SPECIAL CROCHET TECHNIQUES

CROCHET IN SPIRAL
Work the required stitches into the magic ring. When the first round is worked, immediately
go into the second round. You do not have to turn your work or join the round with sl st. To
count rounds, place a marker at the end of the first round.

CROCHET IN ROWS
Finish the rnd normally and join with sl st but NOT turn the work. Now you should starts the
next rnd with the indicated number of chains on pattern. Start crocheing at the same st (this
chains does NOT count as a stitch).

CROCHET IN TURNING ROWS

Finish the rnd normally and turn the work. Come up with the indicated number of chains. Start
crocheing at the same stitch in the chain (this chains does NOT count as a stitch).

CHANGING COLOR
First, at the last st before the color change, pull up a loop as if to make a single crochet but
don't pull through the second loop to complete the stitch (you should have two loops on your
hook). Then, complete the single crochet by pulling through a loop of the new color. Continue
the round as usual.

INVISIBLE COLOR CHANGE (FOR PERFECT STRIPES)

First round. Do the color change at the last st before the end of the row. Now make a sl st
BACK LOOP ONLY (BLO) at the first stitch and a sc at the SAME POINT (you just create 2 sts).
Then sc around as normal.
Second round. SKIP the first st on the next round (the sl st that you just made on previous
round), then sc around as normal.
Repeat this sequence at each color change

COLOR CHANGES WITH DEFINED LINES

First round. Sc as instructed by your pattern. Change color in the last stitch of the round – final
yarn over and pull through with the new color.
Second round. Sl st in back loops only for the entire round. (this round is not counted)
Third round. Sc in back loops only for the entire round.
Fourth round. Continue crocheting as your pattern indicates.
