Let’s sleep.”

Wednesday’s eyes travelled over to Enid, and she looked at her for a moment out of the corner of
her eye. Then, she subtly blinked once before she closed her eyes, and Enid happily laid her head
down.

“Good night”, she said.

Enid managed to fall back asleep, and when she woke up and checked the time, there were only a
few minutes left until her alarm was to go off. She felt something warm pressed up against her, and
turned to see Wednesday had turned around in her sleep and was now sleeping on her stomach,
with her hand tucked under her chin, comfortably resting against Enid's side. Enid had never seen
her sleep in any other way than her stiff corps position, but she looked so much more relaxed in
this moment than she ever had before. It made Enid wonder at what point she had stopped letting
herself be fully at ease.

The alarm went off, and when Wednesday started stirring, Enid realized she did not want to be
caught staring at her. She turned to shut the alarm off, and went into her closet to fetch her
uniform. When she exited the closet, Wednesday was fully awake and on her way to her own
closet.

“I guess they can’t force you to wear your uniform…” Enid realized.

“What a joy”, Wednesday muttered sarcastically.

It wasn’t like the alternative was very tempting either.

“I’ll be in the shower”, Enid said, before she looked herself in the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Wednesday looked through her new wardrobe to see what horror she would have to
put on today. She found a mildly torturous outfit. Grey leggings with white hearts on them would
do. Then there was that black t-shirt with the rainbow. She grumpily put it on and set out to find
her shoes.

She found them by the door to their dorm, where Enid had put them away after taking them off last
night. She quickly realized it was hard to keep her balance on one foot, so she sat down to put them
on. But as she did, she encountered a problem. Yesterday she had only slipped them on, but this
time she found Enid must have untied the laces. She started trying to tie them, and soon frustration
welled up inside her.

She knew how to tie shoelaces, and she tried to tell her hands what to do, but they would not
cooperate. Her fingers fumbled with the laces, and no matter what she did, they seemed to slip out
of her grip. She got so angry with herself, so very angry, that she soon felt tears starting to emerge
again.

These cursed tears.

But there was no stopping them. The sorrow she felt for her inability to finish this simple task was
too strong. And yes, maybe she was still upset over the events that had taken place during the
night. Under normal circumstances, she would understand that this was a simple challenge that
would only last one short month. It was nothing she couldn’t handle. But not one thought of logic
passed through her mind in this moment.

Taken over by the wave of frustration, she threw herself back on the floor, trying to will the tears to
go back to where they came from. When Enid emerged from the bathroom, she was met with a
slightly amusing sight. Wednesday was lying sprawled on her back by the door, legs stretched out
in two directions, arms crossed over her face, hiding her upset expression. Her whole body
language was screaming toddler tantrum.

Sensing her roommate’s silent presence, a part of Wednesday recognized that she was being
completely unreasonable. Deeply ashamed, she desperately tried to get her emotions under control,
but to no avail.

“Don’t talk to me”, she finally growled, but it came out as a sob, her voice thick with tears.

Though Enid felt for her and definitely didn’t want her to be upset, she did have to hold back a
smile. Her eyes wandered, trying to find the source of the girl’s frustration, and her gaze finally
settled on the untied shoelaces.

While still hiding behind her arms, Wednesday felt something tugging at her shoes, and when she
finally made herself look, Enid had tied her laces for her. She waited for peace of mind to instill,
but her harrowing emotions seemed to have latched themselves onto her and she stayed on the
ground in a heap of tears.

Enid frowned as she watched her best friend break down. Always so conscious of giving her space,
she hesitated in her spot, not wanting to overstep. But Wednesday was not regulating herself, and
considering how rarely she let herself feel in her normal state, Enid did not have much faith in her
ability to handle strong emotions under these conditions.

“What do you need, Wednesday?” she asked carefully. “How can I help?”

Wednesday couldn’t answer, because the truth was she didn’t know. She wasn’t used to expressing
her emotions, and she had no idea why she was so sad, nor what she needed to not be sad anymore.
At this point, Enid felt desperate to help her.

“Will you let me try something?” she asked. “You can say stop anytime you want.”

She watched Wednesday’s reaction carefully as she picked her up and enveloped her in a hug,
offering some deep pressure. Wednesday was momentarily stunned, and her sobs immediately
decreased in intensity, but she kept on crying quietly. She didn’t return the hug. Instead, her arms
hung limply at her sides, while she cried into Enid’s chest.
“Is this too much?” Enid asked. “Do you want me to let go?”

After a few seconds of silence, Enid had to strain her ears to hear Wednesday’s answer.

“No”, the little girl mumbled into her chest.

Enid smiled and leaned her head lightly on top of Wednesday’s, rocking her a little while they both
stayed on the floor for a few minutes until Wednesday seemed to be in control of her breathing
again.

Wednesday had to admit that this type of hugging was incredibly comforting and very effective.
She could feel all those tough feelings seep out of her and be replaced by calm. She surprisingly
found herself not wanting this physical contact to end. But they were already late at this point, and
if they wanted to have breakfast before classes started, they would have to start moving.

Enid was the one that finally moved, sitting Wednesday up straighter so she could look her in the
eye and offer her a smile.

“You made it!” she said. “We all have hard moments, but the good thing about them is that they
pass.”

“No one will hear about this”, Wednesday threatened.

“Obviously”, Enid answered. “When I let you confide in me it’s because I plan to keep it
confidential. Now, we should probably go eat, or have you forgotten what happens when you get
hungry?”

They got up, but before they could open their door, there was a knock on it. Wednesday quickly
dried her cheeks, making sure that there were no traces of tears left. When Enid opened the door,
they found the nurse standing there with a little wooden box in her hands.

“Good morning”, she greeted them and took a step inside. “You haven’t forgotten that you’ll need
to drink a vial of potion each morning, have you?”

Wednesday shook her head, and the nurse placed the box she’d been holding on the little table that
held Wednesday’s gramophone. When she opened it up, it revealed 7 small vials.

“This is for the first week”, she explained. “I’ve got more in my office so I’ll come by with more in
a week.”

She took out a little vial and passed it to Wednesday.

“Here you go”, she said. “Make sure you drink the whole thing.”

Both the nurse and Enid watched as Wednesday uncorked the bottle and brought it to her lips.
Fearlessly, she poured the contents into her mouth, but that’s when a very surprising and
unwelcome reflex messed things up a little. Before she knew what happened, her small tongue shot
out from her mouth and she spat the whole thing out. The blue, gooey substance ran down her t-
shirt, making a mess on the ugly rainbow on the front (not a huge problem, according to
Wednesday, of course.). She looked a little stunned by her own actions, but her tongue was still
stinging where the potion had touched it.

“What happened?” Enid asked her.

Wednesday gave her another one of her moments of grumpy silence before she spoke.
“It’s… spicy”, she admitted.

Because of her Mexican heritage, she had never had a problem with spicy food before. But now it
seemed her tongue had become more sensitive, and the spiciness had been highly unwelcome.

“Do you want water?” Enid asked.

“Mhm…” Wednesday glared.

Enid went to fetch a water bottle, while the nurse looked unamused.

“You’ll have to find a way to swallow it anyway”, she said. “Thankfully, I made a little extra so it
will last the whole month, but no more wasting vials! Try again and this time you’ll drink all of it.”

A water bottle was put in Wednesday’s hand and she gulped down a few sips before the bottle was
taken away and replaced by a new vial from the box. Now that she was prepared, she braced
herself and swallowed the contents quickly before her tongue had the time to protest, making a face
in the meantime. When she was done she was offered more water from Enid. She didn’t feel any
different but, of course, she knew it would take an entire month before the potion did what it was
supposed to.

“Good”, the nurse said. “Now that you know what to do, you’ll just have to repeat the same thing
for the next 29 days. I’ll leave the box of vials here and refill it when you run out.”

She left the room, leaving the two roommates alone. Enid looked down at the mess on
Wednesday’s t-shirt.

“It looks like you’ll have to get changed again before we leave”, she said. “Maybe Thing can do
the laundry while were in class.”

Wednesday slipped out of the t-shirt and went to find another, while Enid added the gooey t-shirt to
the bag of wet clothes and sheets from the incident during the night.

Who knew that it would be so messy to deal with a toddler-sized Wednesday?

Chapter End Notes

While I feel bad for her, because it must be a really tough struggle, it seems
Wednesday is getting pretty cozy with Enid!

Will there be more sleepy cuddly Wednesday in the future? I get the feeling that she
kinda liked sleeping in Enid’s bed, so I definitely think she’ll let it happen again at
some point… And I’ll bet that the more she starts to trust Enid, the cuddlier she’ll get!

On another note, it might be a little overly luxurious to have a private bathtub in your
dorm, but then again their school is in a castle, so I don’t think it’s all that hard to
picture…

And don’t worry, she won’t be this sad all the time. I just think she’s a bit
overwhelmed now that everything is new. Only one day has passed after all!

In the next one we’ll see Wednesday being very adorable while going to her classes in
her shrunken state. What else would you like to see? As you know I’m getting a lot of
writing done from your ideas so fire away!
Chapter 4
Chapter Notes

Hiya! Thank you again for your feedback and suggestions! I'm working on including
as many as possible.

‘a_business_of_ferrets’ suggested I show Wednesday tackling stairs with her tiny legs,
very cute suggestion ^^
And 'wispr' accurately predicted that Wednesday would be having trouble keeping
notes in class, which you will see here

See the end of the chapter for more notes

After her outing in the cafeteria last night, it was clear that the word about Wednesday’s condition
had spread throughout the school. It seemed the nurse had informed the teachers, too, because
when Wednesday reached her desk during first period, she found a stack of encyclopedias on her
chair, a makeshift solution to help her reach her desk better.

Enid noticed the books and thought it looked like a challenging climb but, not wanting to hover too
much, she stood back, on edge, and watched as Wednesday climbed, ready to step in and catch her
at any moment if she fell down. But the girl did manage to get herself up on the chair, and Enid
could finally relax, sitting down in her own seat.

Wednesday was still apprehensive about getting any attention from her classmates. She hoped she
wouldn’t have to speak in class today, and was content when she found out that all they would be
doing was write on their book reports.

But the class did not end up completely painless. It seemed her fine motor skills, which had caused
her trouble with her shoelaces earlier that morning, also caused trouble when writing. This time,
she did manage to do the task at hand, but it was taxing in a way it never used to be. The muscles
in her hand were not trained to write, and it took more than twice the time it normally would to
write out the shape of the letters, and they ended up looking crooked, as though written by a toddler
(which, as a matter of fact, they were). By the end of class her hand was aching terribly and yet
she’d only gotten a few sentences done. It was very far from her best work.

Wednesday was used to being on top of the class, so this was very new for her. Embarrassed to let
anyone see how much she was struggling, she quickly stuffed her notebook away before the
students all headed towards their next class. By the time lunch time came, she was exhausted. She
was thankful that she wasn’t known to be chatty, and that her silence could be interpreted to be
caused by her regular sulkiness and not fatigue.

For their botany class after lunch, they would have to go outside. This meant that Wednesday
reluctantly had to put on the pink winter coat that her friends had bought for her. The little bunnies
decorating it seemed to be taunting her. Her classmates had actually managed to find her a black
hat. However, it had two little pompoms of black yarn on top of it, which made it look like she had
the ears of a teddy bear when she put it on. She put it on anyway, as the cold temperature outside
left her no choice.

When Wednesday entered the school’s foyer, where a few of her classmates were starting to gather,
Enid had to bite her tongue not to let an “aww” slip out. For a moment, she almost forgot that it was
very much her same old roommate hiding behind this innocent exterior. Standing before her was a
sweet little child that had to be protected at all costs.

They started walking down towards the greenhouse that was located on the way to the lake. Enid
stayed a step behind Wednesday and smiled watching the little pompoms on her hat bounce as she
toddled forwards with small steps.

To get to the green house, they had to go down a series of stone steps laid out on the hill.
Wednesday had, of course, walked here many times before, but she didn’t realize just how steep
these steps were. With her usual confidence, not taking into account the shortness of her legs, she
started her descent. But after only a couple of steps she suddenly lost her footing, stumbling
helplessly and falling forwards before she had any way of regaining her balance. Thankfully there
was a landing after the first few steps, and she didn’t fall far, but it still shook her. She stayed
frozen on her stomach where she had landed, trying to sense if she was injured anywhere, but it
seemed her fluffy coat had broken the fall.

Enid’s heart caught in her throat, watching the tiny creature tumble down the steps. She hurried
down to the landing, crouching next to her.

“Are you okay?” she asked breathlessly.

When Wednesday didn’t answer, Enid grabbed her and put her back on her feet again. She couldn’t
see any blood, and it didn’t seem like she’d been harmed.

Wednesday finally decided she felt fine, and turned to keep walking down the stairs. But before
she could she felt a hand in hers, and looked up to see Enid smiling down at her. Maybe a hand to
hold wasn’t such a bad idea, as it made the rest of the walk easier. The steps were so big that
Wednesday had to take two steps on each of them. She would have probably lost her balance again
if she wasn’t holding Enid’s hand, which was so high up that she had to stretch her own hand far
above her head to reach it.

The botany class turned out to be another challenge that made it very hard for Wednesday to
participate. The garden shears that they were to use were much too large for her, and she had no
way of getting a grip. She was partnered up with Yoko, who was much too sweet to her for
Wednesday’s liking. She did all the parts that Wednesday couldn’t do, all while throwing
reassuring glances towards Enid who was watching them like she was afraid Yoko was going to
harm her in any way.

