Hello everyone, my name is Meena. I am in ninth grade.

Today, I am going to explain about the importance of reading and the positive effects it has on your
mind.

We may all ask ourselves, why is reading important? Why is it such a big part in our everyday
studies? Well, it has a lot of good benefits to your brain. Reading can help you improve
physically, psychologically, and spiritually. It also can teach you about wrong and right doings,
can boost your levels of creativity, and can lower stress.

My first point is that reading can strengthen your brain activity. To explain more clearly, your
brain is more functional while reading because you use more of your critical thinking abilities,
word comprehension, and your imagination will expand when you read descriptive sentences.

Reading can also improve your communication skills. Vocabulary is an important key to
improving communication, and reading is also a part of that. So, writing down unknown
vocabulary words while reading is an incredibly effective way to improve your communication
skills.

Next, reading can help you explore yourself and your interests. When you read, you have an
opportunity to think in different perspectives, and learn about new things, like cultures, people,
and new ways of logical thinking that can enhance your mind. It can also give you new interests
and ideas. For example, you could be reading a historical novel and suddenly realize that you
have an interest in history and go towards that path. Or you could read a mystery novel and
figure out you have interest in paying attention to clues and solving cases.

My last point is that when you read a lot, your knowledge grows. Having multiple knowledge
about your surroundings, like the world around you, can make you more of an engaging speaker, and
can allow you to talk to more people from diverse backgrounds and experiences and you can connect
based on what information you have learned.

Reading is a very essential part of everyone’s daily life, and I hope we all realize how crucial it is
to learn reading. That is all I have for today. Thank you.
