DATA AND PURPOSE With advances in the automation of ships, the "AUXITROL 1ank-gauging system has been specially desi- ‘gned and developed with the purpose of giving cutomatic and continuous leval or volume readings for each ‘of a ship's tanks Our system is based on the principle of measuring the hydrostatic pressure by blowing air of a neutral gos inte @ pipe osening at the hottom of the tank which makes it possible to measure the levels of different types of liguids (lubricating oil, fresh or salt water, etc.). The equipment con also be used with very vis cous products such as molasses and bitune: High and low level alarms can be added to the main system. 2-MAIN UNIT i ‘The apparatus is in the form of a monobloc essembly consisting of two different parts + The CT 050 MC oF MR indicator +The CT 100 M flow modulator 2.1 Indicator, type CT 050 MC or MR (photogroph p. 14). The indicator is fitted with either a square flange, 144 x 144°mm, or a round Flange’200 mm diam. The size of the fixing hole to be cut in the panel is the seme for both types, 137 mm diam. Fi by 3mm serewe (see paragraph on Installation) ing is The body (A) ie in AS 10 G aluminium allay. Ta the lower part of this is Fixed thehigh-precis ion ane- roid capsule in beryllium bronze (B) (see list of capsules in Appendix). A heat-treated stee! needle (C) transmits the movement of this capsule to © pivoted system (0). This systemcontains the scale adjustment of the instrument (adjustrent can be mode 15 ~ cithor side of the moximum point ofthe capsule). The lever (E) transmits the movement of this system to a toothed sector and pinions (F) which ore the pointer moving ever a diol fixed by two screws. directly connected 2.2 Flow modulator CT 100 M (photograph p. 15): This is mounted directly on the back of the body and consists of two main garts - the flow regulator + the nonraturn valve 2.21 The flow regularor (A) The lower pert of the device is in brass. It has two valves, one acting as an isolator and the other as a drain valve (B and C). - two connections 1/4" NPT, one marked "A" for the inlet and the other . =a flow regulating screw (0) = porous bronze filter (E) =a non-return valve assembly in stainless stee!, with @ Toflon seat lined with nickel -the valve of this assembly (F) is controlled by the lower diaphragm, which is fabricated of °S" for the dip-tube ng in stainless steel acts on this diaphragm and sets vp a constont pressure dif 2.22 Sofety valve (K) This assembly comprises ~ the intermediate body, in brass, which makes a seoled joint with the lower body and the diay phragm and is bolted on the other side to the relief valve (G} which closes the outlet of the re- gulator to the pressure gauge if the pressure becomes too high ~one 1/4" NPT connection to the indicator + the uppier diaphragm (H) controlled by spring (I), which closes the valve in the event of exces+ the spring (I) is adjusted manually by the serew (J) + the top cover which seals the diaphraga to the intermadiate body ‘3- SPECIFICATION ~ Accuracy : £1 %of the value indicated - Supply pressure 2 bers = Air consum +5 litres per hour in normal working conditions ~ laput signal depends on depth to be gauged + Adjustments zero and scale adjustment on the indicator and How adjustment on the regulator + Connections 21/4" NPT female ~ Ambient temparature += 30°C to + 70°C D - Effect of vibration vibrations of frequency between 0 and 60tiz have no effect on accuracy 4. ACCESSORIES: 4.2 Alarms ‘Two warning devices adjustable over the whola ceale can be added - operated by sub-miniature reed switches, speciolly designed for moderate voltages and currents. Thay can bo uted for either high or low levels. ~ connections ora made on a scraw-terminal block at the hack af the instrument. 4.3 Graduated curves Several curves (height, volume, weight) can be engraved on the dial, to order. Installation Te order, the instrument cen be supplied separctely as a monobloc assembly, or mounted and wired up ona panel supplied by us. INSTRUMENT SUPPLIED SEPARATELY | (overell dimensions and size of fixing hole, sec p. 13) | = Fixing hele in penel, 137 mm diam. (for both types) Fixing screws ~ squore-flange instrument = four 3,5 mm de holes located ot the four corners of @ square of 130 mm side (as in Drawing 480-7296) ; ~ tound-flange instrument - three 3,5 mm holes 120° apart on o circle 206 mm diam. (As inDra- » wing 480-7521) 2 « CONNECTIONS, 2.1 Fix the instrument with three or four 3 mm screws, according to type. 2.2 Connect the inlet (max. 3 bart) ta the union marked "A" and the dip-tube piping te the connections marked "5" (photo. p. 12). These pipe-tines may be in copper or plastic tube 4/6 mm or 6/8 mm diam. NOTE - Before completing all the connections, blow through all lines with instrument-quality compres sed air. Make sure thot all connections are perfectly tight. Check for leaks by opplying soapy water to all the unions INSTRUMENT-AIR SUPPLY 3.1 Coneral For a satisfactory system, the following are required : @ stop-valva,a filter with drain cock, on expension-valve with prezsure-gauge, copper or plastic tubing and 1/4" NPT unions. Instell the com ponents so that the air from the main menifold-passes in succession through the stop-valve, the filter, the expansion-valve and the pressure-gauge. 3.2 Air supply ond stop volvo = From 5 10 7 bars ; aie must be clean and free from any trace of water or cil. - If the original air contains too much oil, water or solid particles, a seporator and filter mustbe fitted. + Fig stop-valve of suitable diameter. 3.3 Filter and drain cock
