4 Takeaways from “Pursuing Happiness and a Meaningful Life” MIT Sloan’s Robert C. Pozen and Susan Neal teach a course on building happiness in the classroom, the meeting room, and beyond. 1. Be kind to others, and manage yourself. Research shows that if you think about and do things for others, you'll have a higher level of life satisfaction. You need to get in touch with your emotional responses fo situations so that you can modify them as necessary. 2. Strengthen your mental and physical well-being through mindfulness and gratitude. Being in the moment contributes to happiness. Practicing this mindfulness is helpful, especially when engaging with coworkers. Bring a sense of gratitude fo your daily life as well — try writing down what you’re thankful for or recognizing when you feel appreciation for something. 3. Bolster friendships and relationships Humans are social creatures, and they need close relationships to have a higher level of happiness and self-satisfaction. 4. Build resilience and learn how to rebound from failure Forgiveness — of yourself and others — is also part of pursuing happiness. Don’t hold grudges. Learn from your own failures, be resilient, and bounce back.
