The Bermuda Triangle 1

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is an urban legend focused on a loosely
defined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean where more than 50 ships and 20
airplanes are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The vertices of the triangle
area are located at Florida, Bermuda and Puerto Rico.

There are many reports of unexplained occurrences in the mid-19 th century. Some ships that were
passing by the Bermuda Triangle had discovered completely abandoned for no apparent reason;
others transmitted no distress signal and were never seen or heard from again. For an example, on
August 27, 1840, a French ship named Rosalie was discovered to be fully abandoned. In addition,
aircraft have been reported and then vanished. Rescue missions are said to have vanished when
flying in the Bermuda Triangle area. However, the mysterious part was that none wreckage has been
found and some of the theories advanced to explain the repeated mysteries have been fanciful. On
December 5, 1945, a group of 5 Flight 19 bombers disappeared over the Bermuda triangle. Later the
same day, an American patrol bomber flying boat lost 13 airmen while searching for the Flight 19.

There are theories of supernatural causes for these disappearances. Some people have used a
number of supernatural concepts to explain the events that had happened. One explanation pins the
blame on leftover technology from the mythical lost continent of Atlantis while the other claims that
a parallel universe exists in the Bermuda Triangle region, causing a time warp that sucks the objects
around it into a parallel universe. Others even attribute the events of UFO. Another popular theory is
that the missing vessels called “rogue waves” which are massive waves that can reach up 30 metres
and would be powerful enough to destroy all evidence of a ship or airplanes. The Bermuda Triangle is
located in the area of the Atlantic Ocean where storms from multiple directions can converge,
making rogue waves likely to occur.