When they had wrapped the class up, they started heading back towards the castle. When they got
to the bottom of the stone steps, Wednesday stopped in silence, and her dark eyes pinned Enid
under a sullen gaze. Enid watched her in puzzlement for a moment before it dawned on her what
the girl was silently asking for.

“Oh!” she said and quickly took her hand.

The started the climb back up and Wednesday’s short legs worked very hard. She was almost
pulled upwards by Enid. She did stumble a couple of times, but was kept upright solely because
she was hanging onto Enid’s hand. They then headed towards their final two classes of the day,
where Wednesday spent another hour fighting to keep notes while writing by hand like all her
classmates did, managing to note down maybe 3% of what she usually would have written.

She realized with a sinking feeling that she would have to put in a lot of time to catch up on the
schoolwork she hadn’t managed to finish in class. So, as soon as class finished, she got down from
her seat and hurried towards the dorm as fast as she could, Enid walking by her side.

“I’ll be doing homework”, she said when they reached it. “I don’t want to be disturbed.”

“Okay!” Enid answered her, supportive as always. “I’ll see you a little later then.”

In reality, she was actually relieved that Wednesday wanted some alone time, because Enid herself
had some business to attend to. She knew that Wednesday expected her to be at photography club
after school like every Monday, so she wouldn’t be suspicious that she was gone.

Enid changed into her casual clothes, put on a warmer coat, said goodbye to Wednesday. But
instead of attending to her duties at the photography club (which, for her, meant skipping an
extracurricular activity for the first time ever), she headed towards the school’s exit. But just as she
was about to go outside, she heard Yoko’s voice behind her.

“Hey, where are you going?” she asked.

Enid did a grimace, before she turned around and smiled towards her friend.

“I just have a quick errand in Jericho”, she said.

“Okay”, Yoko said, but she seemed to find it a little weird that she was sneaking out like this. “Do
you want company?”

“Actually, I kind of wanted to go on my own today”, Enid answered. “I hope that’s okay!”

Yoko looked even more puzzled, but then she shrugged her shoulders.

“See you later, then”, she said.

Enid sighed in gratitude, and then she was off. She kept a high pace, and the walk only lasted 25
minutes. It was a brisk and beautiful afternoon, and normally she would take the time to walk
around a little more. But today, she headed straight for the superstore on the outskirts of town.
Once inside, she made a beeline for the baby section, where she picked up a package of pull-ups in
Wednesday’s size that she was hoping she would use at night. Passing by the section for kids
clothes, she also picked up a pair of shoes with Velcro instead of laces, black like the young raven
preferred.

She suspected Wednesday wouldn’t like either of these things, but that did not change the fact that
it would make her life a lot easier. She just hoped the stubborn girl would be able to accept it.

Not wanting to expose something so private about her best friend, she hid her purchases in her bag
before making the walk back to school.

When she got to their dorm, she found Wednesday typing on her typewriter. By her posture, Enid
could tell that she was tired. Checking the time, she realized that dinner was about to start, and she
thought it’d be best if they got there first this time so that Wednesday could make it through the
meal without falling asleep.
She dumped her bag on the floor.

“Let’s go eat”, she said.

Wednesday looked a little frustrated to be forced to stop writing, but part of her also seemed
relieved to get some rest. She slid down from her seat, and the two friends walked together to the
cafeteria.
Wednesday was so tired she almost felt faint. This time, she gulped down her dinner as fast as she
possibly could, and as soon as she was done she stood up to clear her things away. As she had a
hard time carrying the whole tray, she started with just the plate, but when she got back to the table,
Enid had already helped her clear the rest of her things.

They walked back to their room in silence, and Wednesday looked like she could fall asleep any
second. She immediately went to find the pajamas she’d slept in last night. In the meantime, Enid
grabbed the pull-ups from her bag and brought them into the bathroom, placing them easily
accessible by the toilet.

She left the bathroom to go hang out on her bed instead. While Wednesday needed to go to sleep
immediately, Enid had multiple hours left before she would need to sleep, and she was planning to
use that time to get up to date on her Instagram feed. From her bed she watched as Wednesday
headed for the bathroom to get changed. Her pajamas were trailing behind her on the floor as she
was only holding them by one sleeve, too tired to carry them properly. She disappeared into the
bathroom, only to reappear in the doorway two seconds later, sending Enid a murderous gaze.

“What have you done?” she asked.

Enid had no problem guessing that the girl had spotted the package by the toilet.

“I took a little trip to the store”, she sighed, hoping she was not about to witness another tantrum.

“Enid!” Wednesday growled. “I am not a baby!”

“I know, I know!”, Enid said, putting her hands in the air as a peace sign. “I understand this is
uncomfortable for you, so we don’t have to talk about it. But remember: it’s just a little help, you
know. Just during the night… You don’t look down on Eugene for wearing glasses, do you? When
there are tools available to help overcome something you’re struggling with, it’s okay to use them!
I’m not gonna force you to wear them, but think about it, okay?”

Wednesday scoffed at her before she turned around and locked herself inside the bathroom, leaving
Enid to her Instagram. Inside the bathroom, the little raven glared at the package. She may have
already been forced to throw all her dignity out the window, but she was not gonna sink that low.
She angrily picked up the package and threw it behind the shower curtain so she wouldn’t have to
feel it watching her while she brushed her teeth.

They had placed a stepping stool by the sink that she could use while she was this little. She
climbed up on it and put toothpaste on her toothbrush. Even on top of the stepping stool, she was
still too short to properly see herself in the mirror, but at least she could reach the tap, which was
the most important thing.

She brushed her teeth, feeling her eyelids grow heavier by the second. Once she’d rinsed her
mouth, she got down from the stool and moved to grab her pajamas. She could not wait to sink into
her bed and go to sleep.

But she came to a halt, standing in the middle of the bathroom with the soft one-piece in her hands.
A shiver went down her spine when she remembered the sensation of waking up in a wet bed. All
she wanted was to sleep now, but she could vividly picture waking up like she had last night.
Having to get up in the middle of the night to tidy up the mess again…

No, she corrected herself, forcing Enid to tidy up her mess… She glanced towards the shower
curtain. Last night was possibly the worst thing she had ever experienced. She had to ponder for a
moment: what would she be willing to do to ensure she never humiliated herself like that in front of
Enid again?

She sighed when she finally came to a decision. After getting out of all her clothes, she dragged her
feet over to the shower curtain and retrieved the package, which she immediately ripped open to
grab a pull-up. She defeatedly stepped into it and pulled it all the way up. Still in a bad temper, she
then sat down to start putting her pajamas on, and soon she was finally ready for bed. She left the
bathroom stomping angrily.

Too frustrated with her current situation, she ignored Enid when the werewolf wished her a good
night, opting to silently throw herself into bed where she fell asleep within minutes with a scowl on
her face.

Chapter 5
Chapter Notes

Hello! Hope everyone's had a nice weekend.

As always I am very thankful for your feedback and suggestions! In this chapter, I've
tried writing out the following suggestions:

Tiny terror Wednesday - 'Drunk ideas'

Wednesday needs a nap - 'Wispr'
Enid needs to childproof the room - 'Pesterfield'

See the end of the chapter for more notes

If anything, the following day only further proved what yesterday had hinted at: school was going
to be an issue for Wednesday. Tuesday mornings started off with fencing class, and Wednesday
was put on the sidelines to watch. There was no gear in her size, and also: who in their right mind
would have it in their heart to fight a 2-year-old?

This hour of boredom was followed by three consecutive subjects where she had to strain herself to
the limit trying to write with a pencil. By the time lunch came her right hand was hurting terribly
and yet she felt she’d barely gotten any work done. She once again ate in silence, but during the
class after lunch she felt her emotions start to spiral in a way that was out of her control.

They had been divided into groups to plan a small project on ancient civilizations. The only
positive was that she’d been placed in the same group as Enid, together with Bianca and one of
their faceless classmates, who spent the entire time doodling instead of being of any help.

Enid had been excited to be grouped with Wednesday, and figured the clever girl would be of great
help in a project like this, but she was proven wrong when it turned out Wednesday was impossible
to cooperate with this afternoon. Any suggestion the others had she shot down immediately, and it
seemed every little setback caused her great annoyance.

“How about we make the scriptures our main focus?” Bianca proposed, sliding her textbook across
the table for the others to take a look at the page she had open. “It would offer us a very interesting
perspective.”

But Wednesday hardly glanced at the open page.

“No!” she yelled and before they knew it, she’d pushed the book off the table and onto the floor.

“Okay, what is your problem?” Bianca asked in annoyance.

Wednesday’s normally blank face saw a thousand different emotions in the span of a couple
seconds, before she threw her head back and groaned in a voice that almost sounded close to tears.

“My only problem is you imbeciles!”

Enid took in her friend’s behavior with puzzlement. Sure, the girl had had her difficulties with
emotional regulation ever since she turned into this smaller version of herself. But this level of
unprovoked temper tantrum she’d only really seen on that first day, when she’d skipped lunch and
had a blood sugar dip. This time, they had just had lunch, so hunger could not be the issue.

But Enid thought back to the previous night. Wednesday had been absolutely exhausted at dinner
once again, and practically fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow. That meant that she’d
gone to sleep before 6:30 two nights in a row. Enid didn’t know a lot about toddlers, but she did
suspect that it was too early to be considered a normal bedtime. They were nowhere near bedtime
now, and yet Wednesday was struggling immensely with a simple school assignment. The more
Enid thought about it, the more likely it seemed that her roommate might need to sleep a little in
the afternoon to get through the whole day.

She met Bianca’s eyes across the table, and she could tell that they were both thinking the same
thing. Turning towards her best friend again, she carefully considered her words, not wanting to
escalate the situation.

“Wednesday, how do I put this…” she started, but before she made it any further, Bianca
interrupted her in her no-nonsense way.

“Girl, you need a nap!”

I guess we’re cutting straight to the point, Enid thought, a little afraid of what Wednesday’s
reaction might be.

Wednesday’s sweet toddler eyes turned black, and she looked at the siren with murder on her mind.
While she normally always had a good verbal comeback, in this moment, her mind was blank.
Regular Wednesday took great pride in her self-control. Unfortunately, children don’t typically
start developing impulse control until age 3,5 at the very earliest. Because of this, Wednesday
suddenly found herself on the table, crawling over it to take a swing at Bianca. Her fist met the
siren’s shoulder so softly, Bianca had to suppress a chuckle. Wednesday was definitely not a threat
to anyone while she was like this, but Enid still thought she ought not to be going around hitting
people, so she firmly grabbed the small girl to bring her down from the table.

Wriggling in her arms, Wednesday tried to get out of her grip to continue her attack on the siren.

“Let me down!” she yelled.

By now, the rest of the class had stopped what they were doing as all eyes had turned towards the
scene happening in the middle of the room.

Enid didn’t like having to hold Wednesday against her will, but she kept her grip around her long
enough to mumble “please, let’s just go and you can have a quick nap”, before placing her safely
on the ground.

The small storm cloud immediately sprinted off, yelling: “I don’t need naps!”

This time, she climbed onto a bookshelf in a corner of the classroom, looking to avoid getting
trapped again. Her classmates were still watching in awe, but their teacher, Mrs. Bate, was starting
to look very displeased.

“Wednesday Addams!” she roared. “Get down from there at once!”

She made the mistake of approaching her, but soon froze when a knife soared past her. A knife that
Wednesday had somehow fit in her small shoe. Mrs. Bate’s eyes grew larger and she took a couple
of steps back.
Enid felt terrible knowing Wednesday was about to get in trouble, when she knew this would never
have happened had she only gotten her sleep needs met. She looked at the teacher with pleading
eyes.

“Mrs. Bate”, she said. “Wednesday isn’t really herself. It’s not right to force her to sit through
classes the whole day like this. She needs to sleep. May I please have permission to take her back to
our dorm for a nap?”

“Yes, take her away from here!” the teacher yelled with rage.

When Enid looked back towards the bookshelf, Wednesday had abandoned it. She had now
climbed onto the windowsill, and Enid drew a quick breath in shock when she saw that, somehow,
the curtain was on fire. She took a step closer to take Wednesday away form there when the little
girl pulled out another knife, hidden in her other shoe. Enid felt sheer panic explode in her chest
when she witnessed her coming alarmingly close to poking her own eye out as she drew the knife.
While the rest of the class moved back at the sight of the knife, Enid put any concern for her own
safety aside as a furious determination not to let the girl get hurt fueled her to move forward.

She made a lunge for the knife, grabbing Wednesday’s small wrist and prying it out of her
surprisingly strong grip before she took the screaming kid under one arm and headed towards the
door, grabbing both their bags with her other hand on the way out.

As soon as the door shut between them and their classmates, Wednesday wiggled free of her grip,
but then, it was like she deflated right in front of Enid. Her walls came crashing down and the dam
broke, allowing tears to start flowing, accompanied by bitter sobs. Enid held her hand to tug her
forwards, and Wednesday trailed behind her, dragging her feet on the ground in reluctance, all
while wailing loudly.

The wailing increased when they got to the stairs and Wednesday caught sight of the very long
climb ahead of them. Enid wordlessly picked her up and placed her on her hip. This allowed her to
start walking faster. She felt desperate to get her friend to sleep. The girl was so far past tired now,
it was painful to watch.

When they got to the dorm, Wednesday was still crying, and she kept going even after Enid had
placed her in her bed. The werewolf was starting to wonder how much longer she’d be able to
endure it. Sometimes she’d seen parents in public, struggling with their babies crying like this. But
she’d had no idea it was this stressful. How did they do it? In reality, Wednesday hadn’t been
crying all that long, but Enid felt like her heart would break if she had to listen to it for one more
second.

