The Miracle Worker

(Helen Keller Story)

Hellen Keller was a young girl that is deaf and

blind. The only senses she has are the
senses of touch, smell, and taste. Helen was
a very stubborn girl and always giving
tantrums when she cannot get what she
wanted. Helen was a smart kid but very
stubborn because she always thinks that she
has a parents that she could always run into,
protect her, give everything what she wants,
and spoiled her, but Helen being so stubborn
doesn’t make me get angry towards her,
instead I feel pity to her with a question in my
mind what if I would be put in Helens shoe
then it will be very hard and frustrating to me
so as Helen. At the very beginning Helen was
very hard headed but when Ms. Sullivan
came all things changes, she learned so many things specially when it comes to be
obedient. When Helen started to learn things I can see in her face how much she is so
happy and very eager to learn more, so as her parents and her Teacher Ms. Sullivan. If
I would be put in Helen situation then I cannot imagine my life living in this world happily
given the thought that I cannot see and hear then I think my life would be very miserable
that’s why I admire Helen so much because at a young age she still manage to play and
smile. What I admire the most in Helens life is that she has a loving and caring parents
that will always thought of her situation and what would be good to her.

When Ms. Sullivan came and taught Helen learn sign language I can see in her how
much she wanted Helen to learn and know what kind of the world she’s into. Ms.
Sullivan is one of a kind teacher, she has a lot of patience handling a very hard headed
child. I love how Ms. Sullivan is eager to teach Helen learn things for her to express
what she wants and needs. Ms. Sullivan doesn’t teach Helen just because Helens
parents hired her but it is also because she feel pity to the child and understand her
situation, she also doesn’t teach Helen as a teacher but as a person who experience
that kind of situation that cannot see because as I know and watch Ms. Sullivan was
also a student before. No matter how hard is Helen to teach because she was always
throwing things and giving tantrums Ms. Sullivan doesn’t give up teaching Helen until
she learns everything and as soon as she manage to teach Helen and Helen started to
learn the things she teach I can see how much she is so happy that it even made her
cry, and as I watch that scene I can also feel fulfilment that finally Helen already know
how to use sign language. Ms. Sullivan did everything for Helen even though it’s testing
her patience and dignity as a teacher she still doesn’t give up and manage to do her
homework which is to teach Helen use sign language.

As a future teacher, If ever I can encounter a child who has an impairment then for sure
Ms. Sullivan would be my greatest and biggest model. Even though it would mean to
drain my patience to teach a stubborn child and had an impairment I will still do
anything, everything for that child just for her to learn because I know it is very hard to
them to be in that kind of situation. One thing that I’ve learned in Ms. Sullivan and she
had been proven is that “Patience is the key to success” even though how hard it is that
you have been doing if you have lots of patience then surely you’ll succeed in of what
you are doing.
