Comments on the functions

Program control SKP Skip block

Program blocks marked with a slash in front of the block number (e.g. “/NlOO...“), are not
considered in the program flow.

Program control DBL Decoding single block

With the function activated all part program blocks are processed individually in the
following manner:
Via NC START key you start the processing of the decoding
single block.
Renewed actuation of the NC START key causes the next
program block to be processed and so on.
Note:
With the SINGLE BLOCK function only traversing blocks can be processed singly. The
function is activated via an interface signal. The press manufacturer can freely realise ope-
ration of this function.
The table below shows the blocks for which the signal DECODING SINGLE BLOCK EFFEC-
TIVE or the signal SINGLE BLOCK EFFECTIVE must be available if a program is to be pro-
cessed block by block.

Traversing blocks ElX qX

Blocks without position data ElX 0X

Computing blocks ElX

Switching and auxiliary function blocks 0X qX

clX SINGLE BLOCK signal or DECODING SINGLE BLOCK signal is required

l Blocks which were “preprocessed” effectively in the intermediate store without active
DECODING SINGLE BLOCK signal, but which were not yet processed, can no longer be
stopped.
l A “decoding single block” can be influenced through the OVERSTORE function.

Program control MO1 Programmed stop

With the function activated, program processing is stopped at the blocks in which the
miscellaneous function MO1 is programmed.
Then STOP:PROGR.STOP MOO/M01 is indicated on the screen.
You restart processing via the NC START key. If the function is not active, miscellaneous
function MO1 is disregarded.

General remarks:
In this area the control can be adapted to the prevailing requirements without any considerable
project planning expenditure. By way of activation/deactivation of, say, tool change axes, the
corresponding machine data bits are influenced. The texts e.g. for axis names, cam names
etc. are stored in subroutine L4899. The standard texts offered can be changed by overwriting
the respective field and displayed in the corresponding menus.
In this manner the operator interface can be flexibly adapted to the press.

Note:
If subroutine L4899 is not available, no standard texts are offered. When texts are entered, the
PROGRAM NOT AVAILABLE window appears.
After the INSTALLATION data area has been selected with the corresponding softkey, the

3.6.3 Zero offset

Comments on the zero offsets

l Adjustable zero offset

In the part program called, you can activate via G54 through G57 one of the four
adjustable zero offsets.
The value of the adjustable zero offset for each axis results from the sum:
- rough offset (ZO) and
- fine offset (ZO FINE)

l Programmable zero offset

Via “G58” and “G59” you can program in the called part program an additional zero offset
for all existing axes. See details of zero offset programming in the NC PROGRAMMING
INSTRUCTIONS of SINUMERIK 805SM.
By selecting the ZERO OFFSETS, you can see the programmed zero offsets in a running
part program on the monitor screen.

Note:
The zero offset values programmed via G58 and/or G59 are deleted at the end of the
program (M02, M30).

l External zero offset

The external zero offset values (ZO EXTERNAL) are transferred by the machine-control
interface (PLC) to the numerical control (NC).
By selecting ZERO OFFSETS, these values as well can be displayed on the screen.

Notes:
- Only values for adjustable zero offsets (G54 through G57) can be entered into the
corresponding input fields.
- In the part program all zero offsets can be deselected blockwise via G53.

4 Data Interfaces

4.1 General remarks

SINUMERIK 805SM-P provides two interfaces for the data transfer:

l Interface 1 (RS232/20mA) is variable with regard to the connection options of the various
devices.
l Interface 2 (RS232) is, as a rule, permanently assigned to a specific device.

Interface 2 is operational only if adequately

supplemented.

Notes:
l Interface 2 can also be operated with slipped-on RS 422 adapter.
l The parameters (interface properties) for interface 1 and 2 can be set in plain text in the
PARAMETER menu. The parameters are internally stored under the setup data type and
read out at the data output.
l The setup data for interface 1 and 2 are described in the START-UP INSTRUCTIONS
manual.
l The interface parameters for the various peripherals are listed in the INTERFACE
DESCRIPTION, PART 2 - TERMINAL CONDITIONS manual.

The following data types can be read in and out via interfaces:

4.2 Data read-in via RS232 interface

After actuation of the READ-IN START softkey, the control is

ready for receiving data. On the screen appears the DATA
TRANSFER ACTIVE display.
The type of data coming from the transmitter (punched tape reader, programming device,...) is
marked with its header identification.
During the read-in the data type is indicated (e.g. TEAl).

