The human body has many different organs, such os the heart, brain, and lungs. Organs work together to perform a particular job. Organs that work together form an of angystem. Each sys fem has a different job. Your body has many systems such as the digestive system, respiratory system, nervous system, circulatory system, and skeletal system. The Skeletal System The skeletal system consists of bones. Al, the bones in your body are par skeleton. The skeleton S8pports the ‘and hers youmove. Bones have different functions. When you breathe out, you are feleasing air. Haitssand mucus in the nose. trap the dustand germs. The nose make the air warm and moist. Then air moves through the throat into the larynx. When you inhale, or breathe in, your rib cag moves up and your diaphragm contracts. It moves into the chest and makes more space for the lungs to expand. That way more air comes into the lungs, When you exhale, or breathe out, your ib cage moves down in place. The diaphragm relaxes, and there is less space for air This forces the lungs to exhale air. Describe how the rib cage and diaphragm help us breathe. 144 \ The Circulatory System Parts of the body. The walls of arteries are thick because they carry blood from the heart under high pressure. it The walls of veins are thinner than the walls of arteries. Veins have valves, Valves are flaps that allow blood to move in one direction towards the heart. When the valve is open, the blood can move. When the valve is closed, the blood cannot move. Define Underline the sentences that define arteries, veins, and valves, “Blood from the body enters the heart in the right atrium. This blood has less ‘oxygen and more carbon dioxide. The blood flows from the right atrium to the right ventricle through a valve. The valve allows the blood to flow into the entricle, but stops it from going backwards into the atrium. The right ventricle umps the blood to the lungs. In the lungs, the blood gets oxygen and loses Carbon dioxide. Your body gets rid of the carbon dioxide when you breathe out. The blood is now rich with oxygen and returns from the lungs. It enters the left atrium. Then the blood is pushed to the left ventricle through a valve. The blood is pumped throughout the whole body.
