ABOUT YIDP

Youth Initiative Development Programme(YIDP) is a grass root youth-

driven Non-Governmental Organization based in Kisumu, Homabay,
Kakamega, Siaya and Nairobi City County Counties in Kenya. YIDP was
registered in 2016 as an NGO and intervenes in youth and children's
rights, youth health, youth employability and livelihood (Social
entrepreneurship development and empowerment), youth and
children development (formal and informal education), gender
equality, technology and innovation, and peacebuilding and
reconciliation. YIDP has been utilizing the power of sports as a
comprehensive tool for addressing the above-listed interventions and
has already impacted more than 100000 youth between ages 5 and
30 years.

ABOUT TUC

Tangaza University College is a Catholic University College jointly

owned by member religious congregations. It has its roots in
Catholic Tradition, especially as planted and nourished in East
Africa (the AMECEA region) through the missionary endeavors
which spanned the late 19th and entire 20th centuries.

Now in the 21st century, and in the spirit of the Second Vatican
Council, the people of Tangaza recognize that they themselves are
sent to participate in the renewal and development of that
Tradition. As befits an institution of higher learning this will be
realized primarily through a commitment to academic excellence
and the personal transformation of its students, both lay and
religious.

YIDPC2023
YOUTH INITIATIVE DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAMME (YIDP) CONVENTION

YIDP in partnership with the Centre for Leadership and Management, Tangaza
University College is hosting the first-ever Youth Convention under the theme:
Building a Sustainable Healthy Community for Youths in Africa. The Convention is
focusing on setting the pace towards constructive working relationships between
the public and private sectors, thereby creating a more enabling healthy
environment for youths in Africa to thrive in.

The purpose of the convention is to bring together key stakeholders in the youth
development sector - influential public, youths, youth leaders and business leaders,
experts, investors, and entrepreneurs- for a series of virtual and physical events and
facilitate the sharing of insights and lessons learned towards saving the future.

The Convention will be a 2 days highly interactive hybrid event (both in-person and
virtual participation) happening from 10th-11th August 2023 at Tangaza University
College. A minimum of 300 in-person and 500 virtual delegates are expected to
participate in the Convention.

Delegates are drawn from a cross-section of areas to reflect the multi-disciplinary

and inter-sectoral nature of adolescent and youth health and development among
the delegates. We also expect eminent entrepreneur experts, universities & colleges,
researchers, research institutions, business leaders, and development partners.
Special attention will be placed on especially vulnerable youth including those with
disabilities. The panels will discuss, share information and provide lessons learned
and insights on key areas that affect youth health and development in Africa.

YIDPC2023
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE YIDP
CONVENTION

YIDP Convention delegates will pursue the following objectives:

Take action and create impact; to co-create solutions, involve new investments
and opportunities to hasten youths' impact on local communities and the
world.
Learn and improve skills; to discover groundbreaking tools, knowledge, training,
and resources that can enhance success in youth projects.

Link and engage; to build public-private partnerships and motivation by

connecting youths with influential young leaders, experts, and practitioners
from across sectors and world regions.

Innovate. Integrate. Thrive; to create a platform for dialogue that will lead to the
development of innovations and integration in programmes that promote the
mental health and psychosocial well-being, or thriving of youths in Africa.

SPEAKING OPPORTUNITIES

Only the best

Our aim is to make this a truly Pan-African event with high calibre speakers who can bring
global experience to an audience of high-level international and regional delegates.

We already have a large number of quality speakers who have shown interest to speak at
our events. However, we also want to reach out to other institutions(strategic partners) to
invite applications or suggestions for speakers.

We welcome offers to speak on any of the sessions in our draft programs. Please feel free
to contact us directly by email to Speaking Opportunities to either propose yourself as a
speaker or to suggest a colleague from your organisation.

Funding arrangements
In order to keep event ticket costs down we cannot fund speakers in terms of time, travel
or accommodation. On the other hand (contrary to what is becoming a common but, in
our view, an unwelcome practice) we do not ask speakers to pay for the privilege of
speaking at our events. Your attendance at the entire event will be complimentary and we
hope that the reward for taking the time to speak at our event will be found in the benefits
and networking to be had by appearing in front of and showcasing your company to what
will be a quality and diverse audience drawn from all sectors within the health and youth
initiatives ecosystem.

Terms of Engagement
We expect speakers to deliver informative presentations relevant to the topic. We do not
wish speakers to use the opportunity to promote their own company’s services other than
by way of a single, final slide. If your company would like to speak on a particular session
AND promote its services we suggest you consider participating as a sponsor.

Terms of Acceptance
For each speaker application, we will work directly with the applicant to agree on the
general theme and content of the session. However, we will then largely give selected
speakers the freedom to produce their own presentations.

Specifications and Content

We will liaise with selected speakers well in advance regarding the format and content of
presentations.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Our approach to sponsorship is to keep packages simple but offering choice, to be

affordable and financially transparent with clear benefits for sponsoring companies. We
also try to accept sponsorship requests from no more than one or two companies in any
particular area of business in order to preserve a degree of exclusivity. However, we
recognize that many delegates welcome access to different companies’ products and
services so we always try to strike a balance between exclusivity and the opportunity for
delegates to be informed of the products and services available. If a potential sponsor is
keen to suggest a tailored package we are happy to discuss content and cost.
