FEEDPLATES

There is a potential problem with the feedplates in machines with a serial number lower than U199093785. Some of
the knurled knobs that tighten the gun in place were machined without enough threads. This would cause the shoulder
of the screw to come into contact with the feedplate just as the gun feels tight. This is before the "O" rings are fully
compressed, making good electrical contact between the gun and the feedplate. This may cause the screw to carry
the welding current into the aluminum feedplate. This may show up in one of the following ways:

Gun set screw welded into the feedplate.

Gun welded into feedplate.
Lose of welding current or voltage.
Wire welded in gun liner or at output guide.

If a machine with a serial number lower than the above number comes into your shop, check the thread length of the
set screw. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THREADS ABOVE THE FEEDPLATE REPLACE THE KNURLED KNOB WITH PART
NUMBER S22933.

The feedplate was modified starting with serial number U19910xxxxx. It now has a brass conductor block that goes in
the gun receptacle of the feedplate. The replacement part for the feedplate and conductor block assembly is S24827.
This includes the following:

(1) G3345-1 FEEDPLATE MACHINED

(2) S22672 WIRE GUIDE RETAINING PIN
(1) T9967-3 ROLL PIN
(1) S24826 CONDUCTOR BLOCK
(1) S11604-21 SET SCREW
(1) T14557-8 HOSE NIPPLE (MALE)
(1) B-4-9-208-210 LEAD
(1) CF000018 3/8-16X.625HHCS
(1) S9262-4 PLAIN WASHER
(1) T9860-4 LOCKWASHER
(1) S22933 KNURLED KNOB

This assembly is all that is required to replace the old feedplate except for the IDLE ARM and the ADJUSTMENT ARM
ASSEMBLY which will be needed from the old assembly. In some cases the gun may also need to replaced.
The S22933 Knurled Knob and the S24827 Feedplate Assembly will be be covered under the standard period.
