1) A brief history of movies journey beginning until present

In 1878 the first actual film was an attempt made by photographer Eadweard Muybridge by
putting photographs of an animal running in successive order. “Muybridge was a 19th
century British photographer best known for his photo of a horse. His work often cited as
having “laid the foundation for the birth of cinema”, and “having influenced generations of
artists and filmmakers”. Then in 1889, First Motion Picture Camera by Thomas Edison and
W.K. Dickson develop the Kinetoscope, a device in which film is moved past a light.In 1922,
first commercially 3D film is released called “The Power of Love”. It used anaglyph glasses
with opposite coloured lenses creating the 3D effect. Following, in 1928 Disney’s
‘Steamboat Willie’ was the first Mickey Mouse film released and the first cartoon
synchronized sound. In 1939, one of the first films to be filmed using Technicolour was
“Wizard of Oz” using a hree-strip film process. Late 50’s, early 60’s French New Wave films
burst on the films scene experimenting with the new techniques and style. Mid 1970s a
group of American film makes emerge on the scene with a cutting-edge style. In 1976 the
first VHS recorder was released to the public in Japan by JVC. The Walt Disney Co pays $7.4
billion for Pixar Animation Studios in the year 2006. In the year 2012, Director Peter Jackson
films “The Hobbit” at 48 frames per second (FPS)

2) What is Block Booking and Blind Booking? Please explain and give example
Block booking is the licensing for exhibition of motion-picture films in a block or group, the
licensee being compelled to take an entire group of films or none. A theather may be quoted
a very high price for a booking a major film and a lower price for booking that film with a
smaller film.
Blind Booking meant that exhbitors had to schedule the films for the coming season based
only on descriptions provided by the studio, with no actual preview prints available.
