Pre-Writing
My Choice of University Career

At the young age of 10 years old it was already clear to me that it was a choice,

since my mother always told me "the trick is not to choose between good and bad, but

between good and right", from that moment until today I have made very important

choices, however none as the choice of my university career, in this path towards the

choice of university and career I had to keep in mind that I had to make sacrifices,

however I am a person who would do everything necessary for my own good.

Through the years I understood that sometimes a choice can bring us benefits and

sometimes consequences, so like everyone, I have made decisions for bad and for good,

however, I have learned that wisdom is acquired from bad decisions.

This process was extremely long, since it starts from the year 2018, it starts in this

year because I began to study to obtain a technician in precision mechanics, clearly

always thinking that my future was to chose this specialty in order to reach what I really

wanted, which was a degree in some engineering, you may wonder why was it? Well the

"was" was because for the month of April 2020 it was time to pay the admission fee to take

the exam for universities, all this was a controversy because I was doing my internship in a

medical industry (Medtronic) very prestigious in the field of precision mechanics, although

the prestigious is a little small because it is actually the best company in the world in its

field, It was difficult to make the decision to pay the admission fee in public universities

because I had planned to stay working there, enter a private university and study

something that would make me move up in that company, however I paid the admission

fee and took the exams for their respective universities, after that I began to learn about

other careers and I lost interest in the world of engineering.

 When I started to inform myself I said to myself "well I really like sports, I am

passionate about helping people, I would like to teach what I know, I would like to work for

a public institution, I love mathematics and among other interests", in effect to the above I

found 4 careers that were perfectly related to the characteristics mentioned above, they

were Sciences of human movement, Physiotherapy, Economics and Law.

Days passed and it was time to choose, so in the UCR I chose to put as first option

Physiotherapy and as second option I put the career of Law, it was very intense since my

weighted was 611 and the minimum score went to the top for that year, on the other hand

in the UNA I had a super bad experience of admission, since it is only one career option. I

wanted to put Sciences of Human Movement, but days before I realized that I could not

choose that career because I had to do some previous tests. It was very sad, but I had a

last option, to choose Economics.

In the month of January 2021 I received an email informing me that I was accepted

in the career of Law and two weeks later I received another email from the UNA informing

me that I successfully was accepted too in the career of Economics, I had to make a

decision as soon as possible.

So I talked about it a bit with my dad, girlfriend and coach to see what they advised

me, I listened to their advice and I decided to study economics, however this did not end

there but rather begins the story of the many sacrifices I had to make when I entered the

University, as I had to take hand in hand soccer, family, college, among others. March

came and it was time to start putting everything on a scale and make multiple choices

every day, I had to sacrifice family outings to do a project that is worth a quarter of a

course, I had to stop attending many important games because I had mathematics exams,

I have stopped sleeping as I used to and if I sat down to count each of these daily

sacrifices I would never end, however I do not complain about anything and I hope to finish

everything I set out someday.

 In short I would say that when there is a will, there is a way and that if the sacrifices

are big the rewards will be bigger, I invite you not to stay in a comfort zone, because that

makes us mediocre people and does not allow us to reach our limits, make sacrifices and

you will receive rewards.