She remembered that the girl had in fact let herself be comforted when she broke down over her
shoelaces, and she decided it was worth a try this time as well.

So, the werewolf lay down next to her and pulled her close to her chest.

“Please, Wednesday! It’ll be okay, I promise!” she said in desperation.

The small girl leaned into her, but it took yet another few minutes before the crying started to
subside. The little raven covered her eyes with the back of her hand, hiding her tears while
simultaneously blocking out the daylight. Caught in Enid’s safe embrace, and in the comfort of
darkness, her sobs slowly grew weaker and further between. Finally, Enid watched in relief as the
little arm that she’d been holding up grew heavier and eventually dropped down on her chest,
revealing her sweet face, asleep with tear tracks still covering her cheeks.
Enid couldn’t stop thinking about how drastically her mood had changed this afternoon. Despite
Wednesday’s current inability to hold back her own emotions, it was like something was still
stopping her from letting her feelings out while they were among their friends. She was able to
express anger, yes, but the second she was alone with Enid she could finally let her true feelings
out. And it didn’t seem like she was consciously putting up a façade. It was more like she was truly
unable to express herself.

It made Enid look at Wednesday’s recent breakdowns differently. Her friend was going through
something incredibly challenging, and if the only time she was able to express how much it
bothered her was in Enid’s company, then the werewolf was eternally grateful to be allowed to
offer her that comfort.

She carefully wiped the tears off of her cheeks and, once again, admired her innocent features.

Is this what our baby would look like?

The thought popped into her mind out of nowhere, and it wasn’t until a few seconds later that she
realized how absolutely insane it was.

Wait, what?

What could she possibly have meant? There was no such thing as their baby. That would require a
them. A whole other type of them than what it meant to be best friends/roommates.

So many thoughts started whirling inside her head, she couldn’t even focus on one long enough to
know what it was saying. She decided it was best to focus on something else, and slowly let go of
the sleeping toddler, making sure she was covered by her blanket before she stood up completely.

Looking around the room, she spotted Thing on Wednesday’s desk, from where he had witnessed
the breakdown with concern. She walked around the bed to speak to him.

“Help me find all her weapons!” she said.

Thing squirmed a little under her gaze.

W-I-L-L MAKE HER M-A-D, he signed.

“So?” Enid responded. “Let her be pissed. She can’t even tie her shoelaces right now. She came
really close to taking her own eye out with one of her knives. There’s absolutely no reason for her
to have an abundance of weapons at hand while her motor skills are severely compromised. Not to
mention her lack of emotional control… Please help me.”

Thing finally “nodded”, and the two of them started rummaging through the room, searching every
possible place to hide a weapon. Enid was slightly horrified when she saw the amount of
dangerous objects that her roommate had been hiding, and she really hoped that they had found
everything. Thinking back to Wednesday’s sudden outburst in the classroom, she decided to check
her bookbag too, in case there were more surprises in store in there. She poured the contents onto
the ground, satisfied to see that there weren’t any weapons. Just to be sure, she felt with her hand
along the lining of the bag to see that there weren’t any secret hiding spots.

When she was satisfied with her search, she went to put everything back. That’s when she noticed
Wednesday’s notebook that had fallen open on the ground. It was open on a page containing her
notes from their philosophy class that morning. It was just that… she’d barely written anything at
all. Her words were crooked in a way that told Enid they had been very difficult for her to write.
She glanced over at her sleeping friend. No wonder she was exhausted.
Enid berated herself for not realizing sooner that writing would be an issue for Wednesday. This
month would be agony for her unless a few things were changed to accommodate her. Enid decided
at once that they would need to pay a visit to the new principal later that afternoon.

After checking the time, she realized that her next class had already started. She knew that she
wouldn’t be excused for the whole afternoon, but felt reluctant to leave her sleeping friend. The
fact that Thing was around calmed her down a little, however.

“Will you keep an eye on her while I’m gone?” she asked, earning a thumbs up from the hand.

She nodded towards him in gratitude before heading out the door.

Wednesday didn’t wake up until the final period of the day was almost over, and when Enid got
back to their dorm she found the little storm cloud sitting on her bed with a glare.

“I believe I overreacted slightly earlier”, she said. “I do sincerely apologize.”

Enid had to chuckle a little.

“It’s okay… We just have to keep you fed and rested, alright?”

She approached the smaller girl and sat down next to her on the bed.

“Now…”, she said. “You and I are going to have a chat with the principal.”

“Why?” Wednesday asked with annoyance.

“Wends, you’re really struggling with school”, Enid said softly. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Her words were met with cold silence.

“It’s not your fault”, the werewolf continued. “And you don’t deserve to work 10 times as hard just
to get your homework done. That’s not going to be sustainable in the long run, and this is how
things will be for a month, after all. They have to allow you some adaptations or it’s not fair for
you. You don’t want to lose your position at the top of the class, do you?”

The raven’s inability to speak about more emotional matters left her silent, but Enid was confident
that her message had gotten across, so she stood up.

“Come on”, she said and started walking towards the door, grabbing Wednesday’s bag to bring
with her.

Soon, she heard little steps behind her, and she smiled in victory.

The school had yet to find a new, permanent, principal. Following Larissa Weems’s demise, their
Alchemy teacher, Mr. Martens, had been appointed the role of temporary principal. He was far
from the students’ favorite teacher, and Enid felt a bit of dread as she knocked on his office. They
were called inside, and the sight of Mr. Martens at Weems’s old desk only made them miss their
old principal more.

“What seems to be the problem?” Mr. Martens asked, while flipping through papers on his desk
instead of looking them in the eye.

“Well”, Enid said nervously. “We would like to speak to you about Wednesday’s situation, and
how we can adapt the curriculum to suit her needs until her spell is lifted.”
He finally looked up, raising one eyebrow in skepticism.

“Wednesday is one of the brightest students at this school. She needs no adaptations”, he said,
before returning to the paperwork before him.

Enid was starting to get annoyed now. She walked closer to the desk, making him look up at her
again. Wednesday crawled up in one of the armchairs and took a seat.

“I didn’t say she’s not bright”, Enid said. “But she has some physical limitations right now that
make it very difficult for her to live up to your expectations.”

“Such as?” the principal asked in a bored tone.

Enid sighed and opened Wednesday’s bag, showing him a few of the girl’s notes from the past
couple of days.

“Her motor skills are limited, which puts her at a disadvantage as we’re all required to write by
hand a large portion of the day”, she said. “For her to have a fair chance to keep up, she should be
allowed to use a laptop in the classroom.”

Mr. Martens looked appalled by the suggestion.

“No one is allowed to use a laptop in the classroom”, he said. “It has to be equal for everyone! It
would be unfair to allow one student such a tool. She can write, you just showed me. Why
shouldn’t she be made to write by hand like everyone else?”

“Because it’s not equal!” Enid yelled. “It’s not equal if she has to put in another 4 hours at night
just to finish the work that was meant to be done during school hours. How will she be able to
finish actual homework? Or go to her extracurricular activity, which is still mandatory by the way?
If you dare come after her to give her crap about any of that stuff I will you report you for
discrimination!”

The man was starting to look tired. He took off his glasses to rub his eyes.

“Fine”, he sighed. “Fine, she can use a laptop. Was there anything else or could you both leave
now?”

Enid looked over at Wednesday in the chair. She was still like a statue, piercing the principal under
her death stare.

“Just one more thing”, Enid said. “She’ll need to be excused from the period after lunch every day
to have a nap.”

That would give her about an hour to sleep if she went to bed immediately after she was finished
eating. Enid hoped it would be enough. It meant she’d be able to attend the last two periods of the
day.

Mr. Martens looked at her like she’d suggested Wednesday should be allowed to burn the school to
the ground.

“You think I can just allow a student to miss an entire class every single day?” he said. “No. That
won’t be possible. She can rest in her free time, after classes like everybody else.”

Enid was about fed up with him, and the way he was fighting every request she had, even though
she was only asking for things that were absolutely necessary for Wednesday’s wellbeing.
“I don’t think you understand”, she said with emphasis. “Have you actually met an overtired
toddler before? Now, imagine that toddler is Wednesday Addams… And she’s in your afternoon
class every Monday, Wednesday and Friday! If you have a hard time picturing it you can ask Mrs.
Bate how she liked it.”

Wednesday, who had been quiet this whole time, took the opportunity to hiss at her principal, to
put even more emphasis behind Enid’s words. The room went silent for a long moment before Mr.
Martens nervously cleared his throat.

“I see what you mean”, he mumbled. “I will arrange that…”

Enid smiled vindictively. She would definitely consider this meeting a success.

Chapter End Notes

Enid is so oblivious about her feelings for Wednesday!

I love writing her being so protective over her. Can you tell I have baby fever? xD

In the next chapter Wednesday finds out the hard way that her pain tolerance is not
what it used to be, and we see her getting a little more clingy...

After their meeting with the principal, there was still quite a lot left of the afternoon. With a couple
of hours until dinnertime, Wednesday wanted to take the opportunity to pay Eugene a visit as she
knew he was to spend the evening with their buzzing friends. She hadn’t yet had time to visit the
beehives since she was put under the spell.

“Do you want me to accompany you?” Enid asked her.

Logically she knew that Wednesday was very independent and could take care of herself. But she
still felt uneasy letting a small child wander off on her own on the school grounds.

“No need, I will be in Eugene’s company”, the little scorpion said, and off she toddled in her bunny
jacket and black hat.

Her spirits were elated when she walked the short distance to the beehives.

When she got there, she found Eugene in the middle of hammering nails into a new hive that he
was building. When he saw her coming, he lit up into a bright smile, mixed with curiosity. He’d
seen her from afar since her transformation, but they hadn’t actually had a moment to talk until
now.

“Hey!” he beamed. “I wasn’t sure you’d be stopping by. I’ve noticed you’ve got things going on at
the moment…”

Wednesday stared at him tiredly.

“It’s okay, you may ask.”

Eugene looked a little sheepish now.

“Well, then… what happened to you?”

And Wednesday had to go through the whole story again.

“Woah”, Eugene said when she was finished. “I had no idea that you’d be like this for so long…
I’m glad you want to continue with beekeeping, but you know I don’t have a suit in your size
though, right?”

“Do I look like I care?” Wednesday asked him. “Now, what do you need me to do?”

Eugene tasked her with cleaning out an empty hive, that he was preparing for a new colony. For
the first time in days, Wednesday felt a sense of normalcy. She almost forgot about how different
she currently looked, and she felt for a moment like this month might not be that much of a
struggle after all. She had already figured out that she needed to eat and sleep to stay in balance. As
long as she did all that, she should feel completely like normal. There was nothing left that could
surprise her now!

Wrong.

She didn’t even understand what happened at first, when a searing pain exploded in her arm. Only
when she quickly jerked her arm back, she saw the bee fall out from where it had been squished
underneath the cuff of her sleeve, the stinger was still poking out under there.

And it hurt. It hurt too much. Why did it hurt so much? She had been stung by bees on many
occasions, and she’d never had a problem with it. There were far worse things to endure.

Normally, that is. Today, the pain was excruciating, and it caused her to freeze up entirely, unable
to continue what she was doing. Tears started pooling in her eyes, and yet she was too paralyzed to
actually cry.

It took Eugene a moment to realize that she had frozen up, but when he did, he rushed to her side.

“Shit!” he said grabbing her arm and pulling back the sleeve, immediately removing the stinger
when he caught sight of it. “I told you it wasn’t a great idea to do this without proper gear.”

He looked even more concerned when he saw the agony that was written on her face, and heard
her panicked breathing.

“Wednesday?” he said. “Let’s get back to the castle, yeah? What can I do? What do you need?”

And all Wednesday could think about was how comforting it had been when Enid held her. She
wanted nothing other than to be back in her comforting embrace.

“I… want… Enid”, she finally managed to say through labored breaths.

“Okay”, he said. “Let’s find Enid!”

He took a couple of quick steps in the direction of the castle, but then noticed that Wednesday
wasn’t following him. He quickly walked back to her.

“I’m gonna carry you”, he said. “So we can get there faster.”

Yes, Enid, fast, was all Wednesday could think, and she didn’t protest when she was picked up off
the ground and Eugene started almost sprinting towards the castle.

His infatuation with the werewolf was no secret, and on his way to Ophelia Hall he started getting
anxious to return Wednesday to her in this state. Some subconscious part of him could not help but
feel like the little rain cloud belonged to her in some way. He knew that Enid cared about her
immensely, and now he worried that she’d be cross with him for letting the little one get hurt.
The closer they got to the dorm, the more rapidly tears started streaming down Wednesday’s
cheeks, but it wasn’t until the moment that Eugene opened the door to reveal Enid reading a
textbook on her bed that she let out her first sob.

Enid had thrown her book to the side and shot up from her bed before they even entered the room,
and the three of them met in the middle of the room. Wednesday threw her little arms out towards
Enid and the werewolf immediately took her in hers, feeling the little body shake with sobs.

“What happened to her?” she barked towards Eugene.

She did not mean to sound hostile. She wasn’t angry with him, not really. But she was stressed, so
her words came out more aggressively than she’d intended them to. Eugene gulped nervously and
looked at her anxiously.

“She was stung”, he said, correcting his glasses only because he didn’t know what to do with his
hands.

“Where?” Enid said. Looking down at her crying best friend, her voice softened at once. “Can I
see?”

