This chapter deals with the results and discussion of the
findings of the study entitled “Market Survey on Catch
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT Abundance of Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) and the Fishing

A modified single structured questionnaire was used in
the study. The questionnaire focuses on years/months engaged
in fishing, catch effort, source of species caught, and fishing gear AGE
used by the respondents.
The respondent’s age distribution was analyzed and
presented in bar graph. There are 20% for 20-30 of the total

above in every fishing. In the fishing gear used, the two most
commonly used by the respondents in both municipalities are
pukot and bubo. The study provides evidences that local fish
vendors that are engaged in fishing in the selected market of
Kabacan and Midsayap did not differ in terms of fishing gear
used and the volume of caught common carp.
From the findings of the study, a follow up study is
recommended with a larger sample size for a wider comparison
and accurate data.
