A long time ago, in a dark forest, far far away, there lived a human girl named Vesper

and her family of vampires. She was adopted at a young age by her stepmother Elegia after her
village was plundered by vampires.

For Vesper, she was very grateful to Elegia for saving her life. But because she was a
human, she was treated very poorly by her family, they only kept her around so that Elegia’s
daughters would be freed from doing some household chores.

She couldn’t just drink blood for food so she had to get an extra job to buy her own food,
and all the clothes she wore were pretty ragged and dirty. The only thing they provided her with
is shelter, but despite all of this she is still very grateful for having them as her family.

Ever since the day she was adopted, all Vesper could ever think about is what jobs she
can take, and how to spend the money wisely to survive. Even if all of her employers mistreated
her for being human, even if she gets hurt, even if she lost the will to keep going, she still did
her best because she believes that there will come a better day for her.

She kept working for many years, until one day, while she was working at one of her
employers house, a fight broke out. It was a raid started by human vampire hunters seeking
revenge for their fallen families. Vesper was scared, she didn’t know what to do, and
unfortunately, in her panic she got shot in the leg by a stake arrow.

“Is this it?” “Am i dead?” “Can I finally rest?” These were the thoughts running through
Vesper’s mind as she got shot but then suddenly…

A neatly dressed vampire noble came to her rescue, he took off the arrow and cast
healing magic onto her leg.

“Are you alright?” the noble asked

“I should be fine… Thank you” Vesper replied, “Great” the noble said before dashing out
of the house to chase after the vampire hunters, but before he could leave, Vesper shouted
“Wait!... I didn’t catch your name” the noble then replied “I’m Azazel, nice to meet you.”

Vesper was shocked, she recognized his name, it was the name of the prince of the
vampire kingdom. Throughout her entire life, of all the people she encountered, of all the times
she got hurt, this was the first time someone decided to help her out. And ever since that day
she has dreamed of meeting the prince once again.

A couple more years passed by, and finally the day has come. The king of the dark
forest has decided to give his son a bride. And because of this the kingdom decided to start a
ball with all of the young ladies in the kingdom invited.
The ladies were thrilled about the announcement, everyone picked out their best gowns
and got themselves ready for the ball. Vesper was no exception, she has been working hard to
get herself ready for this day. She has been secretly saving for a dress of her own, and now it
was finally time to get it.

She went to the store, bought the dress and she got ready to go, but unfortunately, her
preparations came to a halt when her stepmother saw her.

“What are you doing?” Elegia asked, “I’m just.. getting ready for the ball… It’s ok mother,
you don’t need to do anything, I got everything ready.” Vesper said,

“Do you really think a bread eating human like you is going to be chosen by the prince of
vampires?”

Elegia said sinisterly “he’s not like that at all, the prince is–” but before Vesper could
finish her sentence, Elegia grabbed her and said: “Don’t even think about it, I won’t let you use
my name just to embarrass yourself.” She shouts, as she destroys Vesper’s dress. Discouraged
and saddened, Vesper ran away from her home and went into a forest while holding in her
tears.

After her step mother broke her dreams by destroying the dress her friends made, a bat
approached her and said, “Why the long face?” To her disbelief, a bat talked to her!

“Who are you?” Vesper asked.

“Well, I’m your one and only Devil Godfather of course! You have a wish and it is my duty
to grant it.”

“But can you really grant it?”

“Of course!” said the Devil Godfather.

When night came, Morgana, Chylde, and Elegia went to the gala. While her sisters and
her stepmother were gone, Vesper kept talking with the bat.

“My wish is to attend the king’s gala, will you please grant my wish?” asked Vesper.

“Your wish is my command!”

The bat spitted a liquid onto Vesper and made her squeaky clean! Then her clothes
magically transformed into a dark beautiful dress as dark as the night’s sky. Her hair was
straightened and was silky smooth and long. She had a crimson pendant in her neck.

“Amazing!” said Vesper.

“But how do I get to the ball?”

“Did I say I was done?” The bat transformed himself into a carriage similar to the shape
of a coffin. It had shiny red wheels and had leather seats.

“This is wondrous!”

