Power of Influence
Law is something that binds human society together for the better. It is static in order to
meet people's needs. While the term "law" dates to the beginning of time, it is one of the most
powerful influences in modern society, with varying degrees of influence depending on the
country. Therefore, Greek law is the most influential legal system in modern Canadian society
To begin with, the Greek evolution of juries shaped Canada's legal system over time.
Starting in 590 B.C.E., the original and founding years of Athens' juries discovered a new way to
keep society and order in place. This occurred as it became clear to the people that the poorly
required equality as they were executed for and in support of the higher power. The Canadian
government used this to create courts that interpret the law and determine whether someone is
guilty or not. In court, there are many differences between the Greek and Canadian positions. For
example, instead of swearing on the holy book, the Greeks swore on the Gods and much more.
Through the ethical perspective of Greece, Canada had developed a new legal system to keep
Secondly, through Greek practices, Canada inherited its role as a democratic country.
Initially, the Greeks believed that equality should be extended to all people. The Athenians
established a system of assembly in which everyone had the right to vote. This system classified
the law into sectors, which included divisions, classifications, and so on. People were allowed to

use their voice and power to fight for what was right with a fair and somewhat vague idea of
restitution with juries placed in Greek. This concept of a democratic system based on equality is
also used in modern society. In Canada, everyone is equal and subject to the law, and the rules
are set in stone to meet the needs of the people. Due to the influence of democracy, private and
public laws were implemented into the court system of Canada, which allowed people to fight
for what's right. These can be divided into civil or criminal law, which protects both our
community and the individual. Hence, Greek law creates an ideal perspective of democracy.
Lastly, the benefits of becoming an Athens citizen are similar to those of Canada. People
had to become citizens to achieve what a democratic country is, which includes democracy and
the ability to use one's voice in court. To participate in a "demokrata," you must be male and live
in Athens. However, by the mid-fifth century, this had quickly changed for Athenian fathers and
mothers. This differs significantly from Canadian citizenship, but both require you to obtain
citizenship for your voice to be heard. Democracy applies to all citizens, but in ancient Greece,
women were not allowed to have a say in politics and were not considered Athenian unless they
were married to an Athenian male. The process of obtaining Canadian citizenship was different
because, in Canada, a person would need to be a permanent resident, live in Canada for 3 to 5
years, pass the tests, and demonstrate their proficiency in either English or French. This gives a
wide range of opportunities especially having the right to vote which is believed to be the most
important power in both Canada and Greece. Overall, Greek citizenship shaped the way Canada
protects its citizens while allowing them to have opportunities to shape their future.
In conclusion, Canada developed its way of organizing society while allowing them to
have a voice through their legal system of juries, creating democracy with their citizenship