Eugene reached out and helped remove the small jacket, in order for them too see better.
Wednesday yelled out in pain when the sleeve graced over her sting, and Enid held her a little
closer before she took her tiny arm in her hand to scrutinize it. She felt a twinge in her heart when
she saw the spot right above her wrist where the bee had stung her. The area immediately
surrounding the sting had turned red, but the whole wrist seemed a little swollen.

“Go get her some ice, please”, Enid told Eugene, who rushed off to the nurse’s office as fast as he
could.

Meanwhile, Enid carried Wednesday into the bathroom, brought out an antiseptic wipe, placed her
on top of the toilet lid and carefully cleaned the sting. The little raven wailed even louder now.
Both because she’d been put down (she’d come here for Enid to comfort her, god damnit!), but
mostly because of the excruciating pain.

“Aïïe!!” she screamed through tears, making Enid feel terrible for daring to touch her arm. “It’s not
meant to hurt so much!!”

Enid threw the wipe in the trash and quickly picked Wednesday up again, bringing her back to her
own, colorful bed, where she’d been sitting when Eugene had barged through the door with her
screaming roommate. She sat down on the edge of the bed with her friend still safely in her arms.

“Well”, she tried. “Beestings are painful.”

“Not… for… me!” Wednesday sobbed.

“But… you know”, Enid continued. “Small children don’t have as high of a pain threshold as the
rest of us. I think you need to get used to things feeling more painful for you while you’re in this
body.”

Wednesday only cried more when she heard this. The frustrating aspects of her misfired spell
seemed to be endless. She recognized somewhere that she ought to be embarrassed to show so
much emotion. But, at the same time, she knew it was completely out of her own hands. Her
toddler emotions were a force of their own, and it was almost a relief to just let go of all control
and let herself get tugged in every direction like a whirling and violent current.
Thankfully, Eugene came rushing back in through the door in that moment, and soon Wednesday
felt a cold and soothing sensation on her wrist. Her beekeeper friend was stunned for a moment.
This was a side of Wednesday that he’d never seen before, and it was very different to the
Wednesday that he knew. He only snapped out of his shock when Enid tenderly cupped
Wednesday’s head, and he suddenly felt out of place. They were sharing a vulnerable moment, and
he knew it wasn’t his place to just stand there and watch.

“Uhm… I should get back to the bees”, he said. “The sting should feel better soon.”

“Thanks, Eugene”, Enid said without looking up, and Eugene slowly backed out of the room.

Wednesday thoroughly enjoyed resting in Enid’s arms like this. In fact, she was so content, after a
few minutes she started contemplating whether it would be worth it to try and get another bee sting
in the future in order to end up here. When Enid shifted beneath her and told her that she still had to
study, Wednesday decided she was not going to let the werewolf put her down just yet.

She definitely wouldn’t say that crying was her strong suit. But then again, she did have a talent for
picking up new skills quickly. If crying was what she needed to do in order for Enid to keep
holding her, then who’s to say she couldn’t produce a few tears if she practiced?

But it turned out, she only needed to let out a small whimper, and Enid quickly reassured her.

“It’s okay”, she said. “You can stay right here, see?”

She kept Wednesday on her lap while she moved to lean back against the pillows by her
headboard. She lay back with Wednesday resting on top of her, lying on her tummy, her head right
by Enid’s heart. Enid grabbed her textbook in one hand to continue reading, while her other hand
rubbed circles on Wednesday’s back.

Wednesday was filled with peace. Now that she didn’t hurt all that bad anymore, she was more in
tune with her surroundings again. She could sense Enid’s heartbeat beneath her, and had trouble
picturing anything more comforting.

My best friend, she thought, and almost felt a little dizzy.

To think she had wanted nothing to do with Enid when they first got to know each other… She
clutched the fabric of the werewolf’s shirt with her uninjured hand, and knew in her heart of hearts
that Enid was the most important thing she had.

Not a word was said between them during the 45 minutes that followed, while Enid studied her
textbook and Wednesday silently clung to her, soaking up every ounce of the love that was
reflected in their touch.

When dinnertime came, Wednesday finally agreed to stand on her own two feet again. While
Enid’s embrace was too enjoyable to resist when they were alone, she still cared enough about her
reputation not to want to be seen cuddling in front of the rest of the school.

Enid realized as they finished eating that Wednesday was a whole new kid now that she had gotten
to nap in the afternoon. For the first time since she was shrunken, she didn’t proceed to fall asleep
immediately. There was a new spring in her step when she walked back to the dorm by Enid’s side.
Instead of going to bed she happily went on to read about a few murder mysteries in some obscure
magazine she’d kept in her bedside table.

Enid got on her laptop instead to waste some time on Youtube. 10 minutes passed, and Enid was so
engrossed in the video she was watching that she jumped when she heard a loud thud behind her.

She quickly turned around just in time to see Wednesday slithering in under her bed.

“What happened?” she asked, getting on her feet. “Did you fall off the bed?”

Wednesday’s little face appeared in the space underneath the bed, and she put a finger to her
mouth, aggressively shushing her roommate. That’s when Enid became aware of the voices
coming from Wednesday’s desk.

“Where’s our little rain cloud?” came Morticia’s voice.

“We know you’re there”, Gomez continued.

Their faces looked around the room from the crystal ball next to Wednesday’s typewriter.

From where Enid was standing, she could see Wednesday under the bed, looking grumpier than
Enid had ever seen her. She couldn’t hold back an amused smile.

“Hi, Enid”, Morticia greeted her, having spotted the werewolf standing halfway over to
Wednesday’s side. “How are you doing?”

Enid walked closer to the crystal ball.

“I’m great”, she said. “And how are you?”

She felt a little bit awkward speaking to Wednesday’s parents. She knew that the raven wasn’t
particularly fond of them (or… so she said… In reality, Enid was certain that she loved them
deeply), but Enid herself had always found them to be rather charming, especially in comparison to
her own mother.

“We are terrific!” Gomez answered. “The only thing that would make our day better is if we got to
see our darling little scorpion.”

“Wednesday”, Wednesday’s mother said. “We already know what’s happened to you, with the
spell… Your principal called us yesterday. You don’t have to be embarrassed! We’ve seen you like
this before, after all, and I remember you being the most endearing baby. Please, let us see that
sweet face of yours!”

Enid could tell that her words were absolutely embarrassing her daughter, but she also understood
their urgence to see her in this state. It must be quite sentimental for them to have their baby back to
the way she looked 14 years ago.

“Well…”, Gomez said when his daughter did not appear. “I guess we will just have to get in the
car and drive over there…”

The idea of having to see her parents in person seemingly scared Wednesday enough to make her
forget about her embarrassment, because a second later, she was standing next to Enid by her desk.
Only the top of her head was visible over the edge of the desk, but it was enough for her parents to
shriek in joy.

“Oh, our sweet little angel of death!” Morticia exclaimed. “Will you please let us have a closer
look?”

Wednesday sulked, frozen in place, so Enid pulled her chair closer to her, motioning for her to
climb onto it. Finally, the small girl snapped out of it and reluctantly climbed onto the chair,
allowing her parents to see her better. They were both left speechless for a moment, before Morticia
finally addressed her husband.

“Mi cariño”, she said tenderly. “Isn’t she just the most magnificent thing you’ve ever seen.”

“Positively, my love”, Gomez answered, and turned towards his wife with his ever-adoring
expression. “It makes me long to make another one…”

At the thought of her parents making babies, Wednesday pretended to gag, loudly, causing them to
meet her dark expression.

“Would you let us come and see you, darling?” Morticia pleaded. “It would break out hearts to
miss out on seeing our sweet little scorpion like this.”

“No”, Wednesday grumbled. “I won’t be used to fulfill your longing for a baby.”

“But you are our baby”, Morticia continued. “You can’t fault us for missing you.”

“If you want to smother me, please use a pillow instead of affection”, Wednesday answered, and
slid down from her seat to show them that she was done with the conversation. “You’ve seen me.
Now: goodnight, mother and father.”

Chapter End Notes

Hope this counts as a minor injury! Wednesday certainly thinks so. Well, normally,
that is...

Don't worry, Gomez and Morticia WILL absolutely get to meet their little rain cloud!
But first, in the next chapter: Turns out Wednesday also has trouble concealing when
she's happiiii + a little bit of jealous toddler Wednesday

this chapter listed:

'Wispr' – Wednday sucking her thumb while sleeping

'Aussie gworl' - Wednesday has trouble braiding her hair and Enid helps her
'Theallseer97' – Enid protecting Wednesday from bullies
'Drake' – Wednesday falls victim to the toddler desire to be spun around (cute!!)
'Person_350' – Wednesday laughing or crying in class and no one knows what to do

Can't believe this all fit into one chapter, but it did! I took the liberty of changing the
circumstances slightly in some of these, but I hope it's something like you guys
imagined anyway!

See the end of the chapter for more notes

For Enid, watching little Wednesday sleep was starting to become the best part of the day. In her
new, unrestrained state, the girl was the polar opposite of her normal self, who usually stayed
frozen in the same position the entire night, sleeping like a dead person. Sleeping toddler
Wednesday was a whirlwind, that seemed to move all night, and Enid had seen her in some rather
interesting sleeping positions. Yesterday, the little tornado had spun around almost 180 degrees
during the night, and Enid found her completely sprawled out like a starfish, with her feet where
her head should be.

The morning following the Addamses call on the crystal ball, Enid woke up to Wednesday
sleeping like a little ball. Her knees were pulled up underneath her, so that her bum stuck straight
up in the air. Her head was turned away from Enid, but when the werewolf walked closer, she
discovered a new piece of information: toddler Wednesday sucked her thumb in her sleep.

Her level of cuteness was getting too far.

After having slept three nights with her hair up in the same little bunches, the small girl’s black
hair was starting to become a mess. Enid guessed that the reason Wednesday hadn’t touched her
hair since she was turned was that the girl realized that her limited motor skills prevented her from
putting it back into anything resembling pigtails.

Figuring she’d need to do her hair before classes started, Enid reluctantly had to wake her sleeping
roommate. But little Wednesday was not as easy to wake as her teenage self. Enid first tried to
wake her with a soft “good morning”, but she remained completely still. She then pulled the covers
off of her and shook her a little, but Wednesday only grimaced and kept her eyes closed. When
Enid pulled the thumb out of her mouth, the girl moved, but only to turn her face away from her in
order to be allowed to keep sleeping. Enid finally felt she had to pull Wednesday up into a sitting
position.

“Come on!” she told her. “You can’t sleep all day. Wakey wakey, Wednesday.”

Yawning widely while Enid held her upright in front of her, Wednesday finally rubbed her eyes
before she squinted up at her friend. She looked unamused to have been forced out of her slumber.
Enid couldn’t help but chuckle a little at her.

“Your hair is starting to get more tousled than the fur on a wolf pup that has played in the mud”,
she laughed.

“A very cute one, I mean!” she quickly added when Wednesday’s gaze darkened. “Will you let me
fix it for you?”

By now, Wednesday was so comfortable with Enid, she realized there really was no contest at all
between her two options. Option 1: go out and show the entire school that she was unable to take
care of her own personal hygiene? Horrible option. Option 2: let Enid help her? Not all that bad.

She nodded once, and Enid lit up in a bright smile.

“Do you want to shower first?”

Wednesday nodded again, and Enid quickly went into the bathroom to lower the shower head to
where Wednesday could reach it. She then let the girl sort herself out, while leaving a small
opening in the door (with Wednesday’s permission), in case she needed any help.

When the toddler emerged, she was clean and dressed in black leggings with a flower pattern and
the fluffiest little hoodie Enid had ever seen. It was grey and incredibly soft, and when Wednesday
turned her back towards her to drink her morning potion, Enid realized the hood had little ears on
it. Ironically enough, she looked even more like a wolf pup now than before she showered.

They both sat down on Wednesday’s bed, Enid positioning the smaller girl right in front of her,
where she used her best hairbrush to detangle her hair. Her tiny curls were even more visible now
that her hair was newly washed, and Enid wondered at what age it had turned straight.

She was just finishing putting it up in the two little bunches that had become a substitute for
Wednesday’s regular braids, when something happened that took her breath away. Thing, who had
been perched on the metal frame at the foot of Wednesday’s bed, started moving to get back down
to the floor. But as he “stood up”, he somehow stumbled over his own fingers and clumsily fell to
the floor. It wasn’t this that shocked Enid to the core, no. The shocking part was the sound that
erupted in the room as a result: a gleeful, captivating and utterly heartwarming child’s laugh.

Enid’s hands dropped to her sides, and she stared at the girl in front of her with wide eyes. She only
saw Wednesday’s profile from where she was sitting, but the smile on the little girl’s face was so
bright she was unrecognizable.

Though Enid felt like time stopped, the laugh probably only lasted a few seconds in reality. Once
she’d settled down after witnessing the unexpected and hilarious tumble, Wednesday soon realized
that her roommate had stopped moving. When she turned towards her and looked at her with
questioning (though unusually soft) eyes, Enid was finally able to return to reality.

“What?” Wednesday asked her.

“Nothing!” Enid quickly said. “Your hair is done.”

She realized immediately that from now on, her main goal in life would be to get to hear that laugh
again. And if she wanted to hear it again, she must not under any circumstances make a big deal of
it in front of Wednesday.

“Let’s have breakfast”, she added, shifting the focus to another subject.

So they headed downstairs, and the morning proceeded like normal. This time, Enid had lent her
laptop to Wednesday to use during classes, and since typing didn’t require nearly as much hand
muscle control as writing with a pencil, she got a lot more done. Enid was still giddy from that
morning, and she observed Wednesday, noticing the smaller girl seemed to be in a very good
mood.

