THE DEMAND FOR THE ENHANCEMENT AND ADAPTATION OF ACADEMIC AND

HEALTH-ORIENTED PROGRAMS TO THE TRANSITION PERIOD OF EDUCATION

It can be gleaned that after the experiences of challenges and problems posed

by the pandemic crisis in education, higher levels of academic readiness and resiliency

measures and interventions are deserved by the learners. Many learners need more

learning recovery services due to the extent of their vulnerability to the risks of learning

loss during the crisis. There are ample learning gaps and problems that are created by

pandemic that demand for comprehensive remediation and solutions from educators

and school professionals and leaders.

However, it is also evident that amidst the resumption of face to face learning, it

can be viewed that it is not only the academic resilience of learners that need to be

monitored and guided. It is also the health status and well-being of the learners in terms

of physical, mental and emotional health. Thus, it only shows that learners demand for

both enhanced academic and health-related programs and interventions especially

during this stage of transition of education system into the resumption of school-based

learning.

To attain the cited objectives, there are established programs and initiatives of

the DepED that require improvement and adaptation to the present education transition.

These programs include the Oplan Kalusugan and Oplan Balik Eskwela Programs. The

enhancement in the provisions of Oplan Kalusugan Program will help strengthen the

readiness of the schools in fostering complete sets of health-oriented services for all
learners. This is especially evident at this period of resumption of face to face learning,

when the pandemic is still ongoing. Thus, schools and learning communities still face

the rigid and comprehensive need and demand for sustainable implementation and

even more enhanced practice of health-oriented services under the Oplan Kalusugan

Program.

On the other hand, the Oplan Balik Eskwela is evidently directed towards the

adaptation of the academic preparations and educational measures of the schools

towards the transition into face to face learning resumption. This program is one of the

current initiatives of the DepED to employ specificity, order, accuracy and organization

in the educational services offered to the learners after the experiences of the adverse

impacts and disruptions posed by the pandemic against the education system. Thus,

Oplan Balik Eskwela represents a comprehensive body of interventions, innovations

and services that support learners’ readiness towards the revitalization of established

methods and system of education.