With the STOP softkey you can interrupt the data input any
time. Renewed actuation of the READ-IN START continues
the data input.

Please bear in mind:

Notes:
During input via punched tape the input data are checked for simple errors.
All characters of a punched tape code have a common identifier.

l IS0 code always features an even number of holes.

l EIA code has always an odd number of holes.

The control automatically recognizes the correct code at the first “%“(lSO) or “EOR” (EIA)
reading.
The criterium “even number of holes” or “odd number of holes” is used for a character parity
check as from the second character of the program.
A further check in the form of complete program comparison is carried out on repeated read-in
of a program already existing in the program memory.
When an error is identified, the read-in process is stopped and the error is displayed on the
screen.

4.4 Mass storage

4.4 Mass storage

4.4.1 General remarks
A floppy disk drive (DG-SM) for mass storage can be connected to the 1st or 2nd serial inter-
face of the SINUMERIK 805SM. The disk drive serves as a mass storage for data and is con-
trolled via the OPERATING THE MASS STORAGE menu and the operator keyboard. Data are
NC subroutines, NC/PLC machine data, global R parameters, R parameters channel l/2 and
setting data. The following functions can be carried out:
READ-OUT Transfers data from the control to the disk drive.
READ-IN Transfers data from the disk drive to the control.
DELETE Deletes data on the floppy disk.
DIRECTORY Displays the directory of the floppy disk.
FORMAT Formats a floppy disk.

Note:
l The data read out via the mass storage can also be read in again via the mass storage
(the read-in via other equipment like programmers, PCs, .. . is not guaranteed).
l You can enable or disable the DELETE and FORMAT functions for the operator.

Upon execution of the DIRECTORY function, the version of the disk drive, the free memory
space on the floppy disk in kbyte and the storage capacity of the floppy disk in kbyte is
displayed in the 1st line of the contents,
e.g. as follows:

This chapter describes the scope of functions of the disk drive from version DG-SM 2.0
onwards. Disk drives supplied earlier have a limited scope of functions.
The data or functions are transferred or carried out via the saved procedure 3964R (see also
functions manual COMMUNICATION, SINUMERIK 805SM). The operating mode 3964R of the
disk drive must be selected,
Furthermore, the operating modes RECEIVE and SEND can be selected with the DG-SM. The
RECEIVE operating mode stores all data which are read out by the SINUMERIK 805SM via the
corresponding interface into the SETUP805DAT file. In the SEND operating mode, the con-
tents of this file can be transferred from the disk drive to the control. By using the RECEIVE
and SEND operating modes, it is possible to save all data required for a complete commis-
sioning of the SINUMERIK 805SM or to transfer these data to the control again.

4.4.6 Operating modes of the DG-SM

The DG-SM can be put into the following operating modes:
. 3964R
. RECEIVE
l SEND

Operating mode 3964R

In this operating mode the functions READ-OUT, READ-IN, DELETE, DIRECTORY and
FORMAT can be carried out via the menu OPERATING THE MASS STORAGE.

Note:
In the menu PARAMETER RS232 COMPUTER LINK INTERFACE 1 or INTERFACE 2, the
function COMPUTER LINK must be activated before (see also the chapter entitled
COMMISSIONING OF DG-SM).

Operating mode RECEIVE

This operating mode is used to save data, e.g. the NC and PLC machine data, PLC modules,
setting data, NC subroutines, R parameters channel l/2, global R parameters etc. The data to
be saved are selected in the DATA OUTPUT menu, By actuating the READ-OUT START
softkey, the transfer is started. The DG-SM stores all data transferred in the open
SETUP805DAT file and closes the file when changing over to another operating mode.

Note:
l The SETUP805DAT file is overwritten when another data backup is carried out.
l In the menu PARAMETER RS232 COMPUTER LINK INTERFACE 1 or INTERFACE 2, the
interface for the DG-SM must be disconnected before (see also the chapter entitled
COMMISSIONING OF DG-SM).

Operating mode SEND

In this operating mode, the contents of the SETUP805.DAT file is transferred from the diskette
to the control.

