MECHANICS: Solo Singing Contest
1. This competition is open for bona fide UZP students only.
2. Each department must have one representative.
3. Duration of the performance must be 3-4 minutes only. There will be a 1-point deduction for every
exceeding 5 seconds.
4. The participant should sing one (1) full length minus one song.
5. Choice of song (OPM) should have originality. Participants shall not submit the same song as with the first
submitted choice of the other participants.
6. Songs that will be used should have no vulgar words.
7. Wearing revealing clothes is strictly prohibited.
8. The music that will be used should be passed through a flash drive. It is the entrant’s responsibility to keep
a back‐up copy available at all times for use.
9. Failure to follow the rules may lead to a deduction of points or disqualification.
● Three judges will score the contestants. In the event of a tie, a "sing-off" will be held. Entrant (s) involved in
the tie will be given 5 minutes to select another song.
● All scores are final as received from the judges. Giving false information on the entry form is the reason for
immediate disqualification.
● Songs containing profanity are NOT permitted and may result in immediate disqualification.
● Additional rules and requirements may be announced prior to the beginning of the contest.
● Violation of any of these rules shall be grounds for immediate disqualification and forfeiture of their prize.
● All participants agree to abide by these rules.
● These rules may be changed or at modified any time

Mechanics and Criteria for SayaWit (Sayaw-Awit)
1) The SayaWit contest is open to all participants of the UZP students. Only those officially enrolled are allowed to join.
2) Each team should be represented and as much as possible, members of each team should participate in the SayaWit
contest.
3) Each team must be composed of 5-8 students only.
4) Teams may use any songs they prefer for the Awit and Sayaw. The song must not contain inappropriate, lewd or
offensive language. They can opt to make their own song and dance given that it is also related to the theme: “Teamwork
Makes the Dream Work”. Steps for the Sayaw could be interpretative or contemporary as long as it is wholesome.
5) Teams can choose to use props or costumes. If costumes will be used, it should be modest. Props that may possibly
cause harm or injury are discouraged.
6) Each team is given a maximum of 7 minutes (including entrance and exit) to perform their SayaWit presentation. Points
will be deducted from the team’s score if they exceed the time limit.
6) The SayaWit presentation of each team will be judged with the following criteria:
a. Relevance to the theme – 25%
b. Projection (clarity of words/message/expression) – 25%
c. Presentation (harmony of voices, rhythm in dancing) – 25%
d. Creativity and originality – 10%
e. Technical components (music, props/costumes) – 10%
f. Audience impact – 5%

MECHANICS/GUIDELINES FOR HIP-HOP CONTEST
1. This competition is open for bona fide UZP students only.
2. Entrants are responsible for verifying personal information.
3. A crew consists of a minimum five (5) to a maximum of seven (7) members. The members of the crew may be made up of any
combination of males and females.
4. The duration of the dance should be a minimum of 3 minutes, and a maximum of 6.
5. For circumstances beyond the control of the crewmember(s), substitutions of participants in the crew may be made. A maximum
of two substitutions will be permitted. A crew may also elect not to substitute its missing crewmember(s) as long as the crew does
not go below five (5) members. The event organizer and/or the SCC officer-in-charge in the competition must approve such
circumstances.
6. Attire may include accessories such as hats, caps, gloves, scarves, jewelry, etc. Removing pieces of clothing during the performance
is permitted provided it is not offensive, or out of character. Discarded clothing should be placed outside the competition area and
never thrown off the stage into the audience. Appropriate undergarments must be worn by all crewmembers both male and female,
at all times. Clothing too short and/or too tight will be scrutinized and may be deemed inappropriate especially for overexposure of
certain areas of the body and/or age appropriateness. Body oils, body or face paints or other substances applied to the body or
clothing that may affect the clean dry surface of the stage and the safety of fellow competitors are prohibited. Crews may wear
dance/stomp boots, sneakers or athletic sport shoes. All footwear must have clean, non‐scuff soles (street shoes, dress shoes, high
heels and street boots are not acceptable). Tap shoes, jazz shoes and bare feet are prohibited.
7. Props that are not considered an integral part of a crew’s “attire'' are prohibited (i.e. canes, chairs, tambourines, musical
instruments). Kneepads or any other performing apparatus to aid in the safety and proper execution of a move is allowed but
concealed, when possible, so as not to detract from the performance or the judges’ concentration on the performance.
8. The routine must be performed, in its entirety, to music selected and prepared by the crews. The competition organizer(s) will not
provide the crews’ music.
9. A crew’s competition music must be saved on a flash drive and be the only piece of music saved on the flash drive. It is a crew’s
responsibility to keep a back‐up copy available at all times for use.
10. The competition music must not contain inappropriate, lewd or offensive language.
11. If at any time prior to or during competition a crewmember is ill, injured, or his/her physical or emotional condition is at risk by
participating, he/she may be declared ineligible to compete, or disqualified from competing further. The competition organizer(s)
reserves the right to withdraw any competitor who appears to have such serious disability or injury or needs medical attention.

MECHANICS/GUIDELINES FOR DANCE SPORT CONTEST
1. Competitors must be enrolled in Universidad de Zamboanga - Pagadian within the school year
2022-2023.
2. Participants must be physically fit.
3. The regulations will cover at least three (3) of the following dances: Latin American Discipline: Samba,
Chachacha, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive.
4. No routine shall include the following: Head Spin, Head Stand, Back or Front Flips, and
Lifts with the uplifted person’s feet any higher than the lifting person’s shoulder.
5. In all rounds of the competition, the music shall be in a minimum of one minute and thirty seconds to a
maximum of two minutes, fading out at the last few seconds of the time duration stated.
6. In this competition, the music must have the character of the dance performed. In Latin Dances for
example, no disco music shall be played.

MECHANICS/GUIDELINES FOR SPOKEN POETRY CONTEST
1. SPOKEN POETRY is word-based performance art. It is a piece of writing meant to be delivered to an audience.
Its oral delivery is centered on its rhythm, intonation, rhyme scheme, content, and execution.
2. The contest is open to all UZP students who are officially enrolled this semester. There may only be one
representative per department.
3. The theme of the spoken poetry is as follows: “Challenges in a Brave New World: Stories of Hope from a Young
Learner.” The piece must be related to the theme and must not contain any offensive and harsh language or
content.
4. It should be created/ owned composition (Copying of piece from the internet or other sources is strictly
prohibited);
5. Each contestant is given 3 to 5 minutes to deliver their piece.
6. The spoken word poetry piece must be an original composition. The piece should be written in Tagalog or
English is the only language allowed for the presentation.
7. Costumes or props must be appropriate to the topic.
