Doing a Talk Without Notes

Here are some options for how to give a presentation or make a speech, and which I
think are the best choices…

1. Never read from a script


2. Never learn and recite a script
3. An A4 page of notes which summarises your whole talk (in very brief bullet points) works
really well
4. Avoid cue cards - go for A4 instead so it’s all on one page
5. Write in pencil on your flip chart for a secret message to yourself
6. Be cued by your visual aid - add any prices or dates or facts which you are struggling to
remember. Keep slides below about 20 words total if you can.
