Dear Sarah Johnson,

Business Requirements:
I am delighted to write back to you regarding my requisitions for the part of the project as a

network administrator. I made a list of all the requirements for upgrading our current network

infrastructure to support our in-house system once it is deployed in the cloud. The first requirement is

four network server cabinet closures. A durable and reliable one costs $193, so the total cost is $772.

These provide anchorage to our network switches as well as encasing them to shield them from dust for

longer durability. The other requirement is 12 desktop switches. They are what provide the actual aspect

of the expansion. They will provide more ports where ethernet cables can be plugged into to facilitate

more computers and offices with internet access. The other requirement is 8 WIFI routers. The routers

will be used to provide more points of internet connectivity. They all go for a total cost of $3594. 5G

Cellular routers will also be required. These are portable wireless routers meant to relay internet to users.

Four of them will be required for a total cost of $3596. The other requirement is 1500 meters of Ethernet

cable. These will cost a total of $9000. They will connect desktop computers to internet access points

such as routers and switches. They will facilitate physical network connection to all the devices in the

network. The other requirement is ethernet cable terminators. Two hundred of them will be required for

a total cost of 1400. They will be used for terminating the ethernet cables for plugging into networking

devices. Firewall routers will be required for implementing network security. Five of them will be

required for a total cost of $1195. With this, the network will be guarded against any attacks. Due to

additional office units, ten additional computers will be required for use in each of the new offices.

How I created an estimate for each of the resources have listed in the attached Excel spreadsheet:
Estimates were given under a particular procedure for all the resources discussed above. For the

network cabinet closures, first, I investigated how many new switches would be required. Then I

decided that each closure should host 3 of them. Since the new switches required will be 12, I estimated

that 4 cabinet closures would be enough. I looked for the pricing online from various ecommerce

platforms that sell electronic products. For the desktop switches, first, I looked for the additional points

of network expansion that would be required. Then I made an approximation of how many new switches

can be used to achieve this. For the WIFI routers, first, I determined how many additional switches were

required, then I decided that for each of the two switches, one router would be required, and this is how I

ended up with an estimation of 6 routers. I looked for the pricing from top ecommerce vendors that

supply the product. For the 5G cellular routers, first I checked for the number of new hotspot points that

were going to be required, then I decided that for each of them, one cellular router was required, and this

is how I ended up with 4 of them. Similarly, the pricing was looked from the same ecommerce as for

routers. For the cat8 ethernet cable, first, I estimated the cable length required to expand the network and

connect new offices, then I added another 300 units to ensure it was sufficient. This is how I ended up

with 1500 meters of the cable. The pricing was looked for from various ecommerce websites. For the

ethernet terminators, first, I made a rough estimation of all the terminations that may be done, then I

2
decided these are the number of terminators that will be required. Similar websites as those of the other

devices were reviewed for pricing. For firewall routers, first, I decided that the firewall security needs to

be implemented at the default gateway, then I decided that since it is only one, one firewall will be

required. The pricing was looked for in the various ecommerce vendor websites. For the computers,

first, I counted the number of new office units that were going to be established, then I decided that one

computer was to be installed for each of them. The pricing was looked for from various websites.

Process Used:

The cost identification process for each resource was done by comparing the prices listed on

various electronic supplier websites. With this, it was evident that different websites showed different

prices for the same prices. However, apart from pricing, one thing more was considered: the company's

reputation. After considering the various sites, it happened that Amazon had fair deals. Apart from the

fair deals, the company has a good reputation for customer satisfaction.
