If total costs are the only factor in the decision, which business model should the manufacturer utilize and
why?
A. The existing factory to end consumers model because the factory to regional warehouses model would
increase total costs by $100,000 annually.
B. The existing factory to end consumers model because the factory to regional warehouses model would
increase total costs by $175,000 annually.
C. The new factory to regional warehouses model because it would decrease total costs by $100,000 annually.*
D. The new factory to regional warehouses model because it would decrease total costs by $175,000 annually.

SCProTM Level One Exam Content
Learning Block 1: Supply Chain Concepts
In both the private and public sectors, interest in supply chain management has grown rapidly over the past two
decades. Leading organizations recognize the positive outcomes that can be achieved through effective supply chain
management, e.g., enhanced competitive strategy, increased market share, and greater shareholder value. These
organizations are taking steps to achieve a competitive advantage through supply chain management and need
skilled individuals who can design, execute, and manage their supply chains. For these individuals, skill development
begins with having a solid foundational knowledge of the supply chain management concepts and principles.
This learning block assesses knowledge of the following supply chain concepts:
 Essential components of a supply chain
 Fundamental concepts and principles of supply chain management
 Key roles that supply chain management plays in improving customer service, reducing operating costs, and
improving financial performance for organizations small or large, national or global
 Supply chain management processes, strategies, tools, and technologies
Exam questions on Supply Chain Concepts assess knowledge of and ability to do the following:
 Describe the basic concepts of supply chain management and its essential role in an organization.

Learning Block 2: Demand Planning
This learning block focuses on management of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), demand planning, and
demand forecasting processes in the supply chain.
Sales and operations planning (S&OP) is a decision-making process to balance supply and demand by integrating
demand and sales forecasts with operational plans from suppliers, production, and logistics. The goal of the S&OP
process is to integrate demand forecasts with capacity forecasts so the supply chain operations are integrated with
marketing and sales functions. The S&OP process produces three critical plans: Operational, demand, and financial
plans. The demand and capacity plans (projection of future supply capabilities) are reconciled through the financial
plan that evaluates resource costs against performance projections.
Demand planning is a key step in the S&OP process. The demand plan specifies what should be sold and when given
the organization’s supply capabilities and constraints. The goal of demand planning is to estimate orders for
products and services over some future time period using information such as historical sales data, information
about planned promotions, and market intelligence.
Demand forecasting is a key step in the demand planning process. The goal of demand forecasting is to accurately
estimate future, expected orders. Accurately estimating demand is difficult, and there are a variety of forecasting
methods that can be used. These methods are typically either a qualitative or a quantitative approach. However,
some organizations use a combination of the two approaches.
This learning block assesses knowledge of the following elements of managing demand planning in the supply chain:
 S&OP: Critical inputs to the S&OP process, including the demand plan and the capacity plan
 Demand planning: Systems, models, and approaches that organizations use to better understand the
demand for their products and services, and how they use this information to integrate supply and
production in order to satisfy the expected level of demand
 Demand forecasting: Different approaches to demand forecasting and the role of the demand forecast in
managing the supply chain
SCProTM Level One Guidelines (rev October 2016) 4|P a g e

SCProTM Level One Exam Score

There is only one best answer for each of the 160 questions. A candidate’s response to a question is either correct
or incorrect. All questions are weighted equally. There is no penalty for guessing, so candidates should attempt to
answer each question. Unanswered questions are scored as incorrect.
Upon completion of the exam, the candidate receives a CSCMP SCProTM Level One Exam Score Report. The Score
Report includes the follwing information:
 Scaled score
 The total number of correctly answered test questions are converted into a scaled score ranging from
200 to 700.
 Pass or fail status
 The passing score is 500 or higher, which reflects a minimum number of 102 correctly answered
questions.
 Eligible candidates who pass the SCProTM Level One certification exam are awarded the SCProTM Level
One certification that is valid for three years from the date it was earned (i.e., the exam was passed).
CSCMP mails a recognition package generally about three to four weeks after the exam is passed.
 An indicator of performance for each Learning Block.

 Candidate who are unsuccessful on the exam may find this information useful in focusing further study
efforts for retaking the exam.
The scale range and passing score were established by supply chain and testing industry experts using a criterion-
referenced methodology.

Retaining SCProTM Level One Certification

Achieving certification is an indication of mastery of a well-defined body of knowledge at a point in time. To maintain
certified status and to demonstrate ongoing commitment to remain current in supply chain, renewal of the SCProTM
certification is required every three years.
CSCMP’s certification renewal requirements support ongoing professional education for SCProTM certified
individuals. The goal of maintaining certification is to:
 Enhance ongoing professional development
 Encourage individual learning opportunities
 Offer a mechanism for maintaining and recording an individual’s professional development activities
 Support the global recognition of CSCMP’s SCProTM Certification
Certificants must renew the SCProTM Level One credential by completing 60 hours of eligible professional
development activities during the three-year certification renewal period, with no more than 30 hours earned in any
given year and a minimum of 20 hours per year. The certification renewal cycle begins on the day the passing score
was achieved on the SCProTM Level One Certification exam. Continuing education credits cannot be earned until
after the SCPro™ Level One Certification exam is passed and the credential is awarded.
Continuing education credits are the measure used to quantify the learning activities. Each continuing education
activity yields one credit per one hour the certificant is engaged in a formal learning activity. Eligible activities
toward the SCProTM Level One Certification renewal should be related to content assessed on the exam, and include
though are not limited to the following:
 CSCMP membership
 CSCMP education such as roundtable events, webinars, onsite education and the annual conference
 Online education such as the CSCMP Supply Chain Management Essentials and Quick Courses
 College courses
 Corporate training programs, e.g., those administered by employers
A certificant who fails to renew his/her certification will receive notification that he/she is no longer considered
certified and may not use the SCProTM credential in professional communications including but not limited to
letterhead, stationery, business cards, directory listings and signatures. To regain certification, the individual must
retake and pass the SCProTM Level One Examination (subject to the usual fees and provisions for testing).
Certificants are responsible for maintaining the documentation for completion of eligible education. For each
activity completed, retain the following information and report it on a form available at www.cscmp.org.
 Provider of the training
 Date(s) of the activity
 Activity agenda to validate eligible hours and content presented
 Proof of registration
 Proof of attendance, e.g., documentation illustration you were in attendance for the full program

An administrative fee ($50 members; $100 nonmembers) must be submitted (payable to CSCMP) with the
documented activities.

SCProTM Level One Certification Status
SCProTM certificants are categorized as being one of the following status types:
Active. Eligible candidates who earn the SCProTM Level One Certification are considered active and remain active as
long as certification renewal requirements are met every three years. While an individual has an active status for
SCProTM Level One certification, that individual is authorized to display the SCProTM credential on business cards,
resumé, curriculum vitae, etc.
Expired. Certificants who fail to meet the certification renewal requirements are deemed to have an expired status
and can no longer use the SCProTM Level One designation. To regain the SCProTM Level One certification credential,
the individual must complete an Application of Eligibility, retake the SCProTM Level One certification exam and
receive a passing score on the exam. All exam fees and provisions apply.
