Top 10 Poker HUD Stats

Cheat Sheet
“Knowing your opponent’s tendencies allows you to take advantage
of them to help you get what you want in the hand.”
- Sky
It’s a good thing you’re an online player because you have access to the #1
tool for information on your opponents: a HUD (heads-up display).

Your HUD reveals a player’s tendencies. Sure, paying attention to the action,
watching showdowns and making reads are still critical skills in online poker
just as they are in LIVE poker. But a HUD gives free information that you can
use, assuming you know how to use it.

This Cheat Sheet will teach you how to use the Top 10 Poker HUD Stats to ex-
ploit your opponents to the max. Now, just reading through this Cheat Sheet
won’t be enough. It’s critical that you take action with the 3 action steps on
page 6. These will develop a habit of referring to HUD stats and making reads
in every hand you play, then ultimately taking action on those reads to ex-
ploit your opponents.

Good luck and enjoy the process of learning how to exploit with stats!

The VPIP & PFR Gap

The bigger the gap between VPIP and PFR, the fishier the opponent. If their VPIP-PFR gap > PFR,
you’ve found a fishy player who gives too much Bread & Butter to their opponents (ex. 30/10 =
gap = 20 > 10). The smaller the gap, the more aggressive they are.
Exploitation: Target players with large gaps. They limp and call a lot because they love seeing
flops. Go for max value against them when you have a strong hand. A small gap means they’re
very aggressive preflop, and probably aggressive post-flop. Expect aggression when they’re in-
volved in the hand. Make sure your own gap isn’t too big by never limping and call less often
preflop.

3. RFI - Raise First In Pre-flop
Description: This is how often they open-raise. This is a key stat to have by position in a popup
because it gives a great idea of their RFI range.
Exploitation: > 20% RFI (in a given position) is perfect to attack with 3bet bluffs, and you may
want to 3bet smaller with your best hands to entice them to stay in the hand (if they fold a lot,
2bet/Fold to 3bet stat below). < 20% RFI means they have a narrow and strong range, so you
should think twice before 3bet bluffing. Although, you can 3bet larger for value with your
strongest hands because they are folding less often. Most player’s RFI starts to increase in the
CO (the first steal position) and are largest on either the BTN or the SB.

8. Live Amount BB’s - for MTT’s and SNG’s

Description: This is how many BB’s the player has at the current blind level.
Exploitation: For MTT and SNG players, this is a key stat to have as it calculates stack sizes in
BB’s, freeing up your mind to think about other matters at hand. With bubble play and mov-
ing up the pay ladder being such key components of both types of tourneys, knowing stack
sizes at a glance is valuable information when considering whether to play a hand on the
bubble or for making ICM decisions when in the money.

#2 Singular Stat Focus and Make Reads!

For each session you play, until you learn them all, choose ONE of the Top 10
Stats to focus on for the entire session (start with #1 VPIP). Every time a play-
er makes a play related to the stat, you look at the % then make a read on it.
Examples:
• VPIP Focus: they call in the BB and VPIP is 45%, so you reason they have a

very wide and weak range.

• 3bet Focus: they 3bet in the MP vs the EP and their 3bet = 1%. You reason

they’re on a very tight and strong range.

• Fold to Cbet Focus: before cbet bluffing, you see they fold 72%. Your bluff

is likely to work.
Focus on ONE stat over and over again until you know it like the back of your
hand, then move on to the next stat.

#3 Exploit at the Extremes

Any stat %’s closer to 0% or 100% are more easily exploited. Exploit at every
opportunity when their stat is at one of the extremes. Examples: 3bet bluff
when RFI is > 35%, fold a lot vs Cbet < 35%, etc.

Action is the greatest teacher… so get to work!
