Lesson: 3D splines
In this lesson, you will toggle 3D sketch settings and use the move feature.
Learning Objectives:
Toggle 3D sketch settings.
Use the Move feature.
Step 1: Create a 3D spline
1. Upload the file 3D Splines.f3d and
navigate to Preferences.
2. In the Design section select
“Allow 3D sketching of lines
and splines”.
3. Edit Sketch1 and select 3D
Sketch from the sketch
palette.
4. Select Sketch>Point and
create a point at 100mm
on the X axis.

5. Select
Modify>Move/Copy and
move the sketch point
125mm in the +Z
direction.
6. Select Sketch>Spline and
create a Spline
connecting the two lines
as shown with the sketch
point as a midpoint on the
spline.
7. Add a Tangent constraint
with the spline and each
straight line.
Note: You can use Move/Copy to
manipulate the spline handles.
8. Stop Sketch and save the
file.