But as they exited the last class before lunch, her mood was unfortunately ruined by one of her
classmates. A boy who had a habit of being rude, and who she had a particular disliking for,
pushed past her on the way out the door, almost making her fall over. Being used to people parting
like the red sea when she passed, the fact that she was now so small people didn’t even see her
when she was walking in a crowd made her skin crawl in a bad way.

As soon as she got out into the hallway, she spoke to the boy who was only a few steps ahead of
her.

“I heard people who can’t watch where they’re going don’t need feet”, she said.

The boy turned around and snorted as soon as his gaze fell upon her.

“It that meant to be a threat?” he asked.

Wednesday could feel his hatred for her, and knew it had been building for a while. She, a girl, had
beat him countless times in fencing, and this was the type of guy who could not let that sort of
thing go. She’d always felt that he was only waiting for any opportunity to get back at her and put
her in her place. This was undoubtedly why he did not hold back on the harshness when he spoke.

“I know you think you’re all scary and stuff”, he said, with a taunting smile on his face. “But do
you honestly think anyone can take you seriously right now? You sound like a god damn
chipmunk when you talk. And how will you come after me? Aren’t you meant to go nap like a
baby?”

Wednesday felt very frustrated. Not because she cared about his words per se. But the fact that the
general student body was comfortable enough around her that anyone would dare speak to her in
this way troubled her.

The boy looked triumphant at her speechlessness. He was so focused on Wednesday, it caught him
completely off guard when a very strong force knocked into him as Enid slammed him against the
lockers. He tried to move, but he was no match for her werewolf strength, and she easily kept him
pinned to the lockers.

“I would not take any of her threats lightly”, she hissed in his face. “Watch your back. Or… feet, I
guess. Or would you prefer she take your testicles like she did to that guy at her last school?”

She dropped him so forcefully he fell into a heap on the floor, before she took Wednesday’s hand
and pulled her away from there. She was shaking with fury, but feeling the tiny hand in hers slowly
helped pull her out of her foul mood. She frowned, however, when she looked down and saw that
Wednesday seemed to be back to her old sulky self, rather than the slightly more positive version
of herself she had been since that morning.
The class moved to the cafeteria to get their food. Their friends then took their lunch out into the
courtyard, since it was a sunny day. Despite the cold temperature outside, the sunrays trapped
between the five walls of the pentagon shaped court heated it up to a quite pleasant temperature.
But before they followed their friends there, Enid pulled Wednesday into an empty corner in the
hallway, desperate to lighten her mood again.

“You know he doesn’t matter, right?” she said.

“My reputation is crumbling”, Wednesday muttered.

“And you’ll set it straight the moment you are turned back”, Enid reassured.

“I could take him out now if you hadn’t taken away all my knives…”

Wednesday glared at Enid now, and the werewolf gulped. She had hoped that maybe Wednesday
wouldn’t have noticed yet, but of course she had.

“I couldn’t let you take yourself out”, she said, begging for Wednesday’s forgiveness. “I’ll help
you take out anyone who’s been mean to you after this month is up, okay?”

Wednesday only gave her a disapproving look before walking out into the courtyard.

The two of them sat down with Xavier, Bianca, Yoko, Divina, Kent and Ajax. Wednesday nodded
subtly towards Eugene, who was sat at a table further away with another freshman. She still felt
embarrassed over the breakdown he had witnessed the day before, but she also felt confident he
wouldn’t spread the word further, which was a consolation.

Since Wednesday was sulking, Enid chatted with Divina about the film club they were both in, but
when the small girl went to throw away her trash, Divina noticed Enid’s eyes following her.

“What’s that look you’re doing?” she asked.

Enid snapped out of her own head and looked back at Divina.

“She’s mad at me for taking away her weapons”, she sighed.

“Isn’t she like… always mad?” Xavier joined in on the conversation. “I’ve never seen her smile.”

“I’m with Xavier on this one”, Bianca added. “You can’t convince me that girl has any other
moods besides bitter and sullen.”

“You would not say that if you had seen the sides of her that I have!” Enid’s expression changed
from annoyance to an adoring smile when she thought back to the cuteness overload she had
witnessed earlier. “This morning I heard her laugh. Can you believe it? I wish you all could have
heard it. It was seriously the cutest thing I’ve ever heard.”

“No way”, Xavier said. “Now you’re just messing with us.”

“I’m serious!” Enid defended herself. “She laughed!”

“Okay”, Yoko said with a cunning smile. “Let’s try to prove it. I have a failsafe method when it
comes to toddlers if you wanna make them laugh. If it doesn’t work you’re a big fat liar. Watch
this…”

Just as Wednesday returned to the table, Yoko got to her feet.

“Hey, Wednesday”, she said. “I dare you to try something.”

“Why would I have an interest in participating in some juvenile dare?” the toddler spoke.

“Because I really have the feeling you’re gonna like this one”, Yoko chuckled.

She took both of Wednesday’s hands in hers, and before the little raven had time to process what
was happening, she was flying. With her hands still in Yoko’s, her feet lifted off the ground as the
vampire started spinning her around. For a moment, the world became a blur, as the spinning
provided such a powerful and entrancing sensory input, everything else faded in comparison.

Wednesday imagined this is what if felt like to fall to your death from a high distance… and she
loved it. She closed her eyes, causing the sensation to intensify, but just as her whole body was
buzzing magnificently, the spinning stopped, and her feet came back down to the ground.

Her eyes snapped up towards the vampire, who scrutinized the little one’s expression.
Wednesday’s gaze was intense, as always. But it definitely didn’t hold the same aggression that it
usually did. Her brown eyes were a little wider, filled with a sort of gentle curiosity. And most
importantly: she kept a very insistent grip on Yoko’s hands.

“Do you want to go again?” the vampire carefully asked her.

Wednesday didn’t answer, opting to stay frozen like a statue. But there was something urgent in
her silence, and Yoko smiled at her before she adjusted her grip and started spinning again.

This time, Wednesday closed her eyes immediately, and the buzzing, tickling sensation built back
up inside her to the point where she couldn’t hold back her delight. Soon, her gleeful laugh bounced
off the walls on the courtyard, and every conversation died down as everyone’s eyes turned
towards them in shock, which Wednesday was unaware of as she kept her eyes closed.

Enid’s heart fluttered again, and as her eyes swept over the students scattered around the courtyard,
she noticed something different in their eyes as they watched the scene before them. Last semester,
most student either feared or disliked Wednesday. A few respected or looked up to her, although
none of them seemed to have the soft spot for her that Enid had. But now, she could see it: a
warmth and a softness that hadn’t been there before. It seemed people were starting to realize that
there was more to her than the hard exterior they were so used to seeing.

Back in a better mood, Wednesday went to have her afternoon nap. Since there wasn’t a whole lot
of time between the first and second class after lunch, Enid had to hurry to get her in between
classes. And though she wasn’t too hard to wake, Enid realized they were about to be late.

“Hop up, quick!” she told the newly woken toddler, and held out her arms, asking her to let her
carry her.

Wednesday let herself get picked up off the ground, and Enid sprinted all the way to the classroom
where their next class would be held. She entered the classroom out of breath, with Wednesday on
her hip and their bags thrown over one shoulder, like a stressed housewife late for baby Pilates.

Despite their last minute arrival, they had a pleasant lesson. Well, at least Enid did, or so
Wednesday thought from her corner, where she had been paired up with their laziest classmate to
work on a debate. Enid, on the other hand, had been paired with Ajax, and while Wednesday
wasn’t convinced they were working very efficiently, they were having fun.

The classroom was filled with noise, as everyone was talking to get the assignment done. And
while Wednesday couldn’t hear what the pair of them were saying, the unmistakable sound of
Enid’s laugh seemed to reach her ears every 5 seconds.

She loved that sound, she really did. But not when it was directed at stupid Ajax and his stupid
snake head. Enid was so engaged in the conversation the two of them were having, she seemed to
have eyes only for him. Wednesday hadn’t caught her looking in her direction even once, and
while she didn’t know why, it bothered her to no end. She could not for the life of her understand
what Ajax was saying that was so interesting it was making Enid laugh this much.

Would Enid laugh this much if she’d been paired with me? Wednesday asked herself, and the
question put her in a bad mood, making her spend most of the class sulking rather than working
effectively.

When class was over, they headed towards the final class of the day, which was located in the
Alchemy lab way over on the other side of the building. Wednesday immediately found Enid and
stuck to her side, but to her disappointment, she did not get the werewolf to herself, like she had
gotten used to lately. It seemed Enid and Ajax still had so much to talk about after having worked
together, the two of them stayed at each other’s sides while they all moved towards the Alchemy
lab.

Wednesday got grumpier by the second, stomping beside them trying to think of any way she
could make Ajax mysteriously disappear.

But then she realized in a stroke of genius that she didn’t actually have to get rid of Ajax. Enid had
proven many times that she had a hard time saying no to the small child that Wednesday had
turned into, and there was no reason why Wednesday couldn’t use that to her advantage.

So, interrupting their conversation, she pulled a little on Enid’s shirt, forcing her to bring her focus
to her instead of stupid snake boy.

“Enid…”, she said, looking up at her with doe eyes. “My legs are tired…”

And, just like she had planned, Enid immediately shifted all of her attention to her roommate.

“Oh! Let me help you”, she said.

A second later Wednesday was back in Enid’s arms, resting in her embrace while they continued
towards their class. And suddenly, it didn’t matter if Ajax was talking to Enid. He was not the one
that got to be this close to her.

She wouldn’t hold YOU like this, dickhead, she thought.

And then she figured she might as well play this further. Everyone knew by now that her brain
worked a little differently than normal. Enid was constantly reassuring her that it wasn’t her fault
that her emotions were bigger, her patience was shorter, her circadian rhythm more sensitive…
Even her worst tantrums had been met with understanding, and she reckoned no one would find it
odd if the things that came out of her mouth weren’t as calculated as usual.

Feigning a look of innocence from where she was perched on Enid’s arms, she looked Ajax
straight in the eyes and said:

“Why does he smell so bad, Enid?”

She had to hold back a laugh when she saw the horrified look that appeared on Enid’s face.
“I’m so sorry Ajax”, the werewolf stuttered. “She doesn’t know what she’s saying right now…”

But as they entered the classroom, Enid walking ahead of Ajax, Wednesday clung to her roommate
even closer and sent a roguish smile over the werewolf’s shoulder, leaving the gorgon behind them
looking more than puzzled.

Chapter End Notes

Sneaky Wednesday playing the toddler card... But she's cute enough to get away with
it! I would literally get myself 10 of her if I could ❤

I know we have no idea what kind of subjects they have apart from fencing and
botany, but I would guess they don't exactly have the regular subjects. So I figured
Alchemy would be a pretty cool and wacky subject for them to study, and I honestly
think that would be cool to see on screen!

Now over to what's up ahead. If you’ve read my other fic, “Little Rain Cloud”, you
know I love sickfics… I could not miss the opportunity to write one with this adorable
little version of Wednesday… So next chapter, Wednesday develops a mystery illness
and Enid has to care for a pretty miserable little roommate.

Gomez and Morticia also make an appearance!

Chapter 8
Chapter Notes

Hey guys, I'm so sorry it's taken so long for me to update! I was busy celebrating
Easter and what not, plus springtime is here and us northerners are out of hibernation
which means I have more plans, so I won't be updating as frequently as I have been
from the start. But at least this chapter is a little longer than the rest have been!

That being said, the chapter is here and it contains the following prompts:

'Redmontfief' - the one that originally requested a sickfic chapter

'Pesterfield' and 'Tief' wished for Wednesday to want plushies, and that sort of happens
here in a way but I have more planned in the future as well
'NotoRayaari' and 'Connor Klein' - time with Gomez and Morticia
'Drunk ideas' + 'Ahundredworlds' + 'Pesterfield' - Enid needs advice from Morticia +
Morticia teaches Enid a trick to make Wednesday sleep + Gomez and Morticia arrive
with Wednesday's baby stuff and give parenting advice (more of this in the next
chapter)

See the end of the chapter for more notes

Wednesday felt it was a little too soon to go back to the beehives, so in the afternoon she opted to
stay in her room and work on her novel. She hadn’t gotten much writing done in the past few
chaotic days, but now inspiration was flowing and she was back at it again.

But just as she was wrapping up to go to dinner, where she would meet Enid who was at the
photography club at the moment, the buzzing of her phone interrupted her. When she opened the
message, her eyes widened.

In the turmoil of being turned into a child, and everything that came with it, she’d almost forgotten
about the stalker that had been sending messages to her. Now, she was reminded that the stalker
definitely hadn’t forgotten about her. The message contained no text, only a picture. A picture of
her, walking alone to the beehives.

She wasn’t normally afraid. She hadn’t been even a little afraid of the stalker since they made
themselves known. Her many years of martial arts training made her feel confident she could
defend herself. But as she watched the picture before her, a tiny ounce of dread entered her system.
She could not deny that she was more vulnerable now. It wouldn’t take much muscle strength to
just pick her up and take her away.

Realizing she could no longer procrastinate, she had to get to the bottom of this stalker mystery,
she hurried off to dinner.

That evening they served a few different options, and Wednesday opted to have a bowl of tomato
soup, as she figured it was fast. She was sitting with only Enid, as none of the peers in their regular
company had made it there yet.

Too concentrated on her food to focus on anything else, Wednesday was startled when she heard
the sound of a picture being taken, and looked up to see Enid chuckling at her, the camera on her
phone pointed in her direction.

