ABSTRACT
A piece of respiratory equipment utilized in the intensive care unit is the "Design of
Ventilator Machine by the use of Cam with Fixed Inspiratory and Expiratory Time Ratio
(1:2)." Equipment that uses a compression system to pump air is basic and straightforward to
construct. The ventilator is intended to assist persons who are experiencing breathing
difficulties because of injuries or illnesses. These devices are used to manage patients in life-
threatening situations such as lung collapse, coma, and transplant procedures. As of today, a
huge number of oxygen tanks and ventilators are required to support patients who are
suffering from respiratory problems as a result of diseases, injuries, or illnesses that cause
aberrant lung respiration and expiration; as a result, the so-called equipment is in short
supply. In this project study, we designed a compact and cost-effective ventilator that cost
approximately around P7,500 - to more than P10,000 pesos compared to the prior ventilators
in the Philippines that cost between P15,000 – to more than P300,000 pesos. The machine
that the researchers aim to fabricate applies to these categories (infants, toddlers, pre-school,
school age, and adults) because the Ambu bag of the machine is replaceable.
an electric motor powered by a 12V 5A power supply. The researchers used SOLIDWORKS
to design the machine's frames and other pieces to identify the exact proportions to be
employed and to visualize the 3D model design. After designing the ventilator elements, the
researchers use CURA software to select the proper parameters and resolutions (thickness, in-
fill, and filament height) for manufacturing using a 3D printer and polymer filament (PLA).

Following the ventilator's construction, the researchers calibrated the device’s motor
speed to obtain the desired breath cycle for each age group. A 12V power source and a 20V
power source were employed in the calibration. The calibrated motor for toddlers, pre-school,
school-age, and adults, respectively, is 85, 80, 72, and 50 percent for the 12V power supply;
nevertheless, the infant did not accomplish the target breath cycle (1.33 seconds) because the
motor's full speed can only create a 1.6-second breath cycle. The calibrated motor speed from
infant to adult for the 20V power supply, on the other hand, is 72, 54, 50, 54, and 31 percent
respectively. Thus, the study recommends increasing the torque of the DC motor and
