Spryker PIM Glossary

This glossary is going to help you not to get lost in the tons of Spryker terms and abbreviations which we will be using in the course and
which you may face in the documentation.

Term Meaning

Abstract Product a certain product model that does not have its own stock but defines various default properties for the descendant Concrete Products, or Product Variants

Availability of a product if a product can be bought or not in the frontend application. The availability is calculated to be the stock minus the number of reserved items

Back Office  we call it Zed. An administration area created for giving a solid hold over the customization of a store

Buy as a guest allows submitting an order with going through fewer checkout steps, including login  

Cart an entity where cart content is stored  

Concrete Product a product that belongs to one Abstract Product, has a distinctive stock, and always differs from another Concrete Product with at least one Super Product
Attribute. Concrete products are products that you add to your cart when making a purchase 

Checkout a final step in closing a deal and making a purchase

Front-end the touchpoints customers use for interacting with a company (for example, for placing orders) such as an online store, IoT, mobile apps, bots, smart devices,
etc

Gift card a prepaid card entitling its owner to purchase products for the gift card’s value 

Measuring Unit a measuring unit is any unit of measure, like, Item, Kilo, Gramm, Litre, or Metre 

Order matrix a quick view into all sales order items and their current states 

Order state machine a model of computation used to automate order processes 

Packaging Unit basically considered as containers for many individual products (e.g. a Box with many Pens, or a Pallette with many boxes of pens). Packaging units can be
fixed or variable 

Persistent cart keeps track of the unpurchased items in the cart, and saves it until the customer's next visit 

Product Attribute a characteristic of a product that can be used to describe the product features or distinguish between different Product Variants of an abstract product 

Product Barcode a numeric readable code to identify a product 

Product Bundle a group of different products that are sold together as a single item at a certain price 

Product ID a serial number of the next entry you’re making in the Products section in Zed 

Product Option an exclusive personalization, like gift wrapping, engraving, warranty, insurance, or just anything else you’d like to add to a product 

Product Set a group of different products based on relations or recommendations that are offered to be bought together 

Product Variant same as a Concrete Product 

Reclamation a customer’s claim regarding the order 

Refund money is given back to a user for purchase when he is unsatisfied with any product attribute or quality 

Reserved product items are order items. As soon as a user places an order, but the product has not been picked yet, it is flagged as a reserved item, and it is taken into consideration
for the calculation of the product availability 

Returns when shoppers return online purchases  

SKU an internal number that you assign to the product to help you track unique information related to that product 

Spryker B2C Demo Shop a showcase that is pre-loaded with a combination of modules and functionalities best suited for B2C commerce 

Stock the physical amount of concrete products available in the warehouse(s) 

Store a localized B2C shop 

Super Attribute a Product Attribute that is used to distinguish between the different Product Variants of an abstract product 

Warehouse a place where the products are stored before they are sold in an e-commerce shop 

Yves one of the application layers of the Spryker Commerce OS, providing the front-end functionality
