In modern society, consumption has taken a prominent place in our lives. Whether it is to meet
basic needs, such as food, clothing or housing, or to satisfy more superficial desires, consumption is
omnipresent. However, this state of affairs is not without consequences for individuals and the
environment.

consumption can bring benefits to individuals by enabling them to obtain goods and services
necessary for their daily lives. It can also contribute to economic growth by stimulating the production
of goods and services. However, excessive consumption can have harmful consequences on individuals,
pushing them to overconsumption and indebtedness, as well as fostering a culture of consumption that
can lead to the loss of values such as solidarity or responsibility.

consumption has a considerable impact on the environment, whether through the extraction
of raw materials, production, transport, distribution or waste disposal. The overconsumption and waste
of natural resources can lead to dramatic consequences such as deforestation, air and water pollution,

individuals and the environment. This notably involves becoming aware of the consequences of our
consumption choices, as well as promoting a more sustainable and equitable economic model, favoring
quality rather than quantity, reuse and recycling rather than waste, and cooperation rather than
competition.
