Lessons- ‘The star outside my window’

Introduction: Hello, my name is Riana Ciobanu from class 5F. Through this video, I am telling you
the fabulous lessons learned by me from the book of the month, called ‘The star outside my
window’. If you want to increase and cumulate more information for your knowledge, let’s start.
Lessons:
1st lesson: So, the first lesson from this book is that some grownups don’t mind if children cry,
scream or make a mess, even if it is not really normal to make these things. Those grownups,
however, don’t want children to lie to them, and if they do, they might get angry at him/ her. We
can take as examples when Noah, Aniyah smaller brother, continued wetting his bed, Mrs.
Iwuchukwu didn’t shotut at him, in fact, every morning, when she looks at the bed to see if Noah
has left her a ‘surprise’, she is quite happy. But when Aniyah dropped the spaghetti bowl on the
floor, she was angry at her because Sophie, a thirteen year old girl has told her that she dropped
the bowl on purpose, even if Aniyah didn’t.
2nd lesson: The second lesson that I have learned is that children can do dangerous journeys to
fight for the rights of their beloved ones just because they care for them and want them to be
safe and happy. We can take as an example when Aniyah, Noah, Ben and Travis went to Royal
Observatory Greenwich to tell the people that the new star was their mum’s heart and to name
the star after their mum’s name, Isabella. This was for sure a dangerous journey because:
1. their dad has stolen their mum’s life and also wanted to come after Aniyah and Noah
2. during this journey, three children of four have been accidented, especially Aniyah
3. if they wouldn’t had a satnav they wouldn’t had known on which way to go and would had
been lost already without food
4. they would had gone to prison if Mrs. Audrey wouldn’t had asked them their mom’s name.
3rd lesson: The third lesson that I have learned from the book of the month is that instant ideas
can help you when you don’t know what to do during erratically events and can provide you
winning against an inticrate event. For example, when Aniyah, Noah, Ben and Travis were at the
entrance of Royal Observatory Greenwich, but didn’t know how to enter inside being unspotted,
Travis thought about trowing candies on the cars parked there so he could create a diversion
because the security guards would come and let the entrance clear. This instance idea helped
the kids to go inside the Observatory being insidious and provided them winning.
4th lesson: The fourth lesson that I have learned is that siblings can help you in many situations,
when you are afraid, when you want to hug someone, when you begin to cry, when you don’t
know how to solve an exercise, when you did a mistake and want someone’s help to solve it etc.,
especially bigger siblings. In this book we see that Aniyah, Noah’s bigger sister takes care of him
and helps him not to be afraid, not to cry so much and wet his pants at night because Noah isn’t
with his mum anymore, so she plays to roles, Noah’s sister, but also Noah’s mum. In conclusion,
Aniyah helped Noah in many situations.
5th lesson: The fifth lesson, the final one that I have learned reading this book ‘The star outside
my window’ is that when we see a children or a grownup that are abused in any form, we should
help them by calling a Childline (from Romania), if they are children, at the following telephone
numbers: 116111 or 0800 500 550, and if they are grownups by calling the following telephone
number (from Romania): 0800 030 445 or by calling depreHUB helpline at 037 445 6420, a
helpline for domestic violence in Romania, by calling the National Agency for Equal Opportunities
between Women and Men at 0800 500 333. However, if they are in immediate danger call 112.
And always remember: kindness is free.
