Types of Fossils Explained

There are several types of fossils that can form including: 1) Petrified fossils where minerals replace all or part of an organism's structure. 2) Molds and casts where an organism gets buried, decays leaving a space, and other sediments fill the space and harden into rock forms. 3) Carbon films where an organism leaves behind a thin film of carbon residue similar to a fingerprint.
