UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Tuition Fees Per Annum (applicable for Academic Year 2023/2024)
1. The cohort-based fee system was introduced for the new undergraduate intake of all
College/Faculties/Schools from AY2008/09. Under this fee system, tuition fees for an intake cohort of
students will be based on the fees for that cohort throughout the student’s entire candidature. While fees
continue to be reviewed annually and adjustments made as and when necessary with each new cohort of
students, each new cohort will know the exact amount of tuition fees they have to pay per year throughout
their entire candidature. This enables students to plan better for the financing of their undergraduate
studies.
2. The per annum fee amount, covering Semesters 1 and 2 of an Academic Year (AY), is payable in two
equal instalments at the start of each semester. Semestral fees are payable as long as a student’s
candidature remains active.
Students who read modules in the Special Term will pay a per-module fee amount. Students who register
for module(s) in the Special Term immediately following the expiry of their normal candidature period will
continue to pay subsidised fees on a per module basis. However, for the Special Terms beyond the
normal candidature period, the Special Term fees payable will be the full non-subsidised semestral fees
pro-rated based on the number of MCs read. The related policy on Tuition Fee beyond Normal
Candidature can be found here.
3. Students who are not in receipt of the Tuition Grant will have to pay the non-subsidised fee amounts as
quoted here (which are inclusive of the prevailing GST). For Singapore Citizens who are paying the non-
subsidised fee amount, the 1% GST increment will be subsidized by the National University of Singapore
(NUS) for 2023. The prevailing GST is 8% with effect from 1st January 2023. From 1st January 2024, the
GST rate will increase to 9%.
4. For the time being, College/Faculties/Schools that are not on a modular curriculum structure (esp.
Medicine and Dentistry) do not offer Special Term modules.
6. With effect from 1st July 2021, the Department of Real Estate, which was previously under School of Design
and Environment has moved to NUS Business School. The tuition fees charged remains the same for new
and existing cohort of students under Department of Real Estate. The Department of Building has also
been renamed as Department of the Built Environment.
7. With effect from 1st January 2022, the School of Design and Environment and Faculty of Engineering have
merged and become the College of Design and Engineering.
