MODEL SERIAL NUMBER [Figure 1] Bobcat Company has made a design

change to the hydraulic filters and hydraulic filter caps
A770 B3BU11804 & Above of all M-series Bobcat loaders listed in this letter. In the
S450 B1E621419 & Above new filter design, the bypass valve has moved from the
B4J711106 & Above bottom of the filter cartridge to the cap. To prevent the
new filter being used with the old cap, the new filter has

a straight neck (item 1) [Figure 2].

The new design filters have an angled neck (item 1)
[Figure 3].
NOTE: To visually check whether the old (straight
neck) or new (angled neck) design filter is
used on a machine, the filter cap has to be
removed.
Bobcat Company will be phasing out the old design
filter. When the stock of the old design filters is
exhausted, the new design filter and cap need to be
ordered as they cannot be mixed and matched with the
old design.
Service Manuals and Operation & Maintenance
Manuals remain the same, parts manuals have been
updated.

Two sizes of filter are available:

• Small - used on 400s and 500s

• Large - used on 600s, 700s and 800s This letter is provided as technical information only
and does not alter warranty coverage.
The new design filter cartridge and cap can be used on
earlier production machines which have the old design
filter cartridge installed. The canister is the same, but
the cap and filter must be used together.

When replacing the filter on a machine:

• with the old design (straight neck) filter installed:

order the following filter service kit and cap. Both
need to be updated.

• with the new design filter installed: order the filter

service kit only. The cap can be reused.

The O-rings on the cap must be replaced each time the

filter is changed. The filter service kit includes both O-
rings to be installed on the cap. When ordering a new
cap, the O-rings are already installed.
