Deontology Ethical Issue

Deontology determines right or wrong depending on the rules established by a specific group of society
(government, religion, etc). One of the ethical issues that Deontology faces is religious belief. For
example, Muslims are allowed to have multiple wives, therefore, it is right for them to have multiple
wives. Christianity, on the other hand, strongly condemns having multiple wives, therefore, it is wrong to
Christians to have multiple wives. Also, in Hinduism, they are not allowed to eat beef, therefore it is
wrong for them to eat beef.

Sexual Ethics Ethical Issue

Sexual Ethics investigates the ethical implications of sexuality and sexual activity. Mostly, the ethical
issues faced in sexual ethics are homosexuality, rape, sexual harassment, etc. As for St. Aquinas, sex is
only a good act if the telos or end leads to procreation. But if it is only for pleasure, and has no specific
goal for its end, then it is considered as morally wrong. For instance, in today’s generation, non-marital
procreation is increasing, and mostly, it is done by teenagers.

Social Ethics Ethical Issue

Social Ethics focuses on what society should do and how it should behave in general. Its essence is to
behave properly in the environment we live in. For instance, the issues mostly faced in social ethics are
discrimination and racism. In America, these issues are still present and the people who are affected by
these are Black American, Asian, and Hispanic. Almost half of Americans (46%) believe that Black people
experience "a lot" of prejudice. Three out of ten Americans say that Asian and Hispanic persons
experience a lot of prejudice (Daniller, 2021). These discriminations mostly occur in the workplace and
even in school. As a result, spread of hatred became inevitable and it can lead to killing each other due
to this hatred.

REFLECTION

Deontology

As what is said earlier, deontology is considered morally right if it performs duty and principle of
responsibility in a certain society. Having this said, it only shows how diverse people are by only looking
at religions and their rules and obligations. For me, it is a beautiful thing to embody diversity as these are
what makes us unique.

Sexual Ethics

Nowadays, it is inevitable that pre-marital sex can happen. This generation is more aware compared to
previous generations due to the growth of technology. Teenagers are more vocal and use their freedom
of speech to share their ideas and beliefs and influence other people. However, due to these unethical
beliefs of having sex before marriage can lead to major problems such as increased rate of teenage
pregnancy and abortion.

Social Ethics

It is sad to think that discrimination and racism has become more inevitable nowadays compared to
previous generations. Others can say that it is more brutal in the past years, but as for what I observed,
people really never learned from history and keep repeating the same mistake. It became worse than it
was before, even if there are laws and restrictions against it.
