Equality Must Be in ALL

Did you ever wondered, how it feels to be treated the same way? To be
treated with respect, even though you’re just a normal person? Like you and I are
the same. Yes, you’re rich and I’m poor, and so what? Can’t I get respect? It would
be great, isn’t it? A place where we can live equally, where we can share the same
justice, where we can live in peace. But you know what? It’s not really impossible
to achieve that. The only problem we have here is what we call social inequality.
Social Inequality is the state of unequal distribution of opportunity, goods,
respect, etc. depending on one’s status. And take note that it’s not just your status
that can affect how people treat you. It can be because of your educational
attainment. Sometimes or rather always, people show more reverence or more
respect in those people that have masteral degree. For instance, there’s a virus
outbreak and there’s only limited antidote. Those people who have masteral
degree gets prioritize more than those people that can’t afford education. And it’s
not just about status and educational attainment, why people can’t be treated
equally. There is racism, gender bias, etc. One more thing… Social inequality
happens every single time because of this (ok sign). It’s just unfair to think that I
can be view as someone that don’t deserve kindness because I or we don’t have
money like they do. That, when they are interacting with them, they are always
smiling, nice, and kind but when they face you, they are arrogant and grumpy. Is
that how Filipino culture are turning right now? We Filipino’s are known for being
kind. “Being kind?” Being kind to those have money? Is that how it should be? Am
I supposed to get used to it? No! We must keep what our ancestors teach us. And
that is to respect everyone equally.
So, as a normal citizen of the Republic of the Philippines. I, Altea Simplicio,
encouraging all of you that we can still make this social inequality as history. Let’s
not allow our future generations to suffer the same way we did and we still do.
Let’s make the triangle of class be a circle, wherein there’s no one in top and
there’s no one in bottom…no one in right and left side. We as a student, as a
youth, as a pag-asa ng bayan must take the first step. Thank you.
