The work of preparing Intemational Standards is normally caried out through ISO Technical committees. Each membar aody Interested in @ subject for which a technical committee has been ‘ctablished has tho right o be represented on that committe, Internstionsl organizations, govammental and on-goveramental, in Esisen with 10, iso take part in the work. ISO collaverates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of eleclrotechnical standarcization, International Standards are drafted in accordance withthe rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2 ‘The main task of technical committees fe to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards adopted by the technical commillees are circulatad to the memter bodies for voling. Publication as an Inernational Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting ¢ vete, [Attention is drawn to the possiality thet some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights, ISO shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights, 180 -8528~" was prepared by Technical Gommittee ISO/TC 70, Intamal combustion engines, This second edition cancels and replaces the first edifon (ISO 8528-1:1995}, which has bean technically revived. 180 8628 consists of the folowing parts, under the general file Reciprocating tnferaal combustion engine sven alternating current generating sets “Park: Application, ratings and perfomance — Pant 2; Engines = Part 3: Altemating curent generators far generating sets — Part 4: Convoigesr end switchgear — Part §: Genarating sets Past 8: Test methods — Part 7: Technical declarations for specification and cesign -~ Part 8: Requirements and tests for low-power generating sets ~ Part 9: Measurement and oveluation of mechanics! vibrations —~ Part 10: Measurement of eirbome noise ty the enveloping surface mathext Part 11: Rotary uninterruptible power systems — Performance requirements and iest methodist) ——_ Part 12: Emergency powar supply io safety sorvicos +) Pan 11 wil be publaned ac ISoMeG Benze-11 (0150 2005s cgesvosowed x INTERNATIONAL STANDARD 180 8526+ Dacumente Aulenza ISOMECIPODOSANIS2 ORY ia Feta, ta :2005(E) Prakids sepa Reciprocating internal combustion engine driven alternating current generating sets — Part 1: Application, ratings and performance 1 Scope “This part of ISO 8928 defines varicus classifcations for the pplication, rating end performance of generating sels consisting of @ Reciprocating Inlermal Combustion (RIC) engine, Aliernating Current (a.c.) generator and any associated controlgear, switchgear and auxiliary equipment It applies to a.c. generating sets driven by RIG engines for land and marine use, excluding generating sels ised on aerator to prapal land vehicles and Iecometives. For some specific applications (eg. essenlial hospital supplies, high-rise buildings) supplementary requiremonts may be necessary. The provisions of this part of !SO 8528 chculd be regarded as the basis fer establishing any suoplementary requirements For other recipraceting-type prime mavers (e.g. sewage-gas engines, steam engines), the provisions of this pert of [80 8528 should be used as a basis for establishing these requirements. ‘Genarating sets moating the requiramonts of this Intomational Standard are usad to gonerate oloctrical power or continuous, peak-losd and standby applications. The classifications laid down in this part of ISO 8628 are Infendes te heip understanding between manufacturer and customer. 2 Normative references ‘The following referenced documents are indisparsable for the epplication af thie decument.