“I’m sorry, I had to”, the werewolf smiled. “I won’t show anyone else, I promise. It’s just… you
have a little…”

She handed her a napkin and indicated for her to wipe her face. As Wednesday did so, she
discovered apparently she’d managed to get half her face covered in tomato soup. She wiped at it,
but mostly seemed to smear it out. Enid watched her carefully before she finally brought out
another napkin and wiped the rest of her face for her.

When they had finished eating, Wednesday was in a hurry to put her investigation skills to use. She
wasn’t going to show Enid the picture, she knew it would only worry her. No, it was best if she
solved this riddle herself before it got out of hand.

Since she was using Enid’s laptop to study now, it was already waiting for her on her desk, and she
quickly climbed her chair to open it up. Though she normally hated technology, she had to admit it
was rather thrilling to solve a mystery like this. It was a whole world of information, and
somewhere in it there were clues to help her figure out who was threatening her.

She started looking up information about every resident in Jericho. The reason she was reluctant to
use technology herself was that she feared it made it easier for people to track her, and her
suspicions were confirmed as it soon became clear to her that you could find out a great deal of
information about people online if you looked hard enough.

Thrilling as it was, she could have spent all night digging deeper into the mystery, but after a
while, it started getting harder and harder to focus. She became aware of some rather unpleasant
signals her body was sending her.

Her skin started feeling hot, and her whole body felt uneasy. She was still wearing the fluffy, grey
wolf sweater with ears that she’d put on that morning, but as she started sweating in it, she took it
off and revealed a T-shirt with a white kitten on the front that she was wearing underneath.

She tried to keep working, but her focus was not getting better. Her stomach was starting to ache
now and that burning sensation was becoming unbearable.

Enid, used to Wednesday’s posture being that of a statue, found it odd when the girl started shifting
in her chair. She got up to go check on her.

“How’s it going, Wednesday?” she asked on her way over.

But as soon as she got closer, she noticed something on Wednesday’s neck, peaking out from under
her t-shirt. It was a cluster of red spots, a rash of some kind.

“What’s this?” she asked, carefully gracing over the rash with her hand.

“Most likely nothing”, Wednesday quickly answered.

But Enid’s gaze wandered, and she noticed a similar rash on Wednesday’s arm. She took the little
arm in her hand and lifted it to check it from different angles.

“I wouldn’t say nothing”, she said. “Look, it’s here too. I noticed you squirming in your seat, are
you not feeling well?”

She reached out her hand to feel Wednesday’s forehead for a fever, but her own, slightly warmer,
Lycan temperature made it impossible to tell if her roommate had a fever or not. The smaller girl
flinched at her touch.

“I’m not sick!” she argued. “I’m immune to every illness.”

Enid had to chuckle a little.

“Now, maybe, though I highly doubt it… But kids do get sick more often. Maybe you should lie
down and rest a little?”

She spun the chair around towards the bed, motioning for Wednesday to get off. The toddler
sulked for a moment before she reluctantly moved to her bed instead, where she curled up into a
ball. Not wanting to give away how much her stomach was hurting, she closed her eyes and tried to
lie completely still and breathe through the pain.

Enid went back to her own side of the room, but she kept Wednesday under a very close watch.
She brought out her phone and started googling what illnesses could cause red spots like
Wednesday’s, and she quickly realized there were a lot of possible explanations, some that scared
her more than others.

Looking back towards Wednesday, she saw an expression of great discomfort on the girl’s face as
she scratched the itching skin on her arms.

“Okay, I think that’s enough”, Enid said across the room. “We need to get someone to help you.
Let’s go see the nurse again.”

“No, I don’t want to!” Wednesday said like a grumpy toddler.

“Why would you prefer to suffer when there may be help to get?” Enid asked frustratedly.

“I’m not sick, so I don’t need help”, Wednesday grumbled while Enid stood back up to approach
her.

As soon as the werewolf got closer, she saw that there were now also red spots on Wednesday’s
cheeks.

“Wednesday!” Enid exclaimed. “It’s getting worse! I can’t just sit around and wait. What if you
have measles! Or scarlet fever? Or something really contagious or dangerous? I’m getting the
nurse!”

“No!” Wednesday yelled, before she collected herself. “I mean it when I say I’m immune. As far as
I know I’ve never had a virus. My family is different, medically, to most others.”

“Okay”, Enid said, her eyebrows furrowed. “Then I’m calling your family. They knew you when
you were this age. They’ll know if you had any health problems and how to solve them.”

She sat down by Wednesday’s desk, ignoring the girl’s protests, and started trying to make sense
of the crystal ball.

“How do I get this to work?” she asked.

Wednesday gave her a death stare from her bed, before she finally shuffled to get out of bed. Her
movements were strained, and it was clear that she was suffering. She dragged her feet over to the
desk, where she stood on her tippytoes and reached to turn the crystal ball on.

Soon, Gomez’s surprised face appeared inside the crystal.

“Oh, hello my little viper!” he said. “I’m overjoyed to see you! Hold on and let me get your
mother, she’ll be devastated if she misses your call.”

He disappeared from the frame only to reappear half a minute later with Wednesday’s mother in
tow.

“Oh, hello girls!” Morticia greeted them with a smile. “How are you both!”

Enid took it upon herself to answer.

“I’m doing well. Wednesday, not so much.”

Both parents frowned at that.

“What’s happened, love?” Morticia asked her daughter, who was standing on the floor next to
Enid, from where only the top of her head was visible once again.

“Is Wednesday vaccinated against measles and rubella?” Enid asked.

“No need!” Gomez chuckled. “Addamses don’t catch viruses like that.”

“Then, did she get sick in any other way while she was a kid?” Enid asked. “Because it sure seems
like she’s caught something, and we’d like to figure out what. She’s covered in a rash that seems
kind of painful. Do you have any idea what it might be?”

“Can we see, honey?” Morticia asked softly.

Enid lifted Wednesday up Simba style and held her a little closer to the crystal ball so that her
parents could take a look at her. Gomez leaned forward and scrutinized her closely. A look of
recognition passed over his face.

“Wednesday”, he said firmly. “Did you happen to eat tomatoes by any chance?”

Wednesday’s dark eyes blinked.

“… perhaps…” she grumbled after a few seconds of silence.

“Oh, sweetheart”, Morticia sighed.

“Wednesday was very allergic to tomatoes when she was younger”, Gomez explained to Enid.
“She couldn’t handle all the vitamins. She grew out of it somewhere around the time the turned 4.”

Enid’s eyes widened, and she placed Wednesday on her lap.

“How bad is it?” she asked. “Will she need medical attention?”

“No, no”, Morticia assured her. “She might be in for a pretty rough night, but she should start
feeling better by morning.”

She eyed her miserable little one again.

“Did you forget you used to be allergic?” she asked softly.

At this moment, Wednesday’s bottom lip started to tremble.

“Yes”, she choked out.

Her parents shared a look.

“We’ll just grab a few things and then we’ll come right over”, Gomez said.

“No!” Wednesday whimpered, although she realized she didn’t exactly have the strength to fight in
this moment.

“Yes, darling”, Gomez insisted. “We’ve done this before, remember? We know what works. Go
rest while you wait for us, and if you have something you can heat up and place against your
stomach, that should help a little bit.”

“We’ve gotta hurry now”, Morticia continued. “We’ll be there as fast as we can. We love you so
much, our little moonlight.”

The crystal ball went blank, and the room fell into silence. Enid was very displeased to see how
much her best friend was suffering, but she was also relieved that it was only going to be
temporary. In a few hours she’d feel much better. In the meantime, she was determined to do
anything she could to relieve her of her pain.

“Let me see if I can find you a heating pad”, she said, and stood up, letting Wednesday slide down
carefully to stand on the floor.

With Wednesday still standing on the floor, watching her, she turned around to look around her
own side of the dorm. But as she was about to enter her closet, she heard the unmistakable sound of
retching behind her. When she quickly spun around, she was met by a sight taken from a horror
movie. The white kitten on Wednesday’s black t-shirt was stained red like blood, and more red was
dripping from the corner of her mouth, from where her dinner had just come back out.

”Oh my god, Wednesday!” Enid exclaimed in horror. ”Why would you eat an entire bowl of
tomato soup when you’re allergic to tomatoes?!”

She yelled because she was distraught. She wasn’t used to seeing her best friend so miserable, and
it made her heart ache for her. Unfortunately, her anxiety caused her words to come out sounding
accusatory, and she immediately regretted it when she saw the tears in Wednesday’s eyes. Enid’s
heart twinged painfully.

“I had no recollection of this humiliating affliction”, the small girl mumbled. “I must have
suppressed every memory of these horrible moments of weakness.”

Enid inhaled deeply to calm herself.

“I know, it’s okay”, she reassured. “It’s not your fault. We’ll just get you cleaned up.”

Then, she realized Wednesday was standing in a pool of her own vomit, and she quickly called out
to her before she had the time to move.

“Wait!” she said. “Don’t move, you’ll leave footprints.”

She walked up to her and grabbed hold underneath her arms. Then, she walked towards the
bathroom, carrying her messy roommate at arm’s length to avoid getting puke on herself.

She placed the toddler on the bathroom floor and carefully removed her shirt, only to reveal her
whole stomach was covered in angry red spots.

Hurrying over to get the hot water running, she then returned her attention to her small best friend
while the bathtub filled up. She got her to step out of her leggings, also soaked in tomato soup, and
when she was rid of all clothes, she lifted her into the tub. She grabbed the shower glove to help
Wednesday clean herself up, but when she did, the little raven protested.

”I can do it”, she whined.

Enid eyed her carefully.

”Are you sure?” she asked.

Wednesday only snatched the glove out of her hand and waited for her to leave the room.

”Okay”, Enid said with a hint of worry. ”But please call for me if you need me.”

She turned the water off before exiting the bathroom, leaving the door open, and brought out a
couple of rags to start cleaning up the mess that Wednesday had left behind. She worked
effectively, and returned to the bathroom doorway as soon as she was done.

”How's it going?” she asked carefully.

In the tub, it seemed Wednesday had barely moved since she left her. She had pulled her knees up
to her chest and was hugging her stomach tightly like a tiny little ball. There were still streaks of
vomit in her hair, and it didn't seem like she had tried to clean herself.

Enid wordlessly crouched down beside her and took the shower glove out of her hand.

“It’s okay, I got it”, she reassured. “You keep doing what you’re doing, if it’s helping your stomach
feel a little better.”

She helped wash any trace of tomato soup off of Wednesday's skin. She then removed the hair ties
in her hair and gently made the tiny terror lean her head back a little so that she could wash her hair
using the shower head. She massaged shampoo into her curls, making sure the little one's eyes
were closed before she brought the shower head back over her head and rinsed everything out.

A minute later, Wednesday was once again standing on the cold tiles, shivering a little wrapped up
in a towel. Enid went to get her a fresh set of pajamas, realizing what was left in her closet was
another dark blue onesie, with a picture of a smiling star on the front instead of a moon. When she
returned to the bathroom, Wednesday was crying.

15 minutes had passed since they ended the call on the crystal ball, and thankfully Wednesday's
family didn't live very far away. Enid desperately hoped they would arrive soon.

”Your mom and dad will be here real soon”, she reassured her friend, subconsciously starting to
speak in a voice she usually reserved for small children. ”I'm sure they'll help your tummy feel all
better!”

Since she hoped Wednesday would be able to go to sleep early and sleep off her painful symptoms,
Enid first made her step into a pull-up before she helped her into the onesie. Her small friend was
quiet, but large tears rolled down her cheeks, staining her pajamas and breaking Enid's heart in the
process.

The werewolf picked her friend up from the floor. She still could not wrap her head around how
small she was. She was so light, it was almost like carrying one of her stuffed animals.

When her mind wandered to her stuffed animals, that’s when she remembered where she could find
something to heat up for Wednesday.

“Wait here, I have something for you!” she told the raven when she placed her down on the black
sheets of her bed and put a blanket over her.

She did not miss the way that Wednesday’s bottom lip trembled when she moved to leave, and she
made sure to sprint over to her own side of the room to dig through the large pile of stuffed animals
that she kept by the window.

“Aha!” she finally said triumphantly, holding up the small panda plushie she’d been looking for.

Wednesday somehow managed to look annoyed through her tears.

“I know you feel some strange attachment to these inanimate objects”, she said. “But I really don’t
see how one of your toys is going to help me feel better.”

“But it’s not just a plushie”, Enid explained. “It’s a heating pad, look!”

She shook it a little, and the microwavable beads rattled inside it.

“I’ll just head over to the common room and heat this up”, she said. “Stay where you are!”

She sprinted off, and no more than 3 minutes later she was back with the warm panda in her hands.
Lifting Wednesday’s blanket up, she placed it in front of her roommate’s aching stomach.
Wednesday glared at her from the corner of her eye for a long moment, but then, her little arms
slowly snaked around the plushie and she hugged it tightly to her stomach. This caused Enid to
smile at her.

“See? Not so bad, is it?” she said. “Do you need me to get anything else for you?”

“No!” Wednesday quickly answered, her voice still thick with tears. She had had enough of Enid
leaving the room.

Wednesday was tired.

Really, really tired. All she wanted was to go to sleep, but her stupid stomachache wouldn't let her.
The more minutes that ticked by, the more agonizing it became. At the same time, she was
embarrassed. She was tired of being so weak in front of Enid. What respect could her roommate
have left for her once this was all over?

Unfortunately, she wasn't great at hiding her emotions at the moment, and after only a few short
minutes, a small whimper reached Enid's ears.

The werewolf was back at her side within seconds.

"What do you need?" she asked.

