Today, we, as a Nestlé company reap the results of one our biggest mistakes that we have

made. It is astounding how well we comprehend that our poor plan has resulted in such
negative effects. We completely and utterly realize what we have done, so we get ourselves
accountable for the results. We want to apologize for all of those health problems that
happened because our fault. We regret that so many people have suffered because of us.

Our core mistake was that we have allowed excess iodine levels into some of the milk
powder it sells for infants and young children in China. We regret the error in several Nestle
milk-based powder products' iodine concentration, which deviated from the National
Standard. While there is no safety or health issue, we recognize that this deviation has caused
some concerns amongst consumers and the public at large.

We understand that our actions have been irresponsible and we take full responsibility for the
damage caused. Our commitment to sustainability has been called into question, and we
acknowledge our failures in this regard.

Moving forward, we are taking immediate action to rectify the situation and prevent future
incidents from occurring. This includes a comprehensive review of our supply chain and
practices to ensure that they comply with environmental and social standards.

We understand that rebuilding trust with our stakeholders will take time and effort. However,
we are fully committed to regaining that trust through transparency, integrity, and
accountability. We will share updates on our progress regularly and work closely with our
communities to create a positive impact.

Once again, we apologize for the harm caused and appreciate your continued support as we
make amends. And especially we bring our deep condolences to those families who were hurt
the most because of our fault. We assure that from this moment we will implement better
strategies that will benefit our customers in the first place.

Sincerely, the CEO of Nestlé, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe
