Caution:
Note:
The SE2200 can be mounted in the N68 cabinet provided by Huawei. For details
about the N68 cabinet installation, refer to accessory “N68 Cabinet Installation” with
the N68 cabinet. Here, it will not be described again.
The SE2200 is of 436.2 mm 420 mm 130.5 mm (width depth height) and it can
be fixed in a 19-inch standard rack. Its weight is about 20 kg with full configuration.
Ensure the rack has been well fixed. The installation position for the SE2200 has been
well arranged and there is no obstacle inside the rack or around.
Fix the brackets to the bot h sides of the chassis with M3 screws by a Phillips
screwdriver, as shown in Figure 3-2.

Lift the SE2200 a little higher than the shelf or guides in the rack and put it on the
shelf/guides and push it into the rack.
Fix the equipment to the rack with M3 screws through brackets, as shown in Figure
3-3.

In most cases, the SE2200 is mounted onto the workbench. This mounting method is
simple. Please pay attention to the following items.
Keep the workbench stable and well grounded.
Leave the clearance of 10cm around the SE2200 for heat dissipation.
Never put heavy things on the SE2200.
Caution:
The proper connection of PGND wire for the SE2200 is essential safeguard against
the lightning shocks and interference. Therefore, yo u must first correctly connect the
PGND wire when installing and using the SE2200.
The SE2200 provides a separate PGND screw. You must correctly connect the PGND
to the ground, ensuring t he faradism and leakage power to be safely channeled into
the earth ground. Thus, the anti-EMI capability of the entire SE2200 can be
significantly improved. The P GND also provides protection against the high voltage of
lightning shocks caused by external network lines.
The PGND screw is located at top right rear of the chassis and identified by a

Connect the ground screw to the earth ground using a P GND cable, requiring a
grounding resistance less than 5-ohm. If you install the SE2200 in a 19-inch standard
rack, you must also ground the rack.
The SE2200 has AC-powered and DC-powered models. You can make y our selection
as needed. These models have the same feat ures and functions, except for the PWR
type.

Step 1: Check that the PGND wire has been correctly connected to the ground.
Step 2: Turn the power switch of t he SE2200 to the OFF position. Insert one end of
the power cable accompanying with the SE2200 into the power socket on the rear
panel. Fix the cord onto the cable-retention clip with a cable strap, and t hen connect
the other end of the cord to the A C outlet that provides power supply.
Step 5: Check that the POWER indicator on t he front panel of the SE2200 is ON,
which means the power cable connection is correct.
Step 6: Turn the power switch to the OFF position again and install the board and the
interface module. After the installation, turn the power switch to the ON position.

Caution:
In case of wrong connection, carefully read the label on the DC power cable before
the connection.
The connection procedure of DC power cable is the same as that of AC power cable.
The connection procedure of the DC power cable is the same as that of the AC power
cable.

Caution:
The shielding fingers on the front panel of the int erface module achieve special
electromagnetic shielding effect for the SE2200. Please ensure their integrity
when uninstalling or replacing an interface module, and never damage them.
If you do not want to install another interface module aft er removing the old one,
install the blank filter panel to keep off the dust, and ensure the adequate
ventilation of the SE2200.
Step 2: Align the remot e edge of the interface module with the slot edge.
Step 3: Push the interface module into the SE2200, pull the ejector levers of SE2200
inward until it presses against the interface module panel. (The angles thus formed
between the interfac e module panel and the levers are the minimum angles.)
Step 4: Fix the interface module in the chassis by fastening the captive screws.
Step 3: Loosen the captive screws at both sides of the interface module.
Step 4: Pull the ejector levers at both sides of the int erface module outward, pull the
interface module out of the slot along the guides until disengaging it totally from the
slot.

Each SE2200 provides an EIA/ TIA -232-comliant asynchronous serial console port
(Console), through which you can configure the SE2200. For the console port
attributes, refer to the section “1.4. 1 RPU”.
A console cable is an 8-core shielded cable. At one end of the c able is a crimped
RJ-45 connector that is to be plugged int o the console port of the SE2200. At the other
end of the cable are a DB -9 (female) connector and a DB -25 (female) connector. You
can plug either of them into the serial port on the cons ole terminal as needed.

