a.

Identify a game that requires you to use strategy to win.

- Basketball

b. What are the objectives of the game?

- Basketball games are mostly about scoring points by placing the ball in the hoop (basket) and
keeping the other team from doing the same. The referee throws the ball high up in the middle
of the court to begin a basketball game, with one player from each team vying for possession.

c. What are the basic guidelines/rules/limitations of the game?

 A game of basketball is played with two teams of 5 players on the court and with 1 to 7
other players on the bench.
 A maximum of 12 named players in a team is allowed (depending on the competition).
 The game starts with a jump ball in the centre of the court, with two opponents facing
the direction of the opposition's goal.
 The ball is thrown into the air by the referee and the two opponents jump to tap the ball
into play.
 After an opponent scores, the opposition must pass the basketball in from behind the
baseline.
 Players can only move the basketball around the court by dribbling or passing.
 The winner of the game is the team who scores the most points in their basket at the
end of game time.

d. Describe the "environment" of the game. What are the challenges in the game that are faced
by the players? Describe how other players compete with one another.

- There are many variants of basketball, some play indoors and some outdoors, some play on
larger grounds, and some teams have more players. We can play the fun game on any flat
surface but FIBA, the organizing body has laid down some guidelines for a basketball court.

e. In the game, what are the available resources that players can use to overcome the
challenges?

Playing Time

Solution:

While this can be extremely frustrating for players and parents, a lack of playing time can be a
great teaching tool for kids to learn how to EARN what they get rather than expect just to be
GIVEN things.
Individual Performance

Solution:

Ultimately, if a player isn’t happy with his or her performance then they need to work harder to
get better.

Coach

Solution:

If the player deserves to play, they will play, and most coaches, will truly attempt to put their
players in the best position to succeed. Again, before blaming the coach, help a young player
figure out how to maximize his or her potential by doing what the coach wants and team
needs.

Teammates

Solution:

But as an obstacle to overcome, young players being frustrated by a teammate or teammates is

another great chance to teach a lesson of how to get along with people you might not exactly
like. Just like in the real world, you might not like all of your co-workers, but you still need to get
along with them in order to work and complete required goals. Therefore, we can teach a
young player that lesson through dealing with teammate situations in a positive manner.

f. As players, what are the things that you do to win the game? (What is your strategy to win the
game?)

- The things that we do to win the game is teamwork, proper training, strength
conditioning and also study or read the strategy of your opponent specially before the
game. You can use a unique type of game play and always focus on the game to reflect
and read the possible game play of your opponent, this strategy can lead to winning the
game.
