Assignment 2

End Assessment (50% weighted total)

Q1) Personal Technology Goals

At the beginning of the course you were required to set Personal Technology Goals. These were to act as a
guide to your aspirations as a technology driven educator. Make a screenshot of your personal technology
goals as you listed them in your personal journal on Blackboard. Briefly explain each of these goals and
personally reflect on the extent to which you have endeavored to accomplish them throughout the course.
What are the main challenges that you encountered in your quest to accomplish these goals and how did you
overcome them?. You can use evidence from your journal and discussion forum posts to support your answer.
A balanced review fully supported by academic literature will earn you more marks. [ 25 Marks ]

Q2) Personalized learning

Personalized Learning is the process of teaching at the individual’s level of ability, rather than taking a
standardized approach to instruction. It is a method of creating multiple paths so that learners with varying
abilities experience equally appropriate ways to absorb, use, develop, and present concepts as a part of the
learning process.
The personalized approach also allows learners to take greater responsibility and ownership for their learning,
and provides opportunities for individuals to develop skills in other areas that are not necessarily comfortable
for them.
You need to teach a group of young adults how to tell time using an analog clock. These learners were born
and raised in a rural area of the country and only know how to tell time by the sun. They have been hired by a
local company that deals with farm implements to repair equipment in their shop and they need to learn basic
living skills. How you would teach this concept using
a) personalized learning concepts [8 marks]
b) Educational Technology [ 9 marks]
c) Flipped classroom concept [8 Marks]

Q2) Courseware - Design & Authoring
As a lecturer at an institution of Higher Learning, you have been tasked to design and develop sample
teaching materials (i.e. Courseware) for an imaginary group of students. Using the template on page 4
of this assignment design your courseware in any subject of your choice. This would typically be based
on a single topic.
You are expected to
a) Complete your full courseware design by filling up some or all aspects of the Courseware Design
Template as may be relevant to the courseware you are designing.
b) Fully implement your design by
i) Creating a sample lesson
ii) Using any educational technology tool or tools (Powerpoint, Xerte Online Tools, Techsmith
Camtasia, Debut video capture software etc) of your choice create a full lesson prototype (i.e.
example lesson) that clearly shows you will cater for all the aspects of your design such teaching
and learning patterns, persona, context/scenario, content design (video, audio, text), navigation
design and visual design.
Your lesson should typically have a welcome page, clearly stated objectives and delivery modes,
sample assessments (done through Socrative – include a Socrative Class Room Name and
screenshot), class interactions (You may use Padlets – include a link to the padlet page and
screenshot), the actual learning content (text, video, audio where applicable) , lesson conclusion.
iii) Embed your lesson prototype developed in (ii) to your word document assignment script. Below
the embedded object, include the room name to your Socrative Room and Padlet link.

This courseware design and e-Learning resources will be judged in terms

of:

• Courseware Design & Delivery:

– A comprehensive courseware design as per the template – [ 20 marks ]

• Courseware and e-Learning Resources:

– Implementation of the Courseware Design Using tools learnt in this module or any relevant
tool.
[20 marks ]
• Evaluation and Reflection:
– Critical evaluation of proposed solution and future development
– Consideration of standards for interoperability, adaptability and accessibility
– Proposed methods for evaluating effectiveness of courseware/e-learning resources [10 Marks]
A review that’s balanced and fully supported by literature will earn you more marks.

Please Note that the due date of the assignment is 16th June of 2021 at 11:59pm and the submission
should be through TURNITIN

Students will be given summative feedback on their final submission as soon as possible and in any case
with plenty of time to submit for a supplementary exercise if needed. Those who have not passed will be
given one further supplementary assessment exercise for a capped pass mark of 50%. This will be a single
assessment based on a selection of elements drawn from the previous assessments.