Wednesday gave up an exasperated sob.

“I don’t know!” she cried.

Not knowing what else to do, Enid picked her friend back up and started pacing. The toddler
sobbed into her shoulder. When the crying suddenly intensified, Enid was afraid at first that her
condition had worsened. But then she turned around and realized that the stuffed panda had
dropped to the floor.
“Oh, you dropped your teddy?” she asked, and bent down to pick it up.

When the warm panda was back in Wednesday’s arms she calmed down a little bit. Enid brought
her to the window to look outside, hoping to see the Addams family arrive, but to her great relief,
the door opened behind her just then and Wednesday’s mother stepped inside.

A hundred emotions crossed her face the moment she caught sight of her crying child, but her
features finally settled into a bittersweet smile as she crossed the room.

“My little rain cloud”, she murmured. Then, looking at Enid and stretching out her arms she asked:
“May I?”

Wednesday’s breath hitched when she was passed over to her mother. While her mind tried to
remember all of the reasons why she hadn’t wanted her parents to come, she was shocked by how
strongly her senses reacted to her mother’s presence. Everything about her brought a sense of
comfort that she hadn’t felt in a long time. Her smell, the sound of her voice, the feeling of being
held in her familiar embrace…

Wednesday released a breath that almost sounded like a sigh of relief when she settled into her
arms. Morticia held her in a different position, one that somehow eased her pain, and when she
started rocking her she almost forgot completely about her aching stomach.

“This is how you liked to be held”, Morticia smiled down at her little raven. “See? Feels much
better, doesn’t it?”

Wednesday could only nod, and she closed her eyes momentarily, relishing in the relief. But after a
short moment, she finally remembered something.

“Where’s dad?” she asked.

She had expected to see them both. Had her father not come? And why was she disappointed?

“Your father is outside with Pugsley”, Morticia chuckled. “They’re unloading the car.”

Now, Wednesday was confused.

“Why?” she asked.

Her nose scrunched a little, and Enid, who was watching from the side, thought this was the most
endearing thing she had ever seen.

“Because we’re not gonna just pop in and stay half an hour and then leave, now that we’ve come
all this way to help you”, her mother explained. “It’s going to be late soon, and I heard the roads
will be slippery tonight. We’ve been given permission to stay the night, since you’re sick and…
not completely yourself at the moment.”

Part of Wednesday felt awkward about her family staying over. Another, possibly insane part of
her, felt relieved that they were staying a little longer.

She allowed herself to lean her head against her mother’s arm, and rest her eyes a little more. Soon
enough, there was a knock on the door and Enid opened to reveal Wednesday’s father and brother.

Gomez hurried over to the other half of his family, pausing in the same way that Morticia had
when he saw Wednesday up close.
“My heart fills with such joy, seeing you again my little viper”, he finally said, and leaned in to
give her temple a gentle kiss.

Pugsley, who stepped out from behind Gomez, was mesmerized by this version of his sister, who
he had no memory of meeting, but he was equally concerned by the painful looking rash that
covered her.

“Will she be alright?” he anxiously asked his parents.

“Of course she will”, Morticia reassured him softly.

“And she will feel better even faster after she drinks what grandmama prepared for her before we
left home”, Gomez added. “She made her special herbal water. It was always a great remedy.”

He opened up the bag that he was carrying and brought out an object that earned a glare from
Wednesday. It was some kind of beverage, which she was sure would be very helpful, but it was in
a sippy cup.

“I’m not drinking from that!” she protested.

“Okay”, Morticia answered her. “But if you want a normal cup I’m going to have to put you down
or you’ll spill.”

Wednesday looked even more sullen, hearing this. It was safe to say she was not enthusiastic to go
back to how terrible she’d been feeling before her mother started holding her in just the right way.
She finally reached her hand out and accepted the sippy cup from her father.

A smile finally found its way onto Pugsley’s face when Wednesday started drinking.

“Hey, Wednesday”, he said. “You are actually a very cute baby.”

This caused Wednesday to turn around and give him one of her death stares.

“I’ll rip your tongue out if I hear you say that one more time”, she hissed.

“What?” Pugsley said. “You are! You don’t have to get so violent.”

Morticia chuckled a little at her children’s bickering.

“Don’t be too hard on her, okay?” she said to her son. “Your sister’s not feeling well, she’s a little
sensitive. You can spend more time with her tomorrow morning.”

“I’m not sensitive!” Wednesday objected, but the tear tracks on her cheeks that still hadn’t dried up
completely, and the fact that she was clinging to her mother, told a different story.

She had finished her drink at this point, and Morticia took the sippy cup out of her hand and passed
it over to Enid. That’s when the roommate’s heightened werewolf senses caught a whiff of the
liquid it had contained.

“Wait…”, she said. “What part of herbal water smells like booze?”

“Oh, it contains a bit of grandmama’s homemade Whiskey”, Gomez said proudly.

Enid’s eyes widened and her heart sped up.

“You can’t give alcohol to a baby!” she protested in horror.

“You forget, Wednesday isn’t just any baby”, Gomez chuckled. “This is what we gave her every
time she had a stomach ache, and it worked like a charm! I promise it’s not harmful to her.”

Enid looked down at Wednesday with furrowed brows and tried to feel some reassurance. She
knew, logically, that the Addams family was anatomically different to others. The smaller girl’s
eyelids were drooping, and it seemed like she’d finally be able to fall asleep. She supposed, since
she’d already been given this remedy many times as a child… She didn’t seem to have any lasting
negative effects as a teenager. She had turned out quite alright… Rather magnificent actually.

She stopped her train of thought when Gomez turned to give Wednesday another kiss on her head.

“Pugsley and I will come back and see you in the morning when you’re feeling better”, he said.

“Night, Wednesday”, Pugsley said, and the male half of the Addams family left the room.

Enid met Morticia’s eyes.

“Is there anything I can help with?”

Morticia smiled and shook her head.

“No”, she reassured. “I may only get one evening with her like this. I don’t mind staying until she
falls asleep. You probably have homework to do?”

Enid realized that she actually did, and so she settled on her bed to go over her notes from history
class.

Morticia ended up staying long efter Wednesday had fallen asleep. Sitting on her daughter’s bed,
with the little one in her arms, she had trouble tearing her gaze away from her innocent face,
watching her chest rise and fall with the same wonder she had felt on the night she’d first been
born.

Chapter End Notes

More of Morticia, Gomez and Pugsley is coming up in the next chapter! I couldn't fit
all the stuff I wanted into this one so I guess they're going to have to stick around a
little. Any last minute suggestions for what might happen while the family is back
together?

Maybe this is a bit of a weird sickfic... You certainly won’t find that many with a
tomato allergy as the root of the problem xD But I just thought it was such a typical
human toddler thing, it was the perfect way to torture Wednesday. But since she'll be
small for a whole month, I reckon she also has the time to catch a common cold at
some point later on as that would also be fun to deal with.

Anyway, happy weekend everyone!

When Enid woke up the next morning, she immediately went to check on Wednesday. This
morning, the toddler was sleeping curled into a ball around the panda she'd borrowed from Enid.

How could she possibly be allowed to be so precious? It was bewildering that so many others were
afraid of her, when Enid knew for a fact that she was literally the biggest cinnamon roll on the
planet.

Thankfully, the rash had disappeared during the night, though her cheeks looked
uncharacteristically rosy. If Enid were to guess, her friend would probably be quite exhausted from
the whole ordeal. If it were up to Enid to decide, she should skip classes today to have a day to rest.
But she knew that Wednesday would be furious if she didn't wake her, so she reluctantly started
shaking the small body awake.

She watched as her best friend did a sleepy morning stretch, strangely similar to that of a cat. Her
brown eyes slowly opened, and she blinked a few times before she suddenly sat up. Her posture
was rigid and only her eyes moved as she glanced around the room for a short moment.

"Where's my family?" she then asked.

Enid smiled brightly at her.

"Good morning to you too", she said. "Your family stayed over in one of the guest rooms
downstairs. They're probably getting ready to meet you at breakfast."

Enid thought she might have imagined it, but it seemed like Wednesday relaxed a little at her
words.

About 20 minutes later the two roommates walked into the cafeteria, and immediately spotted the
Addams bunch at a table close to the door. Wednesday hadn't really gotten her appetite back after
last night (swallowing her morning potion had been especially awful), but she grabbed some yogurt
and a banana for show.

The other students were used to her by now, and had stopped their constant staring the past couple
of days. Her family, however, was in total awe, and she had three pairs of eyes on her every step
she took.

She sat down next to Pugsley, figuring he would be the least sentimental one of the three, and
started unenthusiastically scooping yogurt into her mouth while her parents greeted her with much
too much excitement. A short moment later, she felt someone literally pinch her cheek. She
whipped her head around in time to see Pugsley retract his hand, looking embarrassed under her
glare.

“I’m sorry”, he quickly said. “It looked so soft…”

Her silence was somehow worse than any verbalized threat, and the younger brother gulped.

“You have to excuse us, Wednesday”, Morticia said. “We’ve all missed you so much. You have to
tell us all about what’s been going on lately.”

And so, what felt like an interrogation started. Wednesday reluctantly answered their curious
questions, while Enid filled in where she felt her grumpy roommate had left out important details.
It actually made time fly by, and soon the start of first period was approaching.

But as they moved outside to wave Wednesday’s family off, something unexplainable happened to
her.

She remembered being dropped off at the academy for the first time, how she couldn’t wait for
them to leave. That had been the case every time they had left her since then, and she’d expected it
to feel like that again.

But her body had a memory of its own. Surprisingly, it felt a strange attachment to her family and it
didn’t like seeing them leave her. To her great displeasure, it reacted accordingly and tears welled
up in her eyes when she saw the hearse roll in. Pugsley was the first to notice.

“Wednesday?” he said, a little worriedly.

When the parents looked her way, they were both stunned. Parents and daughter looked at each
other for a moment until a small sob escaped from the toddler.

“My little storm cloud…”

Morticia carefully picked up the small child and embraced her while the little one buried her face
in the crook of her neck to hide her pitiful sniffles. Over their daughter’s head she met Gomez’s
eyes, and they were both speechless. What the hell were they supposed to do now?

It had already been hard to let her go the other times they’d left her at the academy, when she’d
been thrilled for them to leave. How were they supposed to leave her while she was crying and
upset to see them go?

“Sweetie, we don’t have to go right this second if you don’t want us to”, the mother murmured.
“We were under the impression that you wanted us out of your hair, but if you’d like us to stay we
don’t have to go back until this evening.”

Wednesday only kept breathing shakily, but Morticia thought it felt like she clung a little tighter to
her. It was the only answer that she needed.
Instead of getting into the car, she started walking back to the castle again, while Gomez turned
around to tell Lurch to park the car again. Soon, they were all back inside the foyer, where
Wednesday, still in her mother’s arms, started trying to wipe the tears of her cheeks. But it was
hard to stop crying now that she already felt out of balance.

Since she had to be ready for class in a few short minutes, Pugsley decided to try and help her out.
Catching her off guard, he reached for the side of her stomach and started tickling her.

Her tearfilled frown was changed into an involuntary laugh, and she squirmed further into her
mother’s embrace to try and get away from the thing that was causing it.

Tickling may acutally be the worst kind of torture, as it made the torturer think you enjoyed it.
While Wednesday did enjoy most kinds of torture, it didn’t include the kind that made her giggle.
So when Pugsley moved to tickle her neck, she made a quick movement and sunk her teeth into his
hand.

"Ouch!"

Both parents laughed a little as Pugsley retracted his hand.

“Just like when the two of you were younger…” Gomez reminisced.

"But remember, you still have your classes", Morticia reminded her daughter.

"I suppose the three of us can tour the school in the meantime", Gomez suggested, and something
nostalgic came over him. "We can make a trip down memory lane, my love. Revisit all our favorite
spots."

He shared a look with Morticia so intense it almost made both Wednesday and Pugsley gag.
Wednesday could see on her brother's face that he would rather be anywhere but on his parents' trip
of nostalgia.

She squirmed out of her mother's arms and grabbed Pugsley's hand.

"Pugsley's coming with me to class", she said, and started pulling him towards where her first
period would be held.

"Okay!" her parents called after them in surprise. "See you at lunch!'

"Thank you!" Pugsley whispered to her.

So, Pugsley tagged along to all of her morning classes. When she was asked why her brother was
still there, she used car trouble as an excuse. It turned out the teachers were actually okay with
having a guest there for the day. Wednesday got the impression that most of them were thinking of
Pugsley as a potential future student.

The only person that seemed to have a problem with him there was the same bully that had given
her a hard time earlier in the week. When he realized who Pugsley was, he sent a condescending
smirk Wednesday's way.

“Need your big brother here to hold your hand?” he taunted as the class had finished up. “Maybe
you’re homesick? I never believed your bad girl act anyway. If you’re gonna be a big baby, why
don’t you just run home to mommy?”
His comment was hitting a little too close to home, as her breakdown that morning was something
she never wanted people to know about. She was about to resort to violence, when Enid ushered
her out of the classroom.

The sunny weather persisted on this day as well, and while Enid had lunch with her film club, the
Addams bunch brought sandwiches down to the lake for a family fishing trip.

Birds lifted from their branches and scattered in panic at the sound of the grenade going off in the
water. As dead fish were floating around in front of them, Gomez once again got a nostalgic look
on his face.

“I remember the first fishing trip I took you on”, he said to his daughter. “You were about as old as
you look right now. On that trip, you managed to slay a 120 pound catfish. It was one of my
proudest moments.”

