1.

Discuss the statement “product success may depend on the ease of use, not necessarily
power”.

A product may lie on how easily a user uses a product. It depends on the usability and capacity
of a system to give a condition for its users to perform the tasks safely, effectively and efficiently
while enjoying the product.

2. Explain what skills are involved in human computer interaction.

The skills that are involved in human computer interaction, I must say are programming skills,
development of critical thinking skills and developing, creating and designing a system software
with the use of computer technology. In human computer interaction, programming or coding
various programming languages to write commands, instructing a computer, application or
software programs about the actions it must perform and how can be develop. It further
develops and improve the critical thinking skills of a person through the analysis and evaluation
of an issue in order to form a possible outcome. It also develops the skills of creating and
designing a system with the use of computer technology by writing software that will runs the
computers. The skills of integrating software and hardware that will operates data processing.

3. Explain the main concerns of human computer interaction.

Human Computer Interaction has 4 main concerns, the user, the tasks, tools an interface and
the content. These 4 main concerns are interrelated to each other. HCI requires the evaluation
of obtained observations while the user performs certain tasks and habits of the user together.
These data are used in the development process of interactive systems.

4. Why human computer interaction is important in software design?

Human Computer Interaction is important in software design because humans must have
knowledge of a program in order to make it function correctly. HCI is the foundation of the
digital world. Everything that we build must ultimately interact with a human at some point. As
machines get more complex, the nature of the interaction must be ever more understood,
otherwise we risk losing efficiency and capability because of the human computer bottleneck.
5. Explain usability principles with examples.

The usability principles of HCI are effectiveness, efficiency, engagement, error tolerance and
ease of learning.

Examples:
a. Effectiveness- Supports the user in completing actions accurately. A user can produce a
result that is being wanted.
b. Efficiency- Users can perform tasks quickly through the easiest process. Users can produce a
desired result without waste of time and energy.
c. Engagement- Users find it pleasant to use and appropriate for its topic
d. Error tolerance- It supports a range of users actions and only shows an error in genuine
erroneous situations. One can achieve it by finding out the number, type and severity of
common errors users make, as well as how easily users can recover from this error.
e. Ease of learning- New users can accomplish goals easily and even more easily on future
visits.