Note:
In the menu PARAMETER RS232 COMPUTER LINK INTERFACE 1 or INTERFACE 2, the
COMPUTER LINK function must be switched off before (see also the chapter entitled

4.4.7 Data backup and commissioning with the DG-SM

4.4.7 Data backup and commissioning with the DG-SM

After the installation has been commissioned, a complete data backup at the control must be
carried out. This can be done e.g. with the disk drive DG-SM in the operating mode RECEIVE.
Using the stored data the installation can be put into operation again, e.g. after servicing, with
the DG-SM in the operating mode SEND. The procedures for data backup and commissioning
are described in the following chapters.

Note:
Data backup and commissioning is carried out in the operating mode 3964R.

4.4.7.1 Data backup with the DG-SM in the operating mode RECEIVE
Prerequisites:
l The commissioning of the installation has been finished.
l The disk drive is connected to the power supply and the cable between DG-SM and
control is connected to interface 1 or 2 (option SECOND RS232 INTERFACE).
l Two formatted floppy disks (3,5” / MS-DOS format) are available.
l The operating mode 3964R of the disk drive is selected and the COMPUTER LINK
function in the menu PARAMETER RS232 COMPUTER LINK INTERFACE 1 or
INTERFACE 2 is switched off.
l The interface parameters for the interface to which the DG-SM is connected are set as
follows (if necessary note down the settings before changing the parameters and special
functions).

END OF BLOCK USING CR LF

DATA OUTPUT IN EIA-CODE
STOP USING END OFTEXT (E-W)
EVALUATE DSR-SIGNAL
HEADERAND END
PROGRAM FROM SYSTEM 318
REORGANISATION USING INTERFACE

Note:
The sequence of operations for changing parameters and special functions is described in
the chapter entitled DATA READ-OUT VIA RS232 INTERFACE.

Considering commissioning with the backed-up data, it seems appropriate to distribute the data
backup on two floppy disks.

Floppy disk 1: NC and PLC machine data, PLC modules and setting data.
Floppy disk 2: NC subroutines, global R parameters, R parameters channel 1 and channel 2.

Press data

The battery voltage is checked cyclically with the control switched on. If the voltage is lower
than 2.7 V, NC alarm 1 (battery fault) is indicated on the screen.

Note:
The battery may only be replaced with the control switched on.
In central controllers of the 230 V version the battery (batteries) is (are) fitted at the bottom
right and in the 24 V version in the power supply unit proper.
Replacement of the battery and the battery modules as well as the batteries are described
in the manual START-UP INSTRUCTIONS and INTERFACE DESCRIPTION PART 2:
ELECTRICAL OPERATING CONDITIONS.
The provisions on waste disposal must be complied with as far as disposal of run-down
batteries are concerned.

The image on the screen may oscillate if the display unit is exposed to electromagnetic fields.
Equipment generating electromagnetic fields such as transformers, fans, electromagnetic
switches, AC carrying cables and the like, must be located more than 300 mm away from the
display unit.

5.4 Cleaning
The front side of the monitor and the surface of the keyboard can be cleaned. For this
common rinsing agents used in dish-washers or the industrial “Spezial Swipe” detergent
should be employed in the case of unproblematic dirt. These detergents also dissolve graphite-
containing dirt particles.
Detergents containing one or several of the ingredients mentioned below may be used on a
short-time basis:
l Diluted mineral acids
l Bases
. Alcohol
l Organic hydrocarbons
l Dissolved detergents
l Fats and oils

12.91 6 Monitoring

6 Monitoring

In the controller monitoring systems are continuously active which detect malfunctions in the
NC, the programmable logic control and the machine so early that damage to the work piece,
the tool and the machine can be largely excluded.
In case of trouble, the machining process is first interrupted and the drives are stopped, the
cause for the malfunctions is stored and displayed as alarm. At the same time the PLC is
informed via an interface signal that an NC alarm is active.
Monitoring systems exist for following areas:
Read-in
Format
Servo loop cable
Displacement device and drive
Contour
Main drive
Enabling signal
Voltage
Microprocessor
Serial interface
Transfer between NC and PLC
State of back-up battery
Executive program memory
Application program memory

Furthermore, the user of the PLC has 64 PLC alarms and 64 PLC messages as well as 100
user cycle alarms at his disposal. The corresponding texts are transferred to the battery-
backed memory area of the controller via the RS232 interface.
