1. What is Safety?
Safety is a state where risk has been eliminated or reduced to an except able level.
OR
It is a condition which gives you freedom from hazard, risk, accident which may cause injury,
damage and loss to material or property damage and even death.
2. What is accident?
An Accident is defined as unplanned event that result in personal injury or property damage.
Example: - A car crash.
3. What is Incident?
An incident is defined as an unplanned event that does not result in injury but may result in
property damage.
Example: - A bank robbery.
4. Near miss?
Any form of incident which could result in injury or loss but does not.
5. What is hazard?
Anything that has potential to cause harm.
6. What is risk?
Chance of harm from hazard.
7. What is Environment?
Surroundings in which an organization operates, including air, water, land, natural resources, flora,
fauna, Humans, and their interactions. (ISO 14001:2004)
8. What are Environmental Aspects?
Element of an organization’s activities or products or services that can interact with the
environment. (ISO 14001:2004)
Example: Engine smoke coming out of a truck where truck is being used for transporting business
goods of an organization.
9. What are Environmental Impacts?
Any change to the environment, whether adverse or beneficial, wholly, or partially, resulting from
an organization’s environmental aspect. (ISO14001:2004)
Example: The smoke coming out of truck may cause increase of CO2 levels and damaging
environment.

A written document in which company acknowledged that its company social and legal obligation
to provide a safe and health working environment to all his employees.