“Right? But there’s a catch my lady.” said the Devil Godfather.

“This pendant is a cursed artifact that can be worn by you and you alone, it will turn you
into a vampire temporarily during the night, and the moment the morning comes at the first
minute after midnight, all of its effects will be gone”

“Then that means I can only stay there before midnight?”

“Indeed my child”

“Then I’ll be sure to leave by then!” said Vesper.

“Good! Onwards to the gala my lady” And just like that the carriage started to make its
way to the castle.

Meanwhile, in the castle, the king is trying very desperately to convince the prince to
dance with somebody. “I’m just… waiting for the right time, i just don’t want to rush this, is all”
said the prince. “...hmmm, just make sure you decide on one tonight alright? We don’t have
much time left, the war is coming soon, and this might be your last chance in life. Do you
understand?” the king replied “I know father, i know…”

After a few minutes of riding the carriage, Vesper finally made it and she made it in time.
She walked in the castle with a strong and confident poise. The moment she walked in,
everyone took a good look at her and everyone was impressed. Everyone was talking about her
and they soon started a commotion.

The prince was quickly made aware of this and decided to check it out “What’s going on
here?” he asked one of the audiences in the commotion, “It’s an elegant looking lady that i have
never seen before, over there”

Azazel turned to look at the direction they were pointing at. Azazel’s heart skipped a
beat, he had seen the most beautiful woman his eyes had laid upon, and it was then when he
decided to finally ask someone for a dance. He started to walk up to her, despite not being well
versed in the manners of the ball room, he stretched out his hand and said ”Can i please have a
dance with you?”
Vesper was surprised, she didn’t even have to look for him, but despite her shock, she
still confidently agreed to his request. They danced for a while, and after the dance, they sat
next to each other and started talking to each other about their lives. She told him about the
time he saved her from a raid, and the prince was shocked and apologized for not recognizing
her.

They talked about their interests, the things they did and the friends they had. They went
on for a while but then suddenly, the bell rang “Oh dear! Sorry prince but i have to go” Vesper
said, “What why? The ball isn’t over until the morning” the prince said ”I am so sorry, but i really
have to go” Vesper replied

As she ran away from the castle, all of her clothes started to return to normal, and the
hook on her pendant broke off as she was running, and dropped off of her neck and ran as fast
as she could.

“Wait!” said the prince as he picked up her pendant. He tried to give chase to Vesper but
could not get her. “This is her pendant..” he said as he was staring at her pendant.

“She must live here somewhere within this dark forest. I will find her and make her my
bride.” the prince added.

Prince Azazel went and visited every house that has a lady living on it and asked them to
try and wear the pendant. But no one was able to wear it and the prince had to move on.

At long last, the prince arrived at Vesper’s household.

“He’s here!” screamed Morgana.

“Open the door quickly!” said Chylde.

“Get ready! One of you must wear that pendant no matter what!” yelled the stepmother.

Morgana opened the door before prince Azazel could even knock. “Come in!” she said.
Morgana tried the pendant first. She tried really hard but the pendant won’t let itself be worn by
a normal vampire. The second-step sister tried it on as well but still no luck.

“Are there any young women left living at your residence?” asked the prince.

“None, your majesty,” Elegia replied.

The prince was disheartened and stepped out of the house.

“You forgot about me, your majesty!” said Vesper.

“Vesper!” said the stepmother. “I told you to keep quiet!” Elegia added.

“I thought I asked you if there are any young women left at your home and you said
none” said the prince.

“None who matter!” said the stepmother in a hiss.

“Come here,” said the prince.

Vesper approached the prince. Prince Azazel held the pendant high up and put it onto
Vesper’s neck. It worked!

“Yes! I knew it! You are the one!” the prince cried.

“What!?” Morgana screamed to her disbelief.

“That’s impossible!” Chylde added.

“This cannot be happening!” yelled the stepmother.

Prince Azazel did not bother listening to the screams of Chlyde and Morgana. He looked
deeply into Vesper’s eyes and he knew she was the one.

Soon after, Azazel betrothed Vesper, they continued on with their lives, and they lived
happily ever after
