Public Participation:
x Superintendent Ron Cabrera: Stated Martha Gustafson, Principal of Walt Clark Middle School and
Colorado Association of School Executives Middle School Principal of the year, will be going to
Washington D.C. for the National Association of Secondary Principals conference and taking
student writings to our representatives in congress when she meets with them; Recognized the
Award of Excellence recipients; That the district received an application for the Red Rock
Academy charter school; and that Loveland Classical School opened on Sept. 6
x Public comments: Two parents proposed a pay-for-busing pilot for their Namaqua Elementary
students

The Board took the following action:
x Approved a consent agenda of items including:
o Personnel/extra duty coaching recommendations
o Approved gifts & donations
x Approved a real estate offer for the old Ferguson High School property

During the Discussion portion of the meeting, the board:
x Received and discussed the 2010-2011 ACT results and CSAP results and 2010-2011 Adequate
Yearly Progress determination
x Received and discussed an update on the proposed mill levy override
x Received and discussed an update on the Summer Food Program
x Reviewed the proposal for the Thompson Education Foundations fundraising drive to employees.

Coming up Stepping Up is available for download on the web site at www.thompsonschools.org and
airs on Comcast Cable Channel 14 September 10-18 at noon and 8 p.m. The show addresses
partnerships between schools and our community. Hosts for the show are Wes Fothergill, director of
Communication & Community Resources and Michael Jones, assistant superintendent of Human
Resources and School Support. This weeks show features the partnership between the Thompson
Education Association and Sarah Milner Elementary for student tutoring. Kid TV will return later in the
fall. Previous shows are available on demand from the district web site at www.thompsonschools.org
This meeting will be aired on Thursday at 3 p.m. and Friday at 7 p.m. on Comcast Cable Channel 14 or
streams on www.ThompsonSchools.org simultaneously. Board of education meetings are available on-
demand on the districts web site. The next Board of Education meeting is Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. in the board
room at 800 S. Taft Ave.
