My Advertising Essay

Have you ever wondered why there are so many ads and commercials targeted toward

children?? Marketers have been targeting children to hypnotize them, to buy their products.

Million-dollar companies invest heavily in advertising to target specific groups of people like

children for toys or fast food.

To begin with, Corporations use the bandwagon technique to bring kid consumers toward

their product. Evidence says that “Advertisers make it seem that everyone is buying this product,

so you feel you should buy it, too.” (How Kids Can Resist Advertising and Be Smart

Consumers) This proves that when children see a company’s advertisements, they would want to

buy their product so they would not be left out. For Example: My baby alive ad, it brings the

alive doll and shows what it can do on the ads and all the little girls want it so they can have the

experience of something to take care of and they do not want to be left out. Another article

shows “In addition to being consumers of the future, children already spend $30 billion on

everything from clothing to video games. On top of that, they influence their parents to spend

their money. That accounts for another $600 billion” (How do they do it? Analyzing Ads)

Simply said this means that kids consumers want more of what they want, and companies need to

get more of what the consumers want so they can get more money. Companies are astute and
sometimes lax, but they do use the bandwagon technique, and they show several types of ads, so

they illustrate many kids that are happy with their product so now you want it, and you do not

want to be left out.

In addition, corporations use various kinds of logos to persuade kids to buy their product.

According to the text “What is new how advertisers have adapted to digital media – especially

apps, websites, and social media. Many of today’s ads – from product placements in movies and

on TV to online contests, viral videos, and chatbots (robots that send instant messages) – do not

look like ads.” (How Kids Can Resist Advertising and Be Smart Consumers) Companies use

many unusual types of ways to persuade people, mostly children. For example: kids are

inundated with asking their parents for iPhones because iPhones are popular, and they want it, so

they don’t get left out. Another article states “There are many different kinds of techniques used

by companies to persuade kid consumers to buy more of their products.” (How do they do it?

Analyzing Ads). Simply Stated, this means that companies use several types of ways to

hypnotize kid consumers to buy their product. For Example: Nike, the brand they use distinct

types of ads YouTube videos and some workout videos that show the person wearing Nikes.

Retailers use many techniques for varied reasons to get customers to pay for their product.

As a result, Children have been persuaded by advertisers to buy their products which that

makes them kid consumers. Using ads and techniques more often will be easier to persuade kid

consumers to buy their product. Obviously, without ads and techniques retailers would not be

able to persuade children and or adults as easily as it should be.
