LESSON 16

TOPIC : READING AND WRITING SKILLS ; TEXT :

FASHION CYCLES

The word fashion has always been a synonym of power and beauty in the world. For centuries,
individuals or societies have used clothes and other body adornments as a form of non-verbal
communication to indicate occupation ,rank, gender , sexual availability ,locality, class, wealth and
group affiliation. Fashion is a form of free speech. It not only embraces clothing, but also accessories,
jewelry , hairstyle and body art. What we wear, how and when we wear it, provides others with a
quick understanding of our social situation.
Fashion is constantly changing. The young have not always been dominant in fashion history. Until
the Victorian Era, a fashion look took 10 to 15 years to reach some country areas. Once railways
improved mass communication between countries and cities, the cycle of fashion speeded up so fast,
that by the Edwardian Era, in 1901,fashion was moving in a yearly cycle. Emancipation of women and
the contribution of all classes of women to the 1914-1918 war enabled and encouraged women to adopt
more practical clothing and to try out new style in fashion, hairs, and beauty.
Today, fashion and beauty can be affordable for everyone. There is always a range of products that
provides quality, beauty and make-up and accessory products at prices that many can afford. fashion
is moving so fast that it now moves in a seasonal cycle, making trends hot for a short period of time.

LESSON 14
TOPIC: GRAMMAR THE FUTURE PRESENT USE
The future is the period of time that will come after the present, or the things that will
happen then. We use will and shall in affirmatives and negatives; will=will not or won`t
and shall=shall not .
Therefore you may use future in planning what your program will be like for the
forthcoming weekend or the next moments; just mention the days of the week or
months or year or even decades ,e.g.: On Friday afternoon I will go to the market. This
is your plan for Friday what you are going to do on that day.
The easiest way to talk about the future in English is to use will in front of the verb, as
many people use in their daily speech e g:
1. I will go to school tomorrow morning with my two best friends.
2. Mary will cook dinner tonight for family helping our mother.
