Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) is a multidisciplinary Deemed to be University established

on 17th July 2007. It is actively engaged in research and education in Engineering and
Technology, Medical and Dental Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Biotechnology,
Management Sciences, Nursing, Agricultural Sciences, Legal Studies and Hospitality and
Tourism Management, all of which are duly approved by their respectively statutory
councils.
Recognization

SIRO (DSIR) Recognition

• SOA has been recognized as Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO)
by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India.

UGC Graded Autonomy Status

• SOA has been granted with Graded Autonomy Status by University Grants
Commission in 2018.

UGC Section 12(B) Status

• SOA has been included in the list of Deemed to be Universities under Section 12(B)
of UGC Act, 1956.

• The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and its under graduate programme - B.Sc.

of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan.

• SOA has several International Collaborations in Teaching and Research with global
institutions and Universities of repute, among which MoUs have been signed for
student exchange programs with University of California, DAVIS, USA; University of
California, Reverside, USA; New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA; and Southern
Illinois University, USA.

• Eminent professors from abroad are the members of the International Advisory Board
of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan who also act as joint supervisors for research programs.
Research Excellence
• SOA has around 5200 SCOPUS indexed research papers with a SCOPUS h-Index of
55. Despite being the youngest, SOA has the highest number of SCOPUS indexed
publications amongst Universities/deemed Universities in Odisha. SOA has also filed
131 patents, 14 of which have been granted to it.

• In order to further promote research, SOA subscribes to all major e-journals and
e-resources. Additionally, SOA has MoUs with foreign Universities of repute for the
development of knowledge resources in order to strengthen research activities.
IMS & SUM Hospital
as an Emerging Force
in affordable Health
Care Sector
• SOA through its constituent IMS & SUM hospital has emerged as a Major
Healthcare Hub in Eastern India, with patients from neighboring countries also
choosing SUM Hospital for their treatment.

• SUM hospital is unique in that it combines private efficiency in healthcare at

affordable rates. SUM hospital currently provides free doctor consultations to 3500
OPD patients and to 1400 IPD patients on a daily basis. Bed charges are also waived
off for IPD patients. With the current rate of progress, in the next 10 years, SUM
hospital is poised to become the primary healthcare destination for patients in
Eastern India and in adjoining countries.