Before configuring t he SE2200 at the console terminal, connect the cons ole cable in
the following steps:
Step 1: Select a console terminal. The console terminal can be a standard ASCII
terminal possessing an RS-232 serial port, or a regular PC, but the latter is often
used.

Step 2: Connect the cable. Power off the SE2200 and cons ole terminal, and connect
the RS-232 serial port to the console port on the RP U with the console cable.
Power on the SE 2200 after verifying the installation. If the SE 2200 is working normally,
the system will display the equipment boot information on the cons ole terminal. For
more information about that, refer to “4.1. 3 Booting Process”.
The SE2200 provides a fixed 10/100BASE-TX FE port. For details of its attributes,
refer to the section “1.4.1 RPU".
The 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet port usually adopts the cat egory 5 t wisted-pair for
connection, as shown in Figure 3-9.
Ethernet cables fit into two categories, straight-through cables and crossover cables.
Straight-t hrough cable: It is also called standard cable. The wire sequences of
the twisted pairs crimped in the RJ-45 connectors at both ends are the same. It is
used for connecting a t erminal device (e.g., PC or SE2200) to a HUB or LA N
Switch. The cables delivered with the equipment are straight-through cables.
Crossover cable: The wire sequences of the twisted pairs crimped in t he RJ -45
connectors at both ends are different. It is used for connecting t wo terminal
devic es (e.g., PC or SE2200). You can make it as needed.

Ethernet Cable Pinouts”.

Caution:
The standard equipping package of the SE2200 has included the interface cables
for the fixed Ethernet ports.
When preparing network cables, please use shielded twisted-pair (S TP) cables so
long as they are available for the sake of electromagnetic compatibility.
Caution:
You must connect a cable to the port with the appropriate mark. Mis-plugging is
prone to impair the interface card and even damage the equipment mainframe.
When connecting to a LAN S witch, insert the cable to the 10/100BASE -TX port
identified by MDIX.
Follow these steps to connect an Ethernet cable to the 10/100BASE -TX port on the
RPU, for example.
Step 2: Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the fixed LAN port of SE2200.
Step 3: If the Ethernet cable is a straight-through cable, connect the other end of it to
the Ethernet port of a HUB or a LA N Switch.
The SE2200 provides various WAN ports and the one provided by the RPU is AUX
port. The connection of AUX will be described in details in the coming subsections.
For the connection of the WAN port on an interface module, refer to the relevant
contents in “Chapter 7 Interface Modules”.

An AUX cable is an 8-core shielded cable. At one end of the cable is an RJ-45
connector that can be plugged into the AUX port of the SE2200. At the other end are a
DB-9 (male) connector and a DB-25 (male) connector. You can plug either of them
into the serial port of the modem as needed. The following figure illustrates the AUX
cable.

For the pinouts of AUX cable, please refer to “A ppendix A.2 A UX Cable”.
Step 1: Insert the RJ-45 connector of the cable into the AUX port on the RPU.
Step 2: Insert the DB-25 or DB-9 connector into the serial port of the analog modem.
The AUX port is usually used for remote configuration or dial-up backup. Therefore,

you need to connect the local modem to the remote modem through PS TN and then
to the remot e equipment. For the configuration procedure, refer to Quidway
SessionEngine2100/2200 Session Border Controllers Operation Manual.
During the equipment installation, you must verify the installation each time before
you power on the SE2200, making sure that:
Enough clearance has reserved around the SE2200 for adequate dissipation
and the rack is stable enough.
The correct power supply is used.
The connection of the PGND wire of the SE2200 is correct and secure.
The connections with ot her devices, such as the console terminal, are correct.
Caution:
It is very important for you to check the equipment installation, as the secure
connection, well grounding, and use of the correct power supply are essential to the
normal operation of the SE2200.
Note:
After you finish checking the equipment installation, you may power on the SE2200.
For the detailed description, please refer to “4.1.2 Powering on the SE2200”. If the
SE2200 has faults, please refer to “6.1 The Power System”.
