INTRODUCTION

1.1. Background

Branding is not only for companies or products. Beside these two

branding is also used in someone’s life. they could be using it intentionally

but most people unknowingly using it in their daily life. This kind of

branding is what people usually call as personal branding. Personal

branding makes people different from others, people usually use personal

branding for making a good impression to others. Personal branding is

one way to express your surplus to public, either it’s your character, skills

or even a more particular things such as how you communicate to others

which objective is to leave a positive perception to everyone that sees you.

In the digital age, personal branding is more important than ever

before. Personal branding is the practice of creating a unique professional

identity that reflects your values, skills, and expertise, and promotes your

reputation in the industry. People nowadays got an earlier access to

technologies therefore they can start to learn things earlier and got more

skills than people that live in the previous era when they were at the same

age. Therefore the requirement of a job in an industry is getting higher,

and the value of the competitor is also getting higher. To be able to

compete with them someone need to do an extra effort to have an extra

value that can outstand others. Personal branding will help a lot in

outstanding others and getting people’s interest especially in the industry

world.

In a plan to be achieved it is appropriate for someone to make a

strategy so that what you want to achieve is carried out as planned.

Through strategy, people will make certain steps planned to be done in a

specific time considering the surroundings. This will be able to lead

someone to his goal clearly. For that, this research will look at what kind of

strategy done by professionals in building personal branding in social life

to be able to success in his career.

In today's hyper-competitive job market, personal branding has

become an essential component of career success. So personal brand is

an important thing that must be built and cannot be separated from one's

career if one wants to support and develop success in his career. Personal

branding allows you to differentiate yourself from other professionals in

your field and showcase your unique strengths and expertise. A strong

personal brand can also help you attract new opportunities, build your

network, and enhance your professional reputation. This paper explores

the concept of personal branding, its importance in today's hyper-

competitive job market, and the strategies individuals can use to build and

manage their personal brands effectively. Through research and analysis,

this paper identifies the benefits of a strong personal brand, including

MAIN BODY

2.1 Defining Personal Branding

Personal branding is a self framing process just like a brand that’ll

be promoted to target market with well-organized and attractive packaging

which contains personality, expertise, and consistency. This thing plays a

very important role in making a unique character that stands out from

other people’s character in a good way, therefore it will be easier to

compete in a career and to attract people to work with. The term personal

branding first used and discussed in an article written by Tom Peter in

1997. Peter Montoya, author of “The Brand Called You” in Dede Robel

(2012), said that the key of personal branding is knowing how someone is

perceived by others. Simply put, personal branding is a person's way to

“control” other people's perception of himself. Through personal brands

one's credibility will be stronger and visible in public’s point of view.

Because with a personal brand someone will be judged to have the ability

to a field that can provide benefits for audiences.

Personal branding is the process of creating a unique professional

identity that distinguishes you from others in your field. It involves

identifying your strengths, skills, and expertise, and promoting them to

your target audience. Personal branding can be done through a variety of

channels, including social media, websites, blogs, and professional

networks.