The whole lunch break felt like being on holiday, and when it was over, she felt very reluctant to
go to bed. Her parents encouraged her to go have her nap. Having raised her, they knew her temper
would likely be hard to deal with if she didn’t sleep. Pugsley offered to accompany her upstairs, but
when they were out of their parents’ sight, he stopped.

“You don’t have to nap, right?” he asked her. “I mean, it won’t hurt to skip it just this one time,
while I’m here? I was thinking, you might be interested in doing something more exciting.”

And from his pocket, he pulled a couple of grenades that he’d snatched from their parents while
fishing. She answered him with a mischievous grin.

“What do you have in mind?” she asked. “Are you thinking vandalizing the teacher’s
headquarters? Blowing the electricity?”

“That idiot that was talking shit to you earlier”, he said. “Does he have any prized possessions?”

Wednesday finally understood where he was going, and she suddenly filled with excitement.
Guiding him through the hallways, she reached the hallway where she knew the douchebag’s dorm
was situated. There, Pugsley took off the backpack he was carrying, and when he opened it, none
other than Thing jumped out. The three of them found the right door.

“Thing, do your thing”, Pugsley said.

The hand climbed up the doorframe and started picking the lock. It only took a short moment, and
then they were inside.

The room was filthy. This didn’t seem to be the type of guy to ever have lifted a finger to do chores
in his life. So many things were thrown around the room, the guy could have almost qualified for
an episode of hoarders. Clearly, he loved gathering items, and it shouldn’t be that hard to find stuff
that he held extra dear.

They looked around for a bit, and when they were ready to leave, they had found quite a few
things:

A jersey, signed by a famous football star that Wednesday had heard him talking fondly of, a game
console and two limited edition video games, a pair of very expensive sneakers, a teddy bear that
looked like it came from his childhood (Wednesday laughed aloud at this), as well as a chest of
notes that he had found important enough to keep, including some very inappropriate letters he had
exchanged with a girl from summer camp.
Happy with their finds, they locked the door back up, and went outside, leaving a bit of distance
between themselves and the school in hopes that no one would hear the blast. Pugsley put all of the
items in a large metal bin in the middle of a small field, and then backed up a decent amount of
steps.

“Ready to get your revenge?” he asked his sister.

He slipped one of the grenades in her hand, and she pulled the pin out. She then tried to hit the bin
with an underarm throw, but unfortunately, it turned out that her aim was off. Like, way off. The
grenade flew upwards instead of forwards, meaning it would soon return pretty much to where it
had started.

“Shit!” Pugsley exclaimed.

He quickly picked the small girl up and ran as fast as he could to get out of the way. He almost
stumbled when the grenade went of behind them, but miraculously stayed upright and none of
them got hurt. They were both stunned to silence for a long moment, before Pugsley spoke again.

“How about I do the throwing?” he asked.

“Yes”, Wednesday quickly answered.

He put her back down and they approached the bin again.

“You can help me pull the pin”, he suggested, to ensure that she would get to participate in this
revenge plan.

Wednesday supposed she would have to settle with that, and when her brother held out another
grenade for her, she only pulled the pin out. Pugsley then proceeded to yeet the grenade in the right
direction, and his impeccable aim helped it land right inside the bin with Mr. Douchebag’s prized
possessions.

Wednesday felt very satisfied when they walked back to the castle.

“Do you need some coffee to stay awake for your final classes?” Pugsley asked her.

Wednesday’s eyes widened with excitement. Enid hadn’t let her have coffee since she turned little.
She had missed it immensely, and she was very thankful for this opportunity to defy the stupid rule
that Enid had given her. What was the worst that could happen anyway?

They found themselves on Wednesday’s second to last class, both fueled by coffee and the feeling
of sweet revenge.

Wednesday was seated next to Xavier in this class, and there was an empty seat across the aisle
from her. This is where Pugsley got to sit. Both were expecting another boring hour to pass them
by. Unfortunately, Wednesday may have slightly underestimated how much she would be affected
by coffee, and she started feeling different only a few minutes after class had started.

It wasn't like her concentration skills and impulse control were very impressive as of late, but while
she was under the influence of caffeine, it was ten times worse. Her body was buzzing with energy,
and she felt like there were a thousand more important things she could be doing.

She couldn't focus on the teacher in front of the class for more than 5 seconds at a time before she
was filled with the irresistible urge to move.
First, she felt her chair was too close to her desk, so she quickly jumped down, scooted it
backwards, and got back up. Then, she tried to listen to the teacher, she really did. But before she
knew it, she was sitting backwards on her chair, distracted by the students talking in the back.
Then, she started fiddling with her pencil case, pulling it open with such force that half the contents
ended up on the floor. She jumped back down to the floor and started picking them up, but then she
noticed there was some trash under her desk, and a second later she was running towards the trash
can in the corner of the classroom to throw it away.

Oh, how nice it felt to run.

Getting back into her seat was torturous, in a bad way. She could not stop squirming. She lay down
across the seat of her chair, her upper body hanging down so that she could scan the floor for any
more interesting finds. She didn’t notice that Xavier was watching her from the chair next to hers,
perplexed, to say the least. A bunch of their other classmates had already noticed her hyperactive
behavior, but thankfully the teacher hadn’t noticed yet as he was too busy discussing last week’s
homework with a couple of students in the front. Unfortunately, it was Mr. Martens teaching this
class, and he didn't exactly have a soft spot for Wednesday.

"Don't take this the wrong way, but what's wrong with you?" Xavier hissed discreetly, hoping that
they wouldn’t get in trouble.

"What do you mean?" Wednesday asked from where she was hanging upside down.

“I mean”, Xavier answered. “Why are you spinning around like a crazy person?”

Wednesday sat up again to give him a glare. That's when she noticed a spider that was hanging by
its thread above Xavier's head. She needed to capture that spider.

A second later she had climbed across to Xavier's lap and stood up on top of him, reaching her
hand up towards the ceiling. To her joy, she was just tall enough to reach the spider, and as soon as
it was in her hand she slid down to the floor and sat down under her desk, watching the spider
crawl across her hand.

Xavier was left stunned by the interaction. He felt he had seen many different sides of Wednesday
at this point. First, the romanticized version of her, from when he’d had a crush on her. Then, her
worst sides, when he felt betrayed by her. He’d also seen her be selfless, when she stepped in front
of an arrow for him.

But this side was completely different than anything he’d seen before. She was really being a child
right now, and for the first time, he thought of how unfair it was for her to be cursed in this way.
He realized how inconvenient it must be for her, and how much tougher things were at the
moment. Glancing nervously towards the teacher, he really hoped that she wouldn’t get in trouble.

But the spider soon slipped out of the toddler’s hand and onto the floor. It started crawling away at
a decent speed, and Wednesday crawled after it, out into the aisle between the students' desks. She
was so focused on it, she didn’t take notice of anything else around her until a pair of large shoes
appeared right in front of her and her path was interrupted when she bumped her head into Mr.
Marten’s shins.

She sat back on all fours to look up at her teacher. She had to lean her head all the way back to
meet his eyes, and she gave him a grumpy glare when she saw his displeased expression.

“Miss Addams”, Mr. Marten said coldly. "Care to explain why you're disrupting the class? Think
you're so special, the rules don't apply to you?"
"Last time I checked, it was your job to keep your lessons interesting enough that your students
want to learn from you", Wednesday sassed back.

Mr. Martens face turned a bright shade of red.

“I am running out of patience when it comes to you! The way you've been acting…”

They were interrupted by a light cough, and Pugsley timidly raised his hand.

"Mr… teacher?" he said. "Don't blame Wednesday, it's my fault. I may have given her coffee, and
in hindsight I don't think it was the best idea."

This earned a few giggles from other students, but not from Enid, who gave him a look of
contempt.

"I don't care how this happened", Mr Martens answered. "I want her out of this classroom." He
looked back down on Wednesday again. "Get out of here and come back another day when you
know how to behave!"

The two siblings really had no choice but to leave.

The second they got out of the classroom door, Wednesday started running down the hall. Pugsley
set off after her.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

"To the beehives!" Wednesday yelled in excitement.

She kept running with astonishing energy, all the way out the door, across the field and to the hives
further away on the school grounds. As she approached her destination, she slowed down to a
walk. She longed to get back to beekeeping, but when a bee flew closer to her, she suddenly
remembered how much pain she had been in when she was stung, and suddenly, she wasn't as keen
on staying.

She turned around and started running back towards the school.

"Seriously?" Pugsley complained. He was very out of breath by now. "You said we were going to
the beehives! Where are you going now?"

"I'm allowed to change my mind!" Wednesday answered, and soon they were back inside the
school.

Wednesday noticed how tired her brother was getting and, as torturing him was possibly her most
favorite thing in the entire world, she decided to keep running. She circled around the maze of
corridors, and soon, her endearing toddler laugh was echoing through the empty halls.

It caught Pugsley off guard, and he couldn't help but smile. Though he was getting tired of running
and could have easily caught her if he wanted to, he slowed down a little on purpose, not wanting
her to stop laughing. Her adorable giggling continued until Pugsley finally decided he'd had
enough. That's when he caught up with her, picked her up and immediately placed her on his
shoulders.

Her giggle was changed into an angry frown. Only babies ride on people's shoulders. How was she
gonna explain this if anyone saw her? She made sure to pull his hair hard as she held onto his head
to keep from falling down.
"Hey!" Pugsley complained. "Don't you miss being tall? Well... taller, at least."

Wednesday looked down towards the floor, and realized he was right. The view from up there was
a nice change, and it actually tickled her tummy in a not too unpleasant way.

“Let’s go find mom and dad”, Pugsley said, while Wednesday huffed disappointedly. “We’ll see
what they want to get up to before we leave.”

Hearing this, Wednesday’s attitude immediately changed. She’d forgotten for a moment that her
family was leaving soon, and now she felt impatient to find her parents.

It didn’t take them too long to find them in front of the portraits in the library, though they seemed
to be looking at each other a lot more than any of the paintings.

“Back so soon?” Morticia asked, not commenting on the fact that Wednesday was riding on her
brother’s shoulders.

“Yes, Wednesday was thrown out for disruptive behavior”, Pugsley explained.

This caused the parents to light up.

“Oh, I’m so proud of you, my little viper”, Gomez beamed, and he grabbed his daughter from her
brother’s shoulders.

Before she knew it, she’d been thrown into the air. A delightful terror filled her for a moment
before she landed in her father’s arms again. He gave her a beaming smile before he threw her
again, and this time she gave him a laugh in return.

“You used to love this when you were a kid”, Gomez said, and kept her in his arms even though he
was done throwing her in the air. “Now, how would you like to spend the rest of the afternoon?”

Wednesday made sure to enjoy the time she had with her family, even though she hated that they
knew that she wanted them there. But then again, if they thought she didn’t want to be around
them, they might not come back? If she wanted people in her life, she might have to show them
some kind of appreciation. Who knew that relationships worked like that?

Wednesday gave them a tour of the fencing equipment, which she enjoyed even though she sadly
couldn’t use any of it.

They caught and skinned a rabbit together. Wednesday got to borrow her father’s knife, since her
own were confiscated, but her parents soon realized that she was very close to chopping her fingers
off. Because of that, she had to hold the knife together with her father, who guided her movements
in a way that would ensure she kept all her body parts.

After that, they had dinner together, discussing gothic latin poems throughout.

They even managed to squeeze in a quick walk through Jericho, before it was time for three of
them to leave for real.

Enid met up with them outside the school. Having seen how Wednesday reacted that morning, she
figured her roommate might need to be comforted once her family had left. Like she had predicted,
Wednesday’s eyes filled with tears once again when the hearse rolled in.

Standing with her arms limply at her sides while tears started streaming down her cheeks, she
made no attempt to seek comfort from anyone, but Pugsley picked her up this time.

“It was really fun hanging out with you today”, he said. “Thank you for letting me come to your
classes.”

He then passed her off to Gomez, figuring she was the most anxious to say goodbye to them.

“Parent’s weekend is coming up real soon”, the father tried to console her. “We’ll be back to see
you then, and we can talk on the crystal ball any time you want.”

“I don’t want to talk on your stupid crystal ball”, Wednesday cried.

In all honesty, she didn’t know what she wanted, only that her instincts in this moment didn’t want
her family to leave.

“I’m sure you’ll be having lots of fun while we’re away”, Morticia added, and stood next to her
husband from where she gently stroked Wednesday’s cheek while the little one sniffled. Then, she
widened her eyes. “Oh, I can’t believe I almost forgot.”

She rushed to the car, and opened up the trunk from where she grabbed a small item before she
returned to their side.

“We brought you your first violin”, she smiled, offering the instrument, protected by a beautiful
case. “We realized it must be hard for you to play you cello right now, and we figured this might
act as a substitute. It’s child’s sized, so it should fit you!”

Wednesday’s spirits lifted slightly, looking at the item in her hands. She did look forward to
playing an instrument again. But when she was passed from Gomez’s arms to Morticia’s, her
crying intensified again. She realized that they were trying to cheer her up, and she wasn’t going to
fall for it so easily. If she wanted to be sad, she damn well would be.

“Don’t cry, my love”, Morticia murmured, rocking her baby slightly again.

She felt tears threatening to well up in her own eyes, and she could not allow that to happen in front
of her daughter as that would make the goodbye so much harder. She planted one last kiss on her
head before she passed her over to Enid.

“See you soon, little rain cloud”, Gomez said, and both parents and Pugsley waved towards her
before getting in the car.

When the car had rounded the corner, Wednesday was left alone with Enid, holding her violin in a
tight grip while tears continued to fall.
