    QUESTION

    It is generally believed in some quarters that the tort of detinue which is the

    father of all torts dealing with wrongful interference with goods/chattels, has

    outlived its usefulness. This is in view of the encroachment into its territory by

    conversion through detention.

    In not more than three foolscap pages, analyse the above statement by freely

    expressing your opinion on the subject matter as to whether the two torts are

    mutually exclusive or not, having in mind the origin and recent developments in

    the law. Your answer must be supported by VALIDLY-TESTED JUDCIAL

    DECISIONS, BOTH IN NIGERIA AND OTHER JURISDICTIONS, SUCH AS

    ENGLAND, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
