THE HUMAN DEVELOPMENT INDEX
What is Human Development Index (HDI)? It was created to better measure
development

The HDI has a value between 0 and 1. The higher the number the greater the level of
development.
HDI THREE ELEMENTS:

• Living Standards : GNI pet capita

• Health: the life expectancy or average age which people live to
• Education: the average number of years of schooling children receive
ADVANTAGES/ DISADVANTAGES
Advantages:
Easy to understand (0-1 scale)
Relatively accurate
Disadvantages
Not all country shows data
It does not show aid from developed countries
